It’s extremely unlikely that are sick from the eggs. Salmonella is usually on the outside of eggs, so the cooking water certainly would have killed and washed away any potential bacteria. That isn't strictly true. If the poultry that laid the eggs is infected with salmonella the inside of the egg will carry the virus too.

I doubt it’s food poisoning. You likely came into contact with somebody’s poor hygiene. Those tummy bugs seem to spread like wildfire.

It's probably more likely that someone hadn't washed their hands at lunch or dinner than it being the eggs.

Well kid #2 just got sick over at his grandparents house. Guess that officially rules out the eggs. 😭😫😷

I don’t know. They came from Costco. No idea what their refrigeration policies are. I don’t generally refrigerate eggs 🤨 Are US eggs different? If the eggs are sold at room temp, you can keep them that way. If they are sold refrigerated (which they always are at the store) they must be kept refrigerated.

If anything caused food poisoning I'd go with Jimmy Johns.

The eggs are NOT refrigerated in supermarkets in Australia. I do put them in the fridge when I get home, but I know a lot of people don't. My dad and stepmum have chickens, and their eggs are sitting in an egg holder on the bench. So having them out on the counter for a few hours is absolutely not going to give you salmonella. Otherwise this whole country would be sick! ETA: I just googled, and found this article: Why Aussies and Brits buy their eggs off the shelf but Americans don't
And this one which is linked in the above article.

Here in the US if you buy eggs directly from a farmer, they do not have to be refrigerated>

My father in law was just here to collect our kids. He said that he had the same thing on Thursday. But that it was a 1 day bug. So here’s hoping it’s gone by tomorrow and none of our kiddos catch it. The Shipt lady also said there was a stomach bug going around town right now. The peas are always a voice of reason and a wealth of information. I had no idea there were differences in eggs between Europe and the US. Thanks guys! There is a lot of stuff going around right now. It ran through our house just within the last week. DH had it Friday-Saturday last weekend, DD had it Sunday-Monday and I got it Friday afternoon-Saturday even though I washed almost everything down with Clorox wipes or Lysol spray cleaner after DD came down with it. With all three of us it started with vomiting, progressed to the runs and then we were fine after a day or two. There wasn’t anything that all of us ate over that long of a timeframe that it could have been from anything we ate. Since you said you ate at Jimmy John’s, did you by chance have sprouts on your sandwiches? There have been times in the past when our JJ’s had noticed up warning people that choosing to put sprouts on your sandwich could expose you to salmonella. It wasn’t a big glaring sign, just a little placard posted by the ordering window. Just thought I’d throw that out there since it was something I remembered seeing.

Eggs are not refrigerated where I live, and they are fine. But norovirus is the absolute worst😫 I’d rather break a bone, I’m so sorry.

How strange. I shop at Coles mainly, sometimes Woolworths or IGA, and the eggs are always on the shelf. It's been that way for the 51 years of my existence.
