Apparently the new motto for the Republican when it comes to so many things like security issues is “Do what I say, not what I do.” Kushner did an interview and stated that there were only a few 'Russian' posts/ads on Facebook... Not of importance. Guess he missed the Mueller report.

It appears that the Supreme Court is going to allow the citizenship question to be on the 2020 census.
These corrupt monsters give me the sudden urge to vomit at least once a day.

It's a bad question to ask because it may discourage immigrants - whether illegal or because they have illegal immigrants in their household or friend group - from completing census paperwork. This could cause a drastic undercount of population in - let's see here - primarily urban, blue-voting areas, which affects things like representation in state and federal legislative bodies, electoral college votes, federal funding for programs based on population, etc.

”I will be going to Green Bay, Wisconsin, for a really big Rally on Saturday Evening. Big crowd expected, much to talk about. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” “The Radical Left Democrats, together with their leaders in the Fake News Media, have gone totally insane! I guess that means that the Republican agenda is working. Stay tuned for more!” see? just like I said in the Mueller report thread... he gets his panties all in a wad when he's called on his BS, and then he needs a 'feel good' rally to soothe his 2-year old toddler ego. I'm not sure how we (and I'm using that in the very general sense of 'America') will make it till 2020, honestly. which affects things like representation in state and federal legislative bodies, electoral college votes, federal funding for programs based on population, etc. It's not like they *MEAN* for this to happen... if it happens (when it does happen), then it will just be a happy accidental side-effect for the Republicans, right?

This is confusing to me. If non-citizens can't vote, why are they counted for purposes of electoral college population?

whether illegal or because they have illegal immigrants in their household or friend group kmcginn , I think you missed this part of Merge 's quote. Even if there are people in the household who CAN vote, they may not want the government 'keeping track' of them for MANY different reasons.

This is confusing to me. If non-citizens can't vote, why are they counted for purposes of electoral college population? Because the people elected to represent us represent ALL of us, even non-citizens. They represent people under the age of 18 - who also can't vote. They represent people who are felons - who also can't vote. They represent people who aren't citizens yet, but are here legally - who also can't vote. And they are supposed to represent people who DID vote, but maybe didn't vote for the person who won.
The Census also determines things like funding for various programs - and thinking that you have 1 million people but there are really 1.3 million people in an area makes a huge difference when planning for these programs.

This is confusing to me. If non-citizens can't vote, why are they counted for purposes of electoral college population? Because the Constitution says we have to count every person living in the country at the time of the census, period.

This is confusing to me. If non-citizens can't vote, why are they counted for purposes of electoral college population? They are counted for everything. The census is to count all people present at that particular time. Includes citizens, green car holders, and yes some undocumented, who all use resources, schools, hospitals. The Constitution, to my knowledge, says nothing about being a citizen.

Free speech! Great stuff! (CNN) The White House has ordered Trump administration officials to boycott the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, according to a senior administration official. The order was issued Tuesday morning by White House Cabinet Secretary Bill McGinley, who announced that all Trump administration officials are being ordered to boycott the dinner, scheduled for Saturday night. An administration official adds that the order came from Trump personally, though staffers have been trying to talk him out of it.The move marks yet another deterioration in relations between the White House press office and the press corps, though President Donald Trump had announced earlier this month that he would be skipping the annual dinner for the third year in a row. The President will instead hold a campaign rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the same evening. "The dinner is so boring and so negative that we're going to hold a very positive rally," Trump told reporters at the time. The usual tensions between reporters and government representatives have escalated to extreme levels in the Trump age, due largely to the President's near-daily attacks against the media. His portrayal of the people who cover him as his "enemy" and the "enemy of the people" has been denounced by historians, press freedom advocates and politicians in both parties. ** www.cnn.com/2019/04/23/politics/white-house-correspondents-dinner-trump-officials-boycott/index.html

Can someone explain to me why this is a bad question to ask on the census? I don’t understand what the big deal is. Isn’t it anonymous? I heard a report on NPR in which it was stated that there are procedural rules for adding a new question to the census, which included a three year “test” that determines whether or not the new question would cause an undercount. That is being ignored, which is especially bad since the experts who normally deal with the census are convinced it will cause an undercount. Question for those who know: how mandatory are the census demographic questions? IIRC, last time we had a census there were some conservative groups calling for respondents to only answer the questions that ask how many are in your household (and maybe their names? But not sure about the names.) If that is true, I think there needs to be a very active campaign to make sure residents of those areas in danger of an undercount know exactly what they do or do not have to answer. I could see legal-aid-type clinics where anyone can bring their census form for assistance to make sure they answer enough questions to be counted but not enough to make them targets.

So we threatened to veto a U.N. resolution about sexual violence in war zones because it included language referencing the “the need for U.N. bodies and donors to give timely ‘sexual and reproductive health’ assistance to survivors of sexual violence in conflict.” Apparently, that is code for abortion.😡 We did vote for it after the language was removed. So now, there is no need to protect reproductive health by treating STDs and other health conditions caused by rape and sexual slavery. And a 10-year-old girl impregnated during a gang rape? Yep, let’s force her to risk her life, mental health, and future reproductive health by continuing the pregnancy to full term.😡😡😡 www.reuters.com/article/us-war-rape-usa/bowing-to-us-demands-un-waters-down-resolution-on-sexual-violence-in-conflict-idUSKCN1RZ27T

“A very big Caravan of over 20,000 people started up through Mexico. It has been reduced in size by Mexico but is still coming. Mexico must apprehend the remainder or we will be forced to close that section of the Border & call up the Military. The Coyotes & Cartels have weapons!”
”Mexico’s Soldiers recently pulled guns on our National Guard Soldiers, probably as a diversionary tactic for drug smugglers on the Border. Better not happen again! We are now sending ARMED SOLDIERS to the Border. Mexico is not doing nearly enough in apprehending & returning!”

All of the Crimes were committed by Crooked Hillary, the Dems, the DNC and Dirty Cops - and we caught them in the act! We waited for Mueller and WON, so now the Dems look to Congress as last hope!” A rant by a poor pathetic little man. “High crimes and misdemeanors” doesn’t mean what he thinks it means. I was corrected on this point by conservatives on this board during a discussion on whether Obama could be impeached for one of his many perceived “high crimes and misdemeanors.” Oh how I long for the simpler days of tan suits and flip flops, and even taking “you can keep you plan” out of contex. In fact, I am sure one of the “high crimes” they wanted to impeach him for was “lying to the public.” When I pointed out that (1) he didn’t lie and (2) it wasn’t illegal, they said a “high crime” did not have to be a crime under a published statute. You can see apretty good discussion of the history and meaning of the phrase here: www.crf-usa.org/impeachment/high-crimes-and-misdemeanors.html. I had an excuse for not knowing the true meaning of the phrase—it is a rather obscure point for the general public. But Donnie Dimwit doesn’t! He has had a legion of attorneys looking at this for two years, and you know they have laid out the definition for him and explained what is or is not impeachable. The fact that he is tweeting deliberately false information about his lack of “high crimes” is more of a lie than “you can keep your plan.” In fact, if lying to the public was impeachable for Obama in the eyes of conservatives, I’m sure we can refer to the Trump lie tracker to find ample impeachable offenses if we wanted to. Personally, I do not want him impeached. It would be a waste of time and resources. Continue the investigations and get his tax returns. Get testimony from Mueller under oath. Build your case to show he is incompetent, corrupt, and unfit for re-election. If you can refer some underlings for indictment along the way, great. And if you do find that one big thing that would cause even the Republicans in the Senate against him in numbers high enough to remove him in an impeachment proceeding, by all means do it. At this point, though, I can’t imagine what would rise to that level. The Republican bar of acceptance for bad Trump behavior is so low that I believe it is virtually impossible for him to limbo under it at this point. Because judges and tax breaks for the wealthy and immigration and LBGTQ rights rollbacks and so on ad nausem to the point I want to puke! Impeachment proceedings will only hurt the Democrats come election time. They need to focus on working on an agenda that gives them a shot at flipping some of the 22 currently-Republican seats that are up for re-election in 2020 (need to pick up 3 or 4 to take control). Electing a Democrat but keeping a Republican Congress means we will be stuck with Mitch McConnell for at least two years and probably 4, given the makeup of the 2022 Senate elections. That means they will stonewall judicial appointments like they did under Obama, virtually guaranteeing another wave of extremely conservative judges the next time a Republican is elected. Impeachment might feel like “sweet revenge” for some Democrats, but we need to be concerned about the long game here. And quite frankly, I don’t think either impeachment or the Green New Deal is a winning strategy for the long game. There are three branches of hocmvernment, and the Republicans essentially contral two of them now with a stalemate in the third that makes it ineffective. Unfortunately, because the judiciary is willing to support the executive branch even when it ignores procedure and protocol, they have complete control of the government, since a neutered legislature can not pass laws that impose restriction on such actions. I’m not sure democracy can survive six more years of Trump, but I don’t think we can survive four more years of Mitch blocking any and all legislation if a Democrat is elected, either. ETA: Holy iPhone autocorrect and fat thumbs, Batman. I hope I’m getting them all, but of course that is after my post is copied in all of its typo glory LOL.

linkEssence.. “She, The People: Meet Rhiana Gunn-Wright, An Architect Behind The Green New Deal”Well if she one of the “architects” behind the Green New Deal, where are the plans? From the article.. ”Introduced in Congress by freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), the resolution outlines a 10-year mobilization with five key pillars. They include achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions; creating millions of good, high-wage jobs; investing in U.S. infrastructure and industry; securing clean air and water, climate and community resilience, healthy food, access to nature, and a sustainable environment for all; and promoting justice and equity in vulnerable communities. While the Green New Deal has generated ample buzz, not everyone knows that a Black think tank in Chicago called New Consensus, led by organizer and Morehouse alumnus, Demond Drummer, developed details of the proposal. “ All legislation has to meet certain goals. Our team did a deep dive into the research,” said Gunn-Wright, the policy director of New Consensus. “I also wrote a section of the policy paper.”
Gunn-Wright collaborated with Robert C. Hockett, a Cornell University law professor, to co-author the research paper “The Green New Deal: Mobilizing for a Just, Prosperous, and Sustainable Economy,” which was published in January 2019. ” I could sit down and write my version of the Green New Deal in an afternoon. The trick is coming up with the details needed to accomplish the goals, make it viable and understand the true costs and benefits. Which apparently their “deep dive into the research” didn’t accomplish. If you don't mind me butting in and saying I think you're not looking deep enough into what the Green New Deal actually means. And no, it doesn't only apply to the US. Countries around the world are working towards an end goal on some of what is covered within it that pertains to their own situations. The Green New Deal isn't a new thing. It's a goal that over time could be achievable....it's a look into the future of where a country needs to be, in say 10/20 years time, whatever the case may be for that particular country. It's not a matter of legislation coming in over night that has to be paid for todayt....it's a longer term plan ,which eventually would save money, cover poverty by creating meaningful jobs and save the planet. You can only come up with the details if everyone agrees as to what that end goal is but dismissing it before any discussion as to what that goal is, isn't at all helpful. The details come later. There's an interesting article on this here
