Happy March everyone! Surely I'm not the only one happy to see February leave the building? The weather has been awful. We had 23 days of cloudy weather, prompting the weatherman to refer to us as Seattle, TX last night. It has to get better, right? (crossing fingers!) Being sick the first half of the month didn't help my feelings toward the month either. I really need a do-over on February.
How did everyone do on their Feb goals? Is anyone adding (or carrying forward) any projects? Share your goals and projects with us here!
Pretty much zip was accomplished around here in Feb., so my goals will pretty much remain the same:
* Guest Room - eliminate more "stuff" * Photos - go through all the boxes and reclaim my dining room table * eBay - "List it or donate it" will be my motto this month * Sewing - "Just do it!" will the the battle cry in the sewing room. Started on some kennel quilts last night so need to continue the forward motion. * Clothing - Edit the Spring/Summer clothing as it comes out of storage. Get rid of things that don't fit or look ratty.

I’ve got boxes and boxes and boxes of kid school papers and kid art. I’ve got to reduce it by at least half, if not more.

It will make getting rid of stuff easier and quicker. Take photos of the artwork and toss. Same for any papers you think you might want in the future. I save the scans to my iCloud files and it's super easy to find them later on.

Can I put this out there?....it is okay to have stuff if it makes you happy and it isn’t a hazard.
My decluttering: I decided to fold clothes to make them fit my drawers, almost like the conmarie method but moreike my mother used to. I got all of husband’s T-shirt’s into one drawer! Now he can see all of them.
I folded my towels to fit the shelf and it looks like I threw out half of them.
Now try to figure out how to make my husband’s work shirts look nicer.

I DO keep a constant list going of what I'd like to clean or organize, but it depends on my health & DH's if I get anything accomplished.........
That being said, today was a good day to get things done. Even though it was in the low 80's and sunny (and the pool was 'calling' me), I stood firm and put all of my Valentine's Day dishes and decorations away (finally). I took out all of my Easter dishes and decorations which was a big feat. DS28 usually is a huge help to me and he moved out last summer. I realize how much I miss his help when I do tons of cleaning and reorganizing and he's not here to lug heavy things for me!
Once I put away all of the Valentine's stuff, I cleaned out my china cabinet, my counters, then I vacuumed the carpets and tiled floors and steamed them. I did all of the windows/ledges and mirrors. I condensed things in my pantry, so I stepped out to my lanai to put the boxes out there for garbage. Of course once I was out there, I began cleaning and organizing out there! I cleaned off the tables, the glass door, my front door (it gets moldy here, fast!), swept the floor, rearranged the tables, made a new candle centerpiece outside--candles and seashells we've picked up.. It looks GREAT out there! I hung an Easter wreath on the glass door to the lanai.
Then i began to put all of the Easter things away--the dishes into the china cabinet. I polished my tables and put out my Easter things. It looks adorable. The dinner table is all ready for dinner now! Looks very Spring-like!
I did my sheets and cleaned my entire bedroom, reorganized our end tables and refreshed any flower arrangements too. Looks like a hotel! I also did my master bathroom and made 1 more candle arrangement with seashells for in there.......... looks nice. I put away a lot of clutter.
Tomorrow (if I could walk! LOL), I'll steam the rest of my tile floors and carpet clean, clean the couch with the steamer, and then hopefully arrange some of my bills and paperwork. Honestly, if it's another nice day, the pool might "call" me!! I also have to go food shopping and I'd love a nice Sunday dinner in my clean house!!

It looks like Spring is here to stay. With the warm weather motivating me, this afternoon I switched out my winter and summer wardrobes. All the hanging clothes are organized and the drawers straightened out. I filled a large shopping bag with both winter and summer clothes that no longer fit or I've hung on for too many years. I also added 2 pairs of walking shoes. All the winter clothes that need to be dry cleaned are in the back of my car and will be dropped off in the morning. All that I have left to do is go through my scarf collection, decide what is staying and then figure out a better way to store them. I'm going to look at Marie Kondo's method tonight and see if that might work for me.
Tomorrow morning I have to do a quick clean and organizing in my laundry room. The decorator we used for our remodeling asked to come by and take some photos of the laundry room for her blog. That was the one room we never got photos of. It will be a good time to get rid of some things and clean out a cabinet I've been putting off. I'll have to link later when it goes up on her blog.
Is anyone else doing Spring cleaning or wardrobe swaps?

Youngest DS and I purged his closet and I'm almost done cleaning our oldest DS's former bedroom (he's almost 26 so it was time). We kinda have a busy month so no other projects to work on planned. I do intend to shelf cook meaning eating out of our freezer and pantry so I guess that is in a sense more purging right?!?!

I put out a few faded ride on toddler toys from the backyard next to the trash can. They were gone in minutes.
Other than that, I've been completely consumed with taking care of my dd after surgery, so everything else has been moved to the back burner.

I am working on my clothes. I did not do the Marie Kondo pile everything on the bed technique because I really do not have enough clothes for that to be worthwhile, IMO. I can flick through my hangers easilsy enough. I did use her folding methods for my tee-shirts, which I think is a brilliant method. I can now see each tee at at a glance. I admit graphic/funny tees is a weakness of mine. I have now vowed to buy no more because even after purging I have enough to last me for 3 weeks without a repeat. Enough.
I also cleaned out a hall closet and got rid of a lot of miscellaneous gifts we had received that I was holding on to. They are gone. Yeah!

I couldn't sleep last night so I attacked my bathroom.
I went from 1 1/2 closest to just one and put aside 2 trash bags shoved full of clothes to consign. I also went through the bathroom cabinets and boxes of hair and beauty products I had stored from a side job i used to have. I have a tote of makeup and hair products and 4 gallon bags shoved full of shampoo and conditioner samples from business trips at fancy hotels. I'm giving my sons girlfriend dibs and then dropping it off at the womens shelter.
I just moved my office to a different room and am working on setting the old office up as a guest room, making another room a smaller office, and purging bedding to donate to a family that had a house fire

Good job! I know what you mean about having trouble with heavy things when the kids aren't around to help. Two of my daughters are in college, so we have to save the heavy lifting stuff until they are home. My husband and I have bad backs.

Do a Google search for "scanning apps Android" and you will see there are several to choose from. It's a great tool to add to the organizing arsenal!

Now that I am unemployed (by choice), I can get back to cleaning/decluttering. On the list for this month:
-pulling all the dead growth from dh's veg beds -cleaning and thinning the game/linen closet -cleaning the main fridge and freezer -cleaning and thinning all the under the sink cabinets in 3 bathrooms
I am very proud of my 16 yo son. Last month he got tired of all the clutter in his room. It had been building up for 4 years. He got rid of 2 bags of trash, 1 recycling, 3 boxes for the attic, and 5 bags to Goodwill. He re did his moveable closet to fit his needs and hung up most of his clothes!!!

Managed to get the laundry room cleaned and the shelves organized. Emptied the lower cabinets, cleaned them and then reorganized where I had things stored to make them more accessible. There is a set of open shelves above the washer/dryer so I took everything down, cleaned the shelves (I will never, ever have open shelving again!), rearranged the things on them. Moved some of the vases to a lower cabinet and the rest to a lower shelf so I don't need a ladder to get one. Also moved a basket I keep speciality laundry cleaners in to a lower cabinet rather than being on the shelf. Still easy to access but not in the way. I added a large vase to the donation bag. Put all the bags of dog treats into cabinets, rather than on the shelf above the sink. Looks so much neater now. I also had a "duh" moment. There is a tall metal trash can at the end of my dryer, next to the door. You can also see the hose connection for the dryer, which is ugly. I discovered that if I set the trash can at an angle, hiding the hose, it was also easier to open the trash can. It's only taken me 6 years to figure that one out!

Even tho I live in "sunny FL", I consider everything here to look dead as well. There are no beautiful trees or flowers here. No color. Every day looks the same, depending on the rain....... It's dreary to me! I long for being back up north and waiting for things to bloom and look beautiful. But even when I lived my first 51 years up north, I still decorated on this timetable in preparation for the next holiday or season...
ETA: I did get to do the wreath. Hobby Lobby apparently doesn't know what Dogwood trees look like, but it came out cute with smaller flowers anyway:

I try to be careful, but there I am, climbing onto my washer/dryer to reach shelving above it (I have some dishes boxed up there), and climbing onto my kitchen counters to clean above my cabinets and rearrange..... Putting heavy boxes up high is a problem, but I did it..... and I was SORE the next 2 days! If I fall (God forbid), it would set me back with all of my eye surgeries, so I try to be careful..... I understand your situation!

I cleaned out my beauty supply cabinet (why was I keeping 1/2 bottles of shampoo that made my hair icky?!?)
I FINALLY tackled my shredding piles. Got 2 garbages bags full of envelopes and stuff that could go straight to recycle. Down to 2 grocery bags of the stuff that actually needs to be shredded!
Both boys cleaned out their closets, so load to our local Mission will happen tomorrow
And 3 bags of books that the kids don’t read anymore are loaded up for a run to make 50 cents at Half Price Books. LOL!
I have much more to do, but feel really good about the progress!

Yesterday I tackled my sons' closet. It is an oddly shaped closet. Super shallow. Very tall, but unusable because you can't reach the top 4 feet of space due.
I pulled out the board games, and Beyblade arena. I've decided no toys allowed in the closet because it's a small enough space as it is for multiple kids' clothes and footwear.
I pulled out just a few outgrown items from my youngest's side. A suit, a few dress shirts, etc. still in great condition, just not his size anymore. I'll donate them to the synagogue thrift on Monday.
I pulled the spring and summer clothes, and made them easy to access.
And put the next size up clothes in a labelled clear bin.
It's funny how making the clothes more easy to access lifts stress that was actually weighing on me.

Checking in for the first time in March, yikes! I still haven't finished my Feb goals but I am wrapping them up by the end of this month. Baby steps. I've made some progress on all of them, just haven't been able to finish the job on any of them yet due to random household and school emergencies (nothing major, just things that pop up that I have to take care of RIGHT AWAY). How's everyone else doing?

I got my oldest DS room cleaned out and even straightened up my scrapbook room. Tomorrow I'm going to make a trip to Goodwill to drop off my donations.
