I am happy to say that nothing has rusted so far.. phew. ribbons and so forth still look fine, maybe a little flat but I still like the look..
Epoxy stickers, while I never used a ton of them, yes whatever I do have yellowed.. I think I am almost rid of all of it.
What I regret most in my early days is using glue sticks. I have had to restick a lot of pages.
And cutting of pictures.. AGGGGG.. I am in the middle of re-doing ONE album (which I said I never would).. but the album itself fell apart. It was a post bound (which thankfully I only used for special smaller albums) I have always used the 3 ring type... But since I had to put all these pages in a new book I started thinking maybe I can revamp a few pages here and there.. which I did and so happy about it. I took those horrible horrible cut up pictures and tried to square them up and even though they are still cut up I layered them on square matting.. So that helped a bit. I kept these pages simple to try to keep with the style and not overthink it.. it's actually been fun to do..

I hate an ATG gun but if I run out, I always have a couple of boxes of the squares just in case... and if I am running low on those I cut them in half!! LOL.. They are strong, none of those have fallen off....

My style has changed so much and I don't love my oldest layouts, but the only thing I really regret is cutting my photos into shapes.

When 'lumpy stuff' got popular, it seems like anything was fair use so I have things like rocks, those glass flat marble things, and all kinds of heavy metal embellishments like that product line called Architecture. They looked so nice but really dented the pages. The product I most regret using is shape templates on my photos. I can stand almost anything but my mutilated photos. Those things were really big when I did my 2005 European albums filled with pictures of castles. I couldn't get enough of that stuff!

Washi. Luckily, I didn't get too far with it before I noticed it sucked lol I use my washi for exactly two things: protecting the metal edges of my shim, and holding down dies. It baffles me that people use it for more permanent things when its whole nature is to be super light-tack. Yeah, I use tape to make sure it sticks.

I'm there with you about the mutilated photos; ugh! And yes, anything epoxy has discolored. I'd never use it again.

I’d have to say Making Memories rub-ons. Sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn’t. You should see some of my pages, lolol. And also so many Jolees.

I think they have all been mentioned here but the biggest would be adhesive. I used so many different types and brands of adhesive in early days but the worst were cheap adhesive runners that dried up really quickly, spray on adhesive from a can, glue sticks and the worst was 3M vellum tape, great when you first used it and 100% did its job until it dried out and went brown under the vellum and would no longer stick. Another mention would be cheap rub-ons, epoxy stickers and anything metal as most of it has rusted over the years.

I just noticed this weekend that some of the open back flair I had bought from A Flair for Buttons was rusting inside the rim - pitched more than a dozen of them. It made me doubly mad because I had ordered the open backs by mistake in the first place.
It never occurred to me this could happen. Before reading this thread, I thought the ones with the metal or cardboard backs would be okay but probably not. They will probably rust through, won't they?

I wish I didn’t follow trends and get caught up in the Hall of Fame bullshit because that’s what killed scrapbooking for me. I am happy with a sticker sneeze. If someone else doesn’t like it I don’t show my work anyway so it’s only me I scrapped for. DS can throw out the albums if he wants. I won’t be alive anyway. It was my hobby and I enjoyed it. I regret trying to keep current and not true to myself. I loved K&Co and no one liked them I loved all of it. It wasn’t cool to use it but I bought it all. I am keeping it.

RUBBER. Oh my, why did I ever? They don't age well and some have even "sweated" during summer here (very warm, dry summers). I'm trying to move on from staples to stitching to avoid rusting in the future although, again, I live in a dry climate. I trust nothing!

While it didn't kill scrapbooking for me, I hear you, oh do I hear you....I look back at some of my albums where I was being more "on trend" and I just hate them, they look so weird. Being published didn’t ‘ruin’ scrapbooking for me Being on my local LSS design team didn’t ruin things for me. I do have pages I don’t like as a result of participating in challenges I chose to participate in. That’s on me. What did ‘ruin’ scrapbooking for me was Ex’s passive aggressive digs. While he said he supported my hobby & even bought me expensive scrapbooking tools, everytime I tried to scrapbook with him around there were comments about the things I could better spend my time on. Things like, isn’t there laundry to be done? Or ‘you have time for that? Nothings dusted?’ Etc I could only scrap when he wasn’t home and I had to have it all put away by the time he did get home or there’d still be a comment. Strangely enough I still didn’t scrapbook the year I had alone in the house. But now I’m back & my pages are my pages. I don’t care who does or doesn’t like them. I still do simple layouts and things like that. Whatever happens to the books happens. Whatever. Same with the cards. I go to card classes and make 3-4 cards for $18-$25 and then I don’t gave to spend $3-$6 on hallmark cards. Plus I spend 2-3 hours st my LSS crafting with other ladies. If the people u send cards to throw them out so he it. Can’t be pack rats

Things like, isn’t there laundry to be done? Or ‘you have time for that? Nothings dusted?’ Etc Anyone said that to me, I'd go "And are your arms broken? Don't see you cleaning." What a toxic person. I hope you've found a better emotional environment since then.
