Is what your partner exclaims as they are diving up the interstate and coming up on a fresh accident.
When you look through the window, whatever you expecting to see?
I was looking for an arm or a foot. Apparently I'm the ridiculous one in the car 😆

So--was it the parts of the car's body in the road??
Don't tease us like that!

I have to laugh at this because I live with very literal people. I wouldn't say that because they would be expecting to see an arm or a foot or some other body parts strewn across the road. So no, you aren't being ridiculous.

Human body parts is what I'd expect to see. Car parts or just parts would be about a car but when you throw 'body' in there it becomes about a person.

I would expect piece of people.
Don't leave us hanging! What "body parts" were out there?

I would have thought the same thing as you but I'm guessing he meant a bumper or something similar

I hope everyone was ok!

It was a bumper. We were driving up 95 north in VA as an ice storm was coming through. Accidents everywhere.
It was a piece of a front end I think. Hes a car guy and thinks it was absurd that I would just assume it was an arm or leg. Ha

I think parts of a human body, not a car body. I don't even think DH would refer to it as body parts and he worked in a shop when he was much younger. He'd refer to it as a fender, bumper, even car parts, but not body parts.

Definitely parts of a human body. DH is a police officer, so car parts definitely are not what I would first think of!

Car parts or me, I have been to a lot of accident scenes, since my father took photos of them. Rarely is a human body in pieces. But I do know a woman who believes that there is a body in the ditch every time she sees a shoe on the road. Yeah, she is very much high strung.

My first thought would be human, then car . You are not silly or anything else for thinking that first. People people think people!

Haha, if my husband said that to me I would be looking for hands, arms and legs. It would not occur to me to look for car parts.

I own a body shop. Auto body is my bread and butter. And even I didn’t think of car parts. 😝
Would it be ok if I posted a paraphrased version of this on our facebook page?

I would look. But if it's an animal, I will cover my eyes and bury my head we are part it. DH knows to warn me even if it's iffy.

I would never have thought car parts. I might have thought a truck full of mannequins overturned but most likely I would be looking around for arms and legs too.

Hes a car guy and thinks it was absurd that I would just assume it was an arm or leg. I would totally 100% think he was talking about human body parts. I don't think that's an absurd assumption at all!

Apparently I have worked for a car company way too long. My first assumption was car parts. But then I work with bumpers and they are designed to crush in a crash so bits in the road after an accident is normal.

I would never have thought car parts. I might have thought a truck full of mannequins overturned but most likely I would be looking around for arms and legs too. That was my exact thought. I thought "truck full of mannequins" was somehow going to be the punchline to your thread title.

I would be covering my eyes and not looking at all! I would automatically assume human body parts, so you're not crazy as far as I'm concerned. A couple of years ago DH and I were driving to breakfast and came upon a fresh accident - a woman runner who was hit by an SUV (turned out to be a drunk driver with no license). The first thing I saw as we approached the curve was a heavy jacket in the middle of the road (turn lane) and two people standing near it talking. No cops or emergency vehicles had arrived yet. Then I noticed the legs sticking out from under the jacket and I lost it. DH was trying to decide if he needed to stop and help and I was bawling my eyes out in the passenger seat. I simply couldn't stop crying. It took me nearly 30 minutes to calm down. And I didn't even know the person. So given any warning at all I'm shutting my eyes, turning my head, and plugging my ears until we're past it. Jen
