Thank you! Now I get it. LOL sorry I'm still confused about this too. there's only 16 strips - but 10 fingers. how does that get 2 manicures out of those strips? wouldn't you need 20?? depending on the size, each strip can do 2 nails.

One nail strip covers 2 nails if your nails are short. I use 5 - 6 strips for one manicure. That leaves the whole other strip of 8 plus one or two stragglers.

Doing the dishes will kill a manicure for me. I get DH to wash and I dry, as we are waiting on a part for our dishwasher Yes, water is hard on nails, let alone a manicured nail. I don't really do much housework at all without gloves, let alone wash up. They just won't stand up to it well.

Thanks for the great tips! I am going to have to try some of the top coats mentioned. Can't wait to try some spring colors.

I always paint my own nails! I am a newborn photographer and need to manicure my hands the night before a session so they look good when I am fiddling around posing your 5-6 day old baby. Gel polish I cannot get off myself so that's out (plus it's destroyed my nails in the past). I HAPPILY splurge for pedicures though! In fact, I may go get one today. So anyway, my "trick" is, gel top coat! I use a base coat (currently it is Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails), whatever color I want (2 coats) then a top coat made for at-home gel polish (not one that needs a light to cure, mind you). I find it really helps keep my polish lasting longer, and I cook every day, workout with a barbell everyday, have my hands in water everyday, etc. I've been using the CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat (found @ CVS; about $10) and I find it's been working really well.

Great tips! I will have to get that nail polish when I stop by CVS today. Is the CND the gel top coat you use? Or is it a top coat to go over a gel top coat? I looked it up on Ulta website and it says to use only with CND polish. Do do you use it with other brands?
Update on what color you get for your pedicure! I am always asking people what color nail polish they are wearing when I compliment their nails. No one seems to do their own because when I ask, they say it's a number at the salon, and they can't remember. Oh well, I save money by not buying the polish color.

Stop buying so much nail polish and get my nails professionally done. It’s not worth the time nor expense. Feet included.

The best mani I ever got was from a 19yo goth kid years ago (he was one of DH's video game friends). He used an emery board to kinda rough up my nails and painted the edges on the front like someone else mentioned, then he did the same with the top coat and actually painted the underside of my nails with the top coat as well so it kinda wrapped around the whole nail. That was the only manicure I ever had that lasted several weeks (much longer than the salon manicure that I got the day of my wedding).
