And you put your dishwasher on during dessert but it empties it’s wash cycle onto your kitchen floor instead of down the drain?!?
Do you think I’ll be in the market for a new dishwasher? My KA is 7 years old. I’m for sure in the market for some paper plates over the long weekend 😂😂. My dishwasher is full and I already washed one load by hand.
Ugh.

Ugh. Last thing you needed.
Honesty, if I was you I would download your dishwasher manual and search youtube for some videos on clearing the drainage pipe for your model.
I was visiting my parents and asked why the dishwasher had lots of foam at the end of the cycle. I did what I've suggested above and learned to clear the drain which didn't look blocked but turned out to have a couple of small pieces of glass acting like a plug.
Cleared it out, put it back together and it worked perfectly afterwards. It's worth a try.

Lovely. I hope some of those 25 people helped with the dishes!

"Remember the time we went to paigepea's house for dinner and and the dishwasher backed up all over the kitchen?" Here's to hostesses who throw memorable dinner parties! (Seriously, though... that sucks, but I'm sure you made the best of it.)

Oh no! But there is a silver lining- at least you saw it happen and it didn't slowly leak under your house for months. And do over $7500 worth of damage!

ohhh that stinks! But I wouldn't assume a new dishwasher would keep this from happening. Its probably something to do with the plumbing.

Have you cleaned the trap/filter thing in the bottom lately? This happened to my friends, sans dinner party, and the filter was plugged.

My dd had put an olive pit in the dishwasher and it was causing too much noise (we didn’t know what it was) so had to call a repair man. He fixed it all up and checked everything.

To be honest, it was our Passover Seder and the water was pouring out so much, almost like someone had turned the tap on into our kitchen. It kind of felt like we were crossing the Red Sea in exodus.

We had something similar happen a few months ago, different brand dishwasher though, & not as forceful of a leak as you describe. Multiple repair people called with no luck, because of the brand. One called back and told us to put in 6 bottles of dishwasher cleaner and run the dishwasher empty. That did work in our situation. We now run 1 bottle of the cleaner through once a month. What was recommended to us: Glisten Dishwasher Magic, which we ordered from Amazon.

That’s sounds like maybe the gasket is leaking? What a bummer, esp when you have so many more dishes than a normal day.

I stuffed up my kitchen sink drain once with matzo crumb ‘concrete’ that’s when I went back to a drain strainer that I used to use when we had a septic system. Easy enough to dump in the garbage. That matzo can be tough I hope you find a solution to your problem

We had the hose that connects from the DW to the disposal break loose, so all the water ran out of the cabinet all over the floor.
What a nightmare thing to happen with a house full of guests.

At least you have a good sense of humor about it. I have the Glisten but have yet to use it. 2 years with a new dishwasher. If you want a recommendation for a dishwasher, we have a Miele. They are expensive but they last forever. And little to no issues. We had one in California for 14 years and it was still going strong when we moved. It only required one maintenance check the whole time. And it was to clean out the little holes in the spinners to clean the dishes.
