Struggling with vertigo. Had all sorts of tests and nothing dire is wrong. If you had it, how did you get rid of it? Waiting on ENT referral but open to all ideas. Did anyone have success with acupuncture?

I do the Epley Manouver which you can find on YouTube. Helps me within a matter of minutes. I’ve never tried acupuncture.

My doctor recommended Carol Foster’s method over the Epley maneuver and said that it has been more effective and with fewer attempts (and is easily done yourself at home). Hope you get some relief soon!

Did they do the Eply? have they referred you to PT? Waiting on ENT referral. Will try the maneuvers tomorrow. Today is about keeping down some nutrition. So far so good. My new book shall be called “How to loose 5 pounds in 5 days without really trying.” 🤢

The epley maneuver only works if my vertigo is due to crystals. I can tell because the room only spins when I'm in certain positions. Most times, it isn't and I take meclizine to keep it under control.

Sorry you are dealing with this! Being dizzy sucks. I've battled with vestibular migraines for many years now. The 'feeling off' never really goes away for me but the dizziness comes and goes. I've not found anything to help because I am very sensitive to the meds, but Ativan helps with the anxiety that comes with it.

I've wrote here about this before.I have/had vertigo from am anologous loop. This means a blood vessel was looped around in my brain and sitting on my vestibular nerve -actually between the vestibular nerve and the optic nerve on that side. Eventually I had brain surgery to place a widget or cushion between the nerves and the blood vessel. But the damage was aleady done and the vertigo did not disappear. My vision is no longer affected so now I can drive, but the lack of balance and feeling of off kilter still persists. I've had PT several times butit does not help. So now I just muddle along the best I can.

I take zyrtec daily to keep the fluid levels in my ears balanced, always carry meclizine and take the first hint of vertigo. I then sleep as much as I can until it goes away

Most vertigo goes away on its own, just as mysteriously as it appeared.
The Eply maneuver only works with BPV. If that the case, you will be good to go after a 20 minute series of maneuvers. Meclizine will help, but it makes me sleepy, even though it is supposed to be non drowsy.
My vertigo is due to a sphenoid sinus infection that ate into my right inner ear. If it doesn’t go away in a month, you probably need a CT scan. Sitting in a chair with arms and/or my feet on the ground helps. It also helps to be able to see a wall while I’m sitting. Use a handrail going up and down stairs and watch it if you are bending over to get into a kitchen cupboard or the oven especially. When bending over to pick something up, keep your head up and squat down, just reaching with your arm while keeping your head level.
I hope it gets better soon!

I have migraine associated vertigo, most times the vertigo comes on from low barometric pressure. I take Zyertec daily and have meclizine and valium to take during a dizzy spell. So far I haven't had any luck with finding anything else to help. Hopefully you will get good advice from the ENT doctor control or cure your vertigo.

I have had a recurring case of viral labyrinthitis for the last 10 years. I get it if I'm stressed. I've gone to PT, but that didn't work for me. I basically just had to let it run its course.
My doctor said it's most likely related to the chicken pox virus. Similar to how shingles can rear it's ugly head, so can this.

Horrendous. You have my sympathy. I had labyrinthitis last year and was ill for 8 weeks with it. I still occasionally have a strange wooshy feeling in my head from time to time.
