Do you have that thing where you're watching a TV show or movie and see an actor(s), and you get completely DISTRACTED because you feel that you MUST remember what other TV shows or movies you've seen them in RIGHT NOW? " DH and I have been laughing at ourselves lately, because we do it SO. OFTEN. In the past, I wouldn't google DURING the show/movie we're watching, but wait until after. And then once you either remember on your own or google, it makes you SO happy that you know. LOL....whyyy do we even CARE? I'm gonna start calling it "WPRA" ......weird previous role angst

I may as well have IMDB open during all tv viewings now. I typically use it several times while watching a movie.

I may as well have IMDB open during all tv viewings now. Same here and usually as soon as we get in the car after we go to a movie.

Oh YES I do.. IMDB is my friend.... I am watching the old show Gilmore Girls and there are so many people on there that are on my other shows and I have to stop and find out who they are at that moment or it will drive me up the wall. Then I go down the rabbit hole and the see what other shows they have been on and then.. it just goes from there.. Uggggg.
On Gilmore Girls, there was a red head student that I KNOW I watched her before.. I went through all her shows she had been on and I never watched any of them except one. It finally dawned on me who she was.. DUH...

YES! My husband I don't wait though! LOL I agree! Why is it THAT important to us? Perhaps it takes our mind off of other, more important matters?
Thanks for letting us know we are not the only ones that do this!

Yeah, it's not so bad when watching a tv show but at the movies, it drives me crazy. I always look it up when we get home and then say to DH remember that character who looked so familiar? Then I give him clues so he has to guess. I'm mean that way.

When watching at home, we pause, I look it up. We are both satisfied with the knowledge--then we finish watching.

Nope. As a kid my parents used to do this all the time and then get into arguments about it and it annoyed me no end.
I figure they are actors...so I've seen them before, I don't particularly care what in...because it doesn't matter.

Our DVR remote through Cox has on info button that lets us see cast and will show some of their past roles if it’s not there I head to Imbd as well. I don’t know if the button works on live TV. We only watch recorded shows.

My DH does this and it annoys the shit out of me. He will pause the TV break out his phone, research the actor then explain his findings to me

The IMDB app is on the homepage of my phone for just this reason. 😂. It is my all time favorite app because I do this ALL the time. I will sit and try and place the actor first, but if it gets to the 10 minute mark and I still haven’t been able to place them then I’ll IMDB them.
ETA: I don’t pause shows or movies to look actors up. That would bug the crap out of me. I also don’t do it at the movie theater because I don’t want to ruin someone’s movie watching experience because of my IMDB addiction. 😉

When watching at home, we pause, I look it up. We are both satisfied with the knowledge--then we finish watching. Exactly! Although I am usually by myself. I like when you pause something, little pics of the actors on screen pop up with their name so it makes looking them up easier.

All the time! Usually, it's the voice that gives them away.
DH and I watch some show a while back and it was Cheryl Ladd. I would NEVER have recognized her by her face.

Yes! Before the internet days, I remember even calling friends when a show would be on and say "Turn it to Channel 2, see that guy right there...what has he been on? Where do I know him from? I would ask my mom sometimes and her reply was always the same "Oh...he's been on lots of things" - but I wanted specifics! Now IMDB is my go-to

All. The. Time.
And then we start referring to the actors by their previous characters.
Like the show with Dougie Houser and Willow from Buffy who marries the guy from Freaks and Geeks.
And the show where the woman from Mad Men is laundering money and married to Shaggy.
We also refer to various landmarks by their long-past prior names. Yeah. We are definitely old codgers.

I'm always Googling through movies (well, movies at home, not in a theater!) Most of the time its because I think "I wonder what they are doing now?".

Yes!!
And multiple times for the same friggin guy!
We love the new FBI show. The lead actor looks SO familiar - and he's been in nothing we have watched before. And we've checked at least 3 times lol.

Oh yes. All the time I'm on IMDB and Wikipedia trying to find out how I know an actor or other things about them. Then you end up on a rabbit trail.
And in doing that it seems so many actors come from families with other people in the industry to some degree. I mean, more than you'd think have some sort of tie.

No. Seriously my grandma couldn't watch anything without sitting there going 'what's she been in'? what's he been in'? and it was the most annoying thing ever.
I really don't care what they've been in previously.

my rain man tick is that i'm much faster at remembering previous roles than DH is. sometimes split second fast. i spend a good amount of time telling him "nope. that's not him (or her). trust me, that's not him/her". when he realizes i'm right, he says "you're just not right in the head.". what can i say, rain man tick.

It will bug me if I recognize someone but can't place them.
Most recently it was an actor in the Australian series, Secret City. A quick search told me it was Danielle Cormack, AKA Bea Smith from Wentworth, and I was able to go back to the show.
