Today was the Air Force graduation. Trump spoke. The traffic was stopped for miles for hours. While this is normal for a Presidential visit, I was kind of surprised at the reactions of every single person I met today. I was in 6 stores and everywhere people were griping about him. Not one person called him the President or President. Trump. Everyone referred to him as Trump or a little more snarky. There were tons of eye rolls and groans about him. I live in a purple state and was really quite surprised at the way everyone responded. I know some people say that most people are just sick of him, but today was really telling from my perspective.

Yes, we have quite a religious area up north, but I think people are just frustrated with the lack of maturity he has shown. I really only have one friend now who still thinks he's the bees knees. Her husband has over 250 guns. So there is that.

Steve King (IA-R) is at it again....... He's not a racist, or so he says! Washington (CNN)GOP Rep. Steve King of Iowa, seeking to bat away allegations of racism by an angry constituent, warned Tuesday against presuming that different cultures are equal. In his comment at a town hall meeting, King argued that doing so would devalue the Founding Fathers of the United States. His comment comes months after House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, a California Republican, announced that the longtime Iowa Republican was being removed from congressional committee assignments following racist comments. In a video of the town hall posted to King's Facebook page on Tuesday, the congressman can be seen getting into a heated back-and-forth with someone at the event who challenged his statements as "dehumanizing." After a lengthy argument, King told the audience that he does not "deal in race." "If we presume that every culture is equal and has an equal amount to contribute to our civilization, then we're devaluing the contributions of the people that laid the foundation for America, and that's our Founding Fathers," King said. "They understood this. They understood all of the things that I've just described, and they shaped it into our Declaration. They shaped it into our Constitution that laid the foundation for the greatest nation the world has ever seen, and we need to hang on to those principles and restore them and refurbish the pillars of American exceptionalism." ** ...............that the terms "white supremacist" and "white nationalist" were considered offensive. King said his comments had been taken out of context, and that he rejects white supremacist ideology and labels on individuals. Shortly thereafter, McCarthy removed King from serving on committees in the current Congress. ** www.cnn.com/2019/05/29/politics/steve-king-culture-founding-fathers-iowa/index.htmlThere is video in the article

Good old Betsey is at it too! House Oversight and Reform Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) has reportedly accused the Department of Education of blocking an investigation from his committee into the attempted removal of the agency's acting independent watchdog.Cummings reportedly said that department officials did not turn over documents requested by his committee regarding the Trump administration’s attempt earlier this year to replace its acting inspector general (IG), according to Politico. Politico noted that the refusal to hand over documents comes after acting IG Sandra Bruce began investigating Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’s decision to reinstate the federal status of an accreditor of for-profit colleges.** Politico reported that Cummings’s investigation began in January after President Trump chose Phil Rosenfelt, the Education Department’s deputy general counsel, to replace Bruce. The appointment was later rescinded following blowback from Democrats who said the selection was an attempt to interfere with the inspector general’s work. ** thehill.com/homenews/administration/446271-cummings-accuses-education-dept-of-blocking-probe-into-attemptedToo much to keep track of tonight, they are trying to do stuff under the table while we are busy checking all the other stuff they are trying to do under the other table!

Does Donald Trump understand that he will be taxing the American people for those imports from Mexico? That Mexico will not have to pay the taxes? This is a really stupid idea.
I’m guessing that he thinks of the taxes on Mexican imports get jacked up high enough that constituents will start screaming at their elected officials to do something about immigration. I don’t think this is going to work out that way for him. People are going to freak out over prices of tomatoes and avocados and start screaming at him to reduce them, as he is the one who is implementing them.

trump on his grand plan... ”On June 10th, the United States will impose a 5% Tariff on all goods coming into our Country from Mexico, until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our Country, STOP. The Tariff will gradually increase until the Illegal Immigration problem is remedied,..” ”....at which time the Tariffs will be removed. Details from the White House to follow.” So that means the cost of goods is going to go up for the American Consumer. His tariffs on goods from China has already knocked our economy from first place to third as noted in an earlier post. Remind me how this #MAGA? And why people want to support him? Guess he doesn't care about Texas' 38 electoral votes. This is baaaaaad for our economy. This is bad for Americans as a whole. It’s us who will pay more for FOOD it’s us who will be punished. But hey #MAGA and maybe it will stop all the people they think are threatening their privileged position in the society they want. #regressive social policies

Kristen Gillibrand..
”The DNC could CUT candidates from the stage if they don’t have 65,000 donors. We haven’t hit that goal yet, and the debates are less than 30 days away. So take a second to answer this important question:
Do you want to see Kirsten Gillibrand on the debate stage in June?”
No.

”In order not to pay Tariffs, if they start rising, companies will leave Mexico, which has taken 30% of our Auto Industry, and come back home to the USA. Mexico must take back their country from the drug lords and cartels. The Tariff is about stopping drugs as well as illegals!”
Either dimwit donnie doesn’t understand how tariffs work or he is flat out lying.
And I’m so damn tired of him lying about how the drugs come into this country.

NBC News...
”Third Republican blocks attempt to pass disaster aid in House”
”WASHINGTON — The House on Thursday, for the third time in a week, failed to pass a Senate-approved $19 billion bill providing disaster aid funding to parts of the United States hit by hurricanes, flooding, earthquakes and wildfires after another Republican lawmaker blocked the measure.
Rep. John Rose, R-Tenn., objected to a request Thursday afternoon to pass the measure by unanimous consent during a pro forma session. If it had passed, it would have gone straight to President Donald Trump’s desk for his signature.”

The tariffs will be collected and DEPOSITED into the TREASURY, boosting his numbers and to pay for his foolishness/wall/whatever. The importers/businesses will pay the tariffs and pass that cost onto US. Every middleman will charge more for us to pay more. Ultimately WE pay the TARIFFS, every damn penny of them. They are NOT telling the truth, not even the base! Remember he has admitted that he will be gone when the financial disaster hits!

Perhaps if he lived in a coastal state he would feel differently. Being from LA, we sweat out the hurricane season every year praying we don't get hit, just like TX, FL and the East Coast.
One of the main reasons I hope that now is because I can't imagine having to deal with Trump after a hurricane!! I can't imagine what it would have been like after Katrina if Trump was president!! I guess I would have had a nice collection of paper towels!!

(the sketch was related to needing immigrants to do jobs like picking produce; without them, your salad would cost $97 instead of $5) Apparently, that comedy bit will be coming true sooner than I think! Trump is such a tool, it's soooo exasperating. I’m guessing that he thinks of the taxes on Mexican imports get jacked up high enough that constituents will start screaming at their elected officials to do something about immigration. He doesn't care- it comes from the kitchen, or from the drive-thru, as far as he knows.

Remember when dt suggested he would like immigrants from Sweden? Not so sure he would like them protesting, but we could borrow a few to help us (maybe?) Sweden gets it right on abortion; Endorse the millionaires’ tax | LettersUpdated May 30, 5:15 PM; Posted May 30, 5:05 PM By Letters To The Editor | The Jersey Journal ‘Pro Life’ doesn’t cover life after birth"I find it highly hypocritical for men to oppose abortion and to pass laws severely punishing women who have abortions and doctors who perform them. Perversely, most of the same men have no problem with aggressive war making, including the collateral mass murders of pregnant women and children with their weapons of mass destruction. How can anyone claim to be “pro life” using the narrow focus of only a fetus, and disregarding or denying care for moms and children after birth? Just witness the multiple “nutritionally deprived“poor in the richest nation of the world, then tell me that our majority male legislators who pass such cruel punishing anti-abortion laws in states like Alabama are for life from birth to death of their struggling citizens. How ridiculous is such a lie, even if it be a lie based on self-deception. Let me tell you of a humane way to greatly reduce the number of abortions in the USA. Why not follow the example of Sweden, which passed a law in 1974 that greatly reduced the pregnancy and abortion rates of its teenage population? Teens were educated about sexual responsibility and had access to birth control. And all who wished to give birth would be given the financial wherewithal to care for themselves and their born children. The result was fewer abortions and healthy moms and children. Instead of making laws to punish doctors and moms for abortions, why not stop the hypocrisy and pass laws like Sweden has done? John P. Egan, Highland Lakes Link
