I suggested to DH that before the final season begins, we should watch the whole series, both as a refresher since it has been off the air for so long, and also that when all the final revelations happen, we can understand them better. We just finished episode 3 of season 3, so we have a ways to go, but we are moving along pretty well and I expect us to finish on time for the premiere. It's funny to see all the little things that happened so long ago you'd forgotten them. But even this early in the series, the deaths are starting to pile up. Maybe I should have made this post a poll. "At what point will the deaths be too overwhelming?" The Red Wedding is coming. And I am worried for all my favorite characters (the ones who haven't already been killed, that is) in the final season. I know there will be more of them killed, and I know characters I just love will be among them. I am just too invested in this show.

That’s how I watched it start to finish after the end of last season. BFF really wanted me to watch it with her so we did. I didn’t think I’d like it. I have a book I put together with family trees (where I mark in red who killed them) and notable persons, history of each major house, the history of The Wall, Westeros and Essos, etc. it helped me understand what is going on so much! DH is watching it with me now to get caught up. And tomorrow and Friday BFF and I are watching the entire last season. When next season starts we will be going over and hanging out with her and her husband for all 6 episodes. Very much looking forward to it!
As for who dies and who ends up on the throne? I hope Cersei dies. Love Tyrion and would like to see him on the throne, I think he’d make an excellent leader. I used to love Dany but her decisions lately are questionable. Not a huge Sansa fan, and I love Arya but feel she is better suited to a different role. John Snow would be okay.

DH and I just finished re-watching everything. There are so many things I didn't pick up on the first time or that I'd forgotten.
I'm also listening to the podcast Binge Mode. Their first season was a deep dive of every episode in seasons 1-6. There are things that we didn't catch even on the re-watch.
I can't wait for the final season...and I'm also sad for the final season.

I hear ya! I've been doing the same thing, and I'm halfway through season 5... I'm getting anxious that I won't finish in time. There's a lot of little details that I've forgotten about, and it's been fun to see the characters progress. I'm also watching the 'after the show' comments after each episode, where they talk about how and why they chose to film certain things the way they did.
(I still did find the Red Wedding disturbing, but it was a tiny bit easier to watch all of Joffrey's actions while KNOWING that he was going to die, lol.)
ETA: all of the episodes are available on HBO. DH wanted to get rid of HBO once we had to start paying for it (we had gotten it for free when we first got our cable pkg) but I won't let him-- at least not until AFTER the final season of GoT airs.

DD and I rewatched and just finished. She calculated when we should start and how many to watch so we would finish, but we sped up a bit since I’m going on a trip. We plan to watch via FaceTime together since I’ll miss the first episode. I really enjoyed rewatching, personally.

I will say, I fast forwarded through any scenes where Ramsey tortured Theon, and I'm not sure what to do about the Sansa / Ramsey scenes... they're coming up soon.

I just binged the entire show last summer after season 7 aired. I had never watched it before, too much hype turned me off. But omg once I started I couldn't stop. I watched all 7 seasons in about 3 weeks. I cant go down that rabbit hole again. lol But I will probably watch the last few episodes of season 7 to refresh my memory where it left everything.

I watched the entire series for the 4th time in January and I'm considering doing it again before the new season I probably won't, but I may watch the last season. I joked on here a few months ago about buying a new tv for the new season like some people buy new tvs for the Superbowl. I may have gotten a new tv last week...

OK, listen to this. When it first stared airing it was appointment TV for us. DH had read the books and I have not. So when the episode would air on Sunday evenings we would watch. But there were rules. No talking or pausing and such. I just went into it fresh and wanted to just experience it as it had been presented. So no interruptions from DH. THEN Monday evenings we would re watch the episode and DH could pause and talk and expound on the show with his extensive book knowledge. THEN once the seasons were over we would re watch the season. THEN A couple months ago we started from the beginning and binged every season available. I caught even more stuff I had not realized!!

DD& I just finished re-watching all of Season 7 to get ready for the new season to start. I'm debating about going back and re-watching selected episodes from other seasons. DD & I have both read all of the books, and I'm currently reading "Fire and Blood", which has the history/backstory of the Targaryens. DH doesn't watch because he doesn't want it to inadvertently interfere with his storylines that he creates for the D&D game he runs. (He has watched a few random/isolated scenes with DD & I -- just doesn't want to know anything about the storyline, or what's going on with individual characters. He's just basically seen enough to know that Cersei is a b*&ch, LOL.)

Just a few weeks to go until the last episodes are here! Didn’t George RR Martin say that the clues to the ending are all in Season 1? There are some interesting fan theories based on that. Something that helped me understand everything, besides watching with BFF who has read all the books and seen every episode multiple times and loves answering questions, was reading the episode summaries and notes from Wikia after I watched each episode or groups of episodes. They point out a lot of things I would have otherwise missed.

rewatched S1, E1 last night! On to the next tonight. I know I will have to speed up the watching to get all of them in. Me too! I watched S1, E1 last night along with E2. While I was watching E3 I fell asleep on the couch so I'll have to rewatch E3 tonight. DS reminded me last night to start rewatching "Game of Thrones" before the season begins again. I've never rewatched any of the episodes. I've only watched them once-when they originally aired-or after I'd recorded them to zip past the commercials. Watching it again was fun. I've been rewatching them on HBO-On Demand.

I've never been a viewer, just was in the room while dh watched it. Last week he rewatched season 7 and last night I told him that a lot of people are rewatching the entire series...next thing I know we had watched the first two episodes. We'll probably continue tonight. The cast members look like babies!

My DD got me a three month subscription to HBO Now for Xmas just so I could watch this series. It is one of my favorite presents ever😊.
I watched the last episode Sunday night. I think I could watch this series over and over. There are just so many details to keep you thinking.
The funniest part was my DH did NOT want to watch it with me. He thought it would be boring. He begged to watch this show because he was so hooked, lol.

Now I want to watch Season 1 again to look for clues to the ending.

The funniest part was my DH did NOT want to watch it with me. He thought it would be boring. ha! my DH will not watch it, and says 'how interesting can sex and swordfights be?' I've tried to explain to him that it's about so much more than that, but my description of dragons, politics, battles, etc. doesn't really help, lol. I think it's something you just have to watch for yourself and you're either hooked, or you hate it. Although I must say, when I watched the VERY first episode, I DID think, "WTF am I watching?!?" (re: Cersei and Jaime) but I kept watching, and it very quickly got me hooked. I'm also reading the books now (I'm in Feast for Crows right now), but I never would have tried reading them if I hadn't watched the show first.

You guys need to pick up last week's issue of Entertainment Weekly! Its a GOT ENCYCLOPEDIA! seriously, every season, every episode break down. A family tree with PICTURES...maps...its totally worth picking up.
I am in panic mode. I tried rewatching last season again but I am so lost. So then I went back to six and am STILL LOST. I can't remember shit! I have to go back to one, seriously. But do I have time? WAHH

Another thing that pinged in my head on my last rewatch was all the characters who were introduced early on and at the time I didn't think anything of them; I thought they were bit players and would be gone in an episode or two, but they're STILL here and are major players! Like Bronn for example, and Brianne and Davos. And who knew how important Samwell Tarley would become??
Y'all, I can't begin to explain how much I love GOT. I completely believe it is the best television show that has ever been made.
