Oh, but that’s only the case if the office is held by a Democrat. None of those same standards apply if it’s your guy in the White House. I just love seeing all these old video clips surfacing that show exactly how hypocritical some of these major players are. Now more than ever I’m convinced that someone, somewhere has a buttload of dirt on all of the slimy Republicans that are circling their wagons around Trump. Trump isn’t the only one who needs to go (but it would be a good start).

They are so excited until the microscope comes out examining mr crooked x1000... oh, no! Now they will notice and examine me, too! Double down and protect mr 1000x who is actually the one who brought on your pain. Now they are upping their "crooked" exponentially, too.

How are the (Democrats) supposed to hold Republicans/this administration accountable by holding hearings when anyone they call in is defiant, refuses to answer the questions, or ignores subpoenas???

Not only that, but when the people do come in to testify, the Republicans on the panels asking the questions waste all kinds of time on nonsense trying to discredit the person in an effort to distract and derail the investigations.

Interesting from not whom one would expect—
“New Statement from Checks and Balances on the Mueller Report
April 23, 2019 Statement from co-founders and additional members of Checks & Balances:
The release of the Special Counsel’s report is a significant milestone in the civic life of the country. As attorneys who believe in the Constitution, the rule of law, and the importance of truth, we believe the report raises issues that all Americans, and especially those in public life — regardless of political affiliation — must consider seriously.
We are grateful for the service of Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the team of prosecutors and investigators who worked tirelessly for 22 months to conduct the most important national security investigation in a generation: the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, whether any Americans were part of those activities, and related matters. The Special Counsel team conducted itself professionally and in the highest traditions of the Justice Department.
The Special Counsel’s extensive investigation revealed, and the report released April 18th further confirmed, that there was a persistent effort by the Russian government to affect the 2016 U.S. election. U.S. intelligence community officials have continued to state publicly that these efforts continued through the 2018 midterm elections and remain a threat. Free and fair elections, without foreign interference, are at the heart of a healthy democracy. We call on the Director of National Intelligence and the Attorney General to ensure that the agencies under their guidance, supervision and direction have their full support and resources to address the ongoing national security threat presented by foreign interference in U.S. democratic institutions and processes. We call on Congress to conduct robust, bipartisan oversight to ensure that the threats posed by ongoing foreign malign activities are addressed as matters of the highest priority as we increasingly near the 2020 election.
The report further revealed a pattern of behavior that is starkly inconsistent with the President’s constitutional duty to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” The Special Counsel’s investigation was conducted lawfully, and under longstanding Attorney General guidelines. The facts contained in the report reveal that the President engaged in persistent conduct intended to derail, undermine and obstruct ongoing federal investigations. In light of the longstanding Department of Justice legal opinion that a sitting President cannot be indicted, we view it as irrelevant whether there is a prosecutorial recommendation that the crime of obstruction has been committed. Instead, we believe that the President’s conduct demonstrates a flagrant disregard for the rule of law — a disregard that is in direct conflict with his constitutional responsibilities, including his commitment under oath to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Information in the report also reveals that the President is willing to abuse presidential authority to pressure or remove Senate-confirmed officials for purposes that undermine lawful functioning of government and to direct subordinates to falsify the record on matters he knew were or likely were under investigation. The report’s details add to an existing body of information already in the public domain documenting the President’s violations of his oath, including but not limited to his denigration of the free press, verbal attacks on members of the judiciary, encouragement of law enforcement officers to violate the law, and incessant lying to the American people. We believe the framers of the Constitution would have viewed the totality of this conduct as evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors. Accordingly, Congress, which carries its own constitutional oversight responsibilities, should conduct further investigation.

And even more worrying, how do we deal with the American citizens who have taken the opportunity to show their hate openly? Doo we just pretend that we don't have Nazis living amongst us? What do you think COULD be done about people who have taken the opportunity to show their hate openly? It's not that there is anything I can do. It's just that I can't unsee it. The hate is out & about proudly now, and there is no going back to the thought that Nazis and white nationa lists are such a tiny minority that hide in the shadows for fear of condemnation. But when the president refers to them as very fine people, they feel no need to hide.

They are actively operating as an authoritarian state. WE are on the way. ”The White House has told Carl Kline, the fmr. security specialist who approved Jared Kushner’s security clearance, not to comply with a subpoena from the House Oversight Cmte., according to a letter obtained by @nbcnews” So Kline does not appear. Who is there to go arrest him for contempt of Congress? What about Sarah Sanders lying to Mueller? Who will address that? The answer is NO ONE! The country has just about been handed over the dt and crew! There is no law and order! No one has the power to make arrests...

But when the president refers to them as very fine people, they feel no need to hide. It's terrible that anyone thinks their race is superior to another and yes, the hate seems to be out and about in public, feeling comfortable enough about marching for their "cause". Did they ever do that before or this something entirely new? Didn't they use to be secretive? On the flip side, the hate is out and about with no qualms of violently attacking people for their politics. Beating up people for wearing a red hat. Feeling comfortable enough to stage a fake attack and blame someone wearing a red hat, knowing the investigative journalists would just assume it's true of someone because they were wearing that hat and wouldn't investigate it. Encouraging hate on behalf of political beliefs. Politicians inciting riots and the ensuing possible violence against opposing political parties. Businesses and employees refusing to serve customers based on their political leanings. People feeling comfortable enough to encourage hate and demonize others based on their political beliefs and a red hat.

Trump plausibly committed impeachable offenses. A leading expert explains how. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/04/22/trump-plausibly-committed-impeachable-offenses-leading-expert-explains-how/"Philip Bobbitt, the constitutional scholar at Columbia University, is among those who have wrestled most deeply with the complex questions raised by impeachment. He is the co-author of “Impeachment: A Handbook,” which republishes the famous commentary on impeachment by Yale law scholar Charles L. Black Jr. and concludes with Bobbitt’s own discourse on the topic. I spoke to Bobbitt at length about the latest revelations. The upshot: Bobbitt now believes it’s “plausible” that Trump committed impeachable offenses and that the House of Representatives is obligated to proceed from this premise."
