Growing a single marijuana plant carries a sentence of up to 30 years Years ago I had a neighbor whose 5-6 yr old son brought her some seeds. The planted them in a pot, carefully tended them and one of them grew large right in the sunny kitchen window... Oops another neighbor said that is POT... Mom had to secretly start killing the plant, couldn't just throw it away. Son was very sad when his pant died......... We laughed about that for a very long time!!

even people who have always been incredibly responsible and independent end up in dire straits and need help. I truly hope you learn that lesson and gain some empathy without having to become someone going through the worst time of your life and in desperate need but unable to find the resources you need. Resources are slowly disappearing...

Sorry, but no way am I clicking on your link. Even if you don't give a rat's ass if a woman bleeds all over herself every month, can you not see how unsanitary the conditions would quickly become if every woman who isn't menopausal bleeds all over the place? Even if you don't care about the unsanitary conditions the prisoners will live in, what about those who work at the prison? Should they have to work in an environment with blood everywhere? Give them some old rags like women use to. You have to do a lot of sorry shit to land in prison. Not sure why I keep responding to you.
So, who is going to wash all those bloody menstrual rags? A prison employee? Or are the prisoners going to wash them out in the bathroom sinks? You know, we have sanitary practices for a reason. While you may think it is a good idea to deny female prisoners the basics in female needs because ya know, they are criminals after all, any of the other options involve more money in employee costs or just plain gross practices that put everyone at risk of contamination from blood. Not just the prisoners, but the employees. Do you really not give a shit about them??? I think I know the answer to that. I'm sure you will find a way to say those employees deserve it if they choose to work in a prison, right?

The key words are employee and prisoner, being employed is good - prisoner is bad, they are criminals. Check this out, you ready - prisoner is responsible for their own hygiene products O-M-G.

One last response, then I am DONE. You aren't getting it. The things you are proposing for women prisoners don't just punish the women prisoners. They punish those who work in the prison. No tampons/pads, let women bleed? Prison employees have to deal with the ramifications of that. Give them rags to stuff in their underwear? Employees either have to deal with the rags, OR they have to deal with the messes that are created when the prisoners have to wash out their own rags.
Good grief. I am done. I cannot believe that any woman would be okay with feminine products being denied to any woman when they are needed for a bodily function that is out of anyone's control.

The comment about the prisoner being responsible for her own feminine hygiene products... how? She can't work because she's in prison; how is she expected to be responsible for procuring her own supplies?
Yes, women (and men) are in prison because they broke the law, but that does not mean we (as a society) turn our backs on all convicted felons and shame them for a normal bodily function. This is about dignity and respect, not teaching these women a lesson by withholding tampons and pads.

And if we do, are we any better than countries like North Korea and others who have no problem with human rights violations? We are better than that. Or at least, we should be.

Not anymore, now we imprison children simply because thier parents came here to ask for help. Now *WE* perpetrate human right violations.

Our prison system had perpetrated human rights violations for a very long time. It seems normal to us, but it’s not. Mass incarceration solves nothing and creates many problems.
