My paper is kept in 2 gallon zip lock bags, by kit or line. I keep the embellishments that match in the bag, too, like die cuts and stickers. It works for me because I seldom look for just a random piece of blue paper. I like to pull out one kit and scrapbbook a page with that, or a line (like Sparkle City) and scrapbook with that.
It makes scrapbooking pretty easy and it is easy to pack for crops when I only have to pull out bags.
I do have Iris cases for themes: Christmas, Fall, Boys, Other holidays, etc. I store the embellishments that fit the theme in with the paper. I started a case each for Page Evans stuff and Maggie Holmes stuff since most of their lines coordinate with each other.
The downside of this kind of storage is that the bags get bulky with the embellishments in them.

Cardstock is by color. Generic patterned papers are also by color. I also have the rest of my patterned papers organized by seasons, by some themes, and specialty papers are a category of their own (metallic, flocked, vellum). I have a separate section just for Graphic 45 papers.

OMG! So I started this paper sorting last night. So far I have found: 1) my paper I specifically bought for my DS science fair, all my dog paper, and ALL the wood grain paper. So much wood grain paper! lol...I gave it a lot of thought about how I scrapbook, and I do think I reach for color not pattern so much, so I gave up on sorting by flowers, stripes, etc.. and switched to color. I will keep it by the sorted cardstock, so I can look at it if I am going for a specific color. I also kept out an iris bin for just really random paper, multi colored and then have the seasons/holidays sorted as well. Whew! What a project, but I am so happy to be finding paper I thought just got lost in the shuffle.

What is this word "organize" you speak of? LOL I do my cardstock by color obviously, and I do my patterned paper by manufacturer. I love manufacturer styles and can usually mix and match them regardless of the theme.

Collections/kits together. I have various themes/moods: office/graph, wood, specialty, masculine, feminine. cardstock by color. I have separate iris boxes for Shimelle's collections, Christmas, Love, holiday (mix of the other holidays).
I tend to scrap by kits most.
^^^ me too

I think I'm going to try organizing my non-theme paper by pattern, and make some page kits (cardstock, one woodgrain, floral, plaid, polka dot and stripe per kit) and see what happens... If it doesn't work I'll try something else.

Card stock is by color all together..
Favorite manufacturers all together.. IF there is enough for a category.. My biggest is OA... then mainly older lines like Chatterbox.. which I hoard.. and so forth.
Then by color or design: Flowers Baby Teens Western Pets School Church Holidays (Christmas has it's own box.. I keep papers and embellishments all together for this one holiday) Etc.. Then papers that are generic enough goes by color, which where it can get iffy...
