Last week A.C. launched their new Designer Destination products on social media with a release date of 4/1 at select Joann stores. I called my store and the manager had no idea what I was talking about so I emailed Joann customer services. I asked 1.) If my store is getting in these products, and 2.) What the expected arrival date is for these products.
I received this response today:
I am thankful for the opportunity to assist you today!
Unfortunately, I do not see that this item will be carried by JOANN at this time. I'm sorry!
Wtf?!?
Joann isn't carrying any of the designer destination products? Ever? I emailed back but I am not hopeful. This is why I don't shop at Joann! They never have the items I want in stock, horrible in-store customer service, slow check out process, and none of the products I want are ever available. I am so annoyed.

Both Michaels and Joann near me have the same, terrible service. They are totally clueless about their own store, stock, and even how to checkout people in an efficient manner.
I feel like neither of these operations know what’s going on at a store level, so I’m not surprised you got a canned shitty response.

I stopped in my J's the other day and they were cleaning out a bunch of sb stuff. I hope that means some of the Designer Series stuff is coming. But who knows. No one in Customer Service could tell me anything.

The really really really fun part is that they are like Hobby Lobby in that they don't do things across the board at the same time. That means, when things do finally hit shelves, they'll hit closer to their HQ in the midwest and then go out from there...with the west coast getting it dead last like a month after the rest of the country.
I've had releases that they did in fact get sell out on me because I'd call EVERY FREAKING DAY about them (and this was at a point where I could see it said in stock at that location on their website) for a month and the day I finally gave up would be the day I'd miss them because I'd go check the stock online the next day (you know, the stock they like to insist is wrong) and it would all be sold out.
Their phone customer service for handling online orders is phenomenal and I can't speak highly of it enough. The people aren't knowledgeable about the product, but they are very helpful and accommodating. In store, I've asked questions and gotten nowhere only to ask follow up questions because I wasn't accepting their non answers to then have the person I was talking to turn around and ignore me because she didn't want to deal with providing actual customer service. She kept trying to give me 'I don't know' replies hoping I'd just give up, but I only got more and more persistent with more specific and detailed questions to make sure she knew that I expected her or someone to look and find a way to help me...and it was about this very type of thing. Why wasn't the product where it was supposed to be, how do I get it...surely there is a way to do a special order and honor the current sale pricing in that department or issue a raincheck, etc. Online and instore is like dealing with two completely different companies. I'm far nicer to the people on the phone because they are just much better to deal with, even if it is frustrating that I call with problems on a regular basis because the people who pack orders are about as qualified as a lot of the in store staff...which would be not at all.

I called my local joanns and ended up being told that they don’t expect the new stuff in until the 3rd week of April. It took a little bit of explaining of what it is but finally someone the first girl spoke with knew.

scrapaddict702 my experience with Joanns is very similar. I reached out to American crafts on Instagram today and will hopefully get some answers. I boycotted my local Joanns store for years because of shitty customer service. One of the first times I went into the store I grabbed a cart, then looked up for some reason. The ceiling was really high and I could see giant (and I mean GIANT) spiders and webs hanging from the ceiling. I am horribly arachnophobic and I grabbed my cart and ran into the store. I told the first employee I saw that their store has big spiders on the ceiling and she shrugged her shoulders and said "that's not my problem". I left my cart in the store and walked out. I didn't return until they remodeled and put in a drop ceiling in the cart area, which is now spider-free.

I hope people continue to contact American Crafts about their displeasure with how this roll out was implemented. Crate Paper had hyped it on their social media and Shimelle was promoting it and it’s crickets from JoAnn’s. Clearly something wasn’t communicated within the partnership.

I feel your pain!!! I want Heidi swapp’s new storyline albums, which were supposed to be available yesterday. They are showing as sold out online. My local Joann’s knew nothing about them, didn’t know if they would get them, and can’t order them for me. Sigh. I really want the silver glitter album.

I'm going to give it until the end of the month but I'm not holding my breath. The whole thing has been a mess (for anyone who hasn't already seen the discussion about how they got all the store names messed up - page 2 of craftymom101's other thread) and Joann's has some pretty crappy customer service. It sucks. I don't find Michael's much better and I don't shop at HL.

A CS rep from Joann's emailed me today and informed me that she has no idea when or where the Designer Destination products will be available. Awesome.

The lines are available for online purchase and on sale. There is also 3 dollar shipppng and 40 percent of everything that’s not on sale. I just placed my order.

Joann's and Michael's are all that left in my area, HL and Craft Warehouse in the next town over (I go now an then, but the CW prices are so high, never have any coupons)....but our Joann's...even the bathroom was gross! I emailed them and they cleaned it up. Seriously, can't even get the bathroom right? I have standards where I um....you know.

My JoAnns has a great staff. I know it’s not the norm and I’m lucky. We used to have a teeny tiny store with mostly just fabric then the moved and it’s a huge store now.
My Joann’s does not have the new stuff yet- it says I can order online & pick it up free, which usually means it’s in the store, but nothing was on display.

I'm pretty frustrated with this whole thing as well. The designers are all hyping it on social media, but joanns has no clue whats going on. Shimelle posted a helpful pdf of stores that would be getting the lines, but the cities and sotre locations didn't match up. Not her fault, but when it's been brought to the attention of AC they have no response. I'm honestly so frustrated with AC and their entire summer release. Everything is sold out. My LSS got one sheet of the new Crate Paper summer line. She ordered it all and they sent her one piece. Now this mess with Joanns. Some online exclusive. Some in store exclusive. All impossible to get. I don't want to play these games with craft supplies.

I had a gift card from my birthday to spend, so ended up picking up the Sunny Days Project pad and 6x8 paper as well as a WRMK album and some adhesive. Bummed the ephemera was out of stock, but maybe it will reappear in store someday.

I'm sure they do it because it makes us spend more, but it turns me off so I often end up not buying anything at all.

I am super annoyed that two of the stores close to me both say they have it in stock, so I ordered online for in store pickup. 24 hours later they cancelled my order. I checked the other store that supposedly had it in stock and nothing, not even a spot for it.

I took the trip to mine because it showed in stock. The people there said they are doing inventory next week and then setting up the new displays. So looking at the third week in April.

I can just about 100% confirm that my stores will NOT be getting it. It is in the state next door but listed as not available here...so ONCE AGAIN, Vegas is completely left out.

I checked the other store that supposedly had it in stock and nothing, not even a spot for it. Almost the same thing happened to me at Christmastime when I was looking for the new Sweet Sugarbelle cookie cutters from American Crafts. It showed on the website that several stores near me had them “in stock” so I went to the first one and no dice. Asked some kid working there about it and he said, “Yeah, there’s about 150 full boxes of inventory stacked up in the back and I don’t have any idea which box it might be in. Maybe we’ll have some of it out by Wednesday or Thursday.” (It was Sunday, and the stuff was on sale so I wanted to get it before the sale was over.) Ugh. Went to another store and saw the planogram for it taped up on a totally empty shelf. Super helpful, NOT. Asked there too and they didn’t even know what I was talking about. Finally went home and ordered the stuff online with free pickup in store. Waited something like 3-4 DAYS and never got the text that it was ready to pick up, so I went to the store where it was supposed to be and again they had an empty shelf where it was supposed to be. This time I asked a manager and she said she would look for the stuff in the back. She came out with a shopping cart full of stuff still wrapped in the manufacturer’s bulk inventory packaging, and she basically said, “If you can find what you ordered in here, you can get it today.” Why, how thoughtful of you! I get it that all these stores are horribly understaffed, but come on. They’re going to have to start paying competent people enough to want these jobs or it’s only going to get worse and worse.

My store was showing 3 in stock for the Sunny Days ephemera so I purchased with the pick up in store option. Less than 2 hours later my order was cancelled. Meanwhile, the paper pad I ordered last week is still in fulfillment. Get it together Joann’s!
