Sherwin Williams is running a series of animated ads using paint chip sample cards. It reminds me of back-in-the-day when using paint chips on our pages was a small scale scrapping fad. It was shortly before we started using coasters on our pages, if I recall correctly. And then some folks got all hand-slappy about stealing the freebies, and I think the trend ended shortly afterward. Do you have paint sample cards in your books from way back when? I know I have at least one page. I "shingled" a cabin with paint chips for a GS camping page. The bigger question is, will you be inspired to use them on a page in 2019 ?

I picked my kitchen color for my in progress remodel from a SW ad on Instagram. I’m going with the color “Distance”. It’s a chalky blue. Now that we’ve removed the wall between the dining room and kitchen I’m thinking I might have to repaint my dining room the same color. It’s currently SW Bay Red above our wainscoting. The wainscoting, baseboards, crown molding and kitchen cabinets are all white. This is my design board for the kitchen: http://instagram.com/p/Bv0S9R6DEMw

I did - added them to a layout of us painting DS's room back in 2003 - it was the sample card with the colour we used.

That is going to be gorgeous lisacharlotteI used paint strips back in the day. But I punched designs out of them, instead.

So impatient to get it moving along faster. Almost everything is now in the living room. It’s like a hoarder home. http://instagram.com/p/BwF-64aD2ZF

But, I feel your pain. We did a renovation a few years back. The "during" is not fun!

I may have used one on a LO, but I don’t really remember. I can say that those commercials are BRILLIANT, though. I actually love watching them, unlike many other really stupid (toilet paper, Progressive Ins., ones with screaming...) commercials.

I’m going with the color “Distance”. I had this as one of my choices for my living room. It was my favorite, then I decided to go lighter, but DH just said he liked the darker... I'll probably still do a swatch and see. Do you have paint sample cards in your books from way back when? I know I have at least one page. I "shingled" a cabin with paint chips for a GS camping page. Yep. I think I do. But my favorite was the little countertop samples that were almost tag like. I'd cover them with embossing powder, stamp into the thick soft covering to leave a stamp imprint, and use that on my pages or cards.

Oh man I had forgotten all about this fad! I remember being so afraid to take a few paint and laminate samples at Home Depot! I think I still have a few floating around! I know i have completed pages with them somewhere.

I used paint chips on Halloween cards one year. I found colors with names that included harvest or dark or pumpkin, etc. they made great cards.

I have never used paint chips in my layouts, however, I have been enthralled with these Sherwin-Williams ads for years. They are so incredibly creative. I finally sent them an e-mail a couple of weeks ago telling them how much my family enjoyed the ads and that the teachers in my family tape the commercials to use in their classrooms for inspiration and to open their students minds. I suggested I would love to see a coffee table book of close ups taken from the commercials. I got the sweetest enthusiastic reply from their customer service dept.

Last year I did a page of my son painting his room and I included the paint samples card on the layout.

I do have paint chip strips in my albums!
I used a few that were Disney brand that has little Mickey heads on each color. I used it to journal on a Disney-related layout.
I know I also used some to make coordinated embellishments by paper punching shapes from the strip.
I didn't take handfuls, and don't have any guilt or regret in taking them.
