Late yesterday DH saw an Indigo bunting on our niger feeder. Since neither of us had seen one before, he had to find it in our bird book. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigo_buntingThe one we are seeing is the dark blue, such as in the drawing on the wikipedia page. The bird came back this morning to feed. Yesterday when he arrived, the goldfinch tried to chase it off, since he was at "their" feeder.

I’ve been trying to lure those to my feeders for years. Unfortunately, they much prefer the woodlands surrounding us. I’m anxiously awaiting the orioles and hummingbirds.

This one ignored the sunflower seeds and went for the niger.
FWIW, our goldfinch reject niger that is last year's seeds. If we have some left when the birds leave, we store it in the vegetable tray for the next season. Even then, sometimes the older seeds are rejected. We always check the dates on the seeds when we purchase niger.

I've only seen one a couple times around here-I had to look it up in my bird book. They're beautiful little birds.

I’ve had them at my feeder at our cabin in Wisconsin. The males are that pretty blue only during the Spring and summer. The females are brown.
I’m only buying small bags of niger seed. It spoils so fast.

We have seen those in our yard a couple of times. I love to see the bright colored birds, they are easier to ID!

I have seen them at the beach in SC in the summer. Beautiful birds, and they have a beautiful song—very distinctive. I usually hear them before I see them.

I have an IB that feeds at my ( also in Wisconsin, way north ) feeder in summer. He’s gorgeous.
Unfortunately, I had to take down my feeders from now until end of May because of the black bears... I have even tried nyjer only and safflower and still had a huge male black bear sniffing around!
ETA: Fortunately soon after I get the feeders back up, an ever-expanding family of my very favorite songbirds—rose breasted grosbeaks— starts appearing, and I immediately forget about the horrendous 7-8-month winter I've just been through.

You might like ‘ostdrossel’. If you search on facebook or IG this person has set up a camera on their birdfeeder and posts wonderful shots of birds.

They are so beautiful. I am always excited when I see one. I have a few feeders at my house, but I always see more wildlife when I am out in our pastures and timber. I see lots of cardinals (their song is so pretty) and bluebirds everyday. I should be seeing some orioles soon, and I have a jelly feeder at my house. I have quite a family of pheasants in one of my pastures. The geese are honking mad all the time (I go too close to their nest). The eagles are always impressive, but I see so many vultures everyday, yuck!~
Migration now is bringing in some really interesting things. Pelicans were abundant last week on the ponds and some cranes too. I see a blue heron often - he/she doesn't like me either - also too close to his/her nest. Last year DH pointed out some Scarlet Tangers to me. I have never seen them before.

Wow, that's really exciting to see an Indigo Bunting. I've never seen one, but I have seen its cousin - a painted bunting - once and only once. It was near Cape Hatteras in NC in the scrub brush/bushes, and it was gorgeous!

I’ve never seen one. I feed hummingbirds here. I used to have two seed feeders, a niger sock and mixed seeds for the bigger birds, but they created so much mess underneath them from seed dropping. When it started getting into the pool when there was a good wind, I opted to just feed the hummingbirds for now. They were my mom’s favorites. She would sit in the recliner with her morning coffee and watch them come to the feeder as it got light out. I will probably always keep feeders because it reminds me of Mom.
