My grandma kept money hidden under the toilet seat cover. How in the world does anyone know all the hidden money has been found? If so, I can’t imagine what they would be looking for. You know that was one of the first things they ripped off the toilet!

My grandparent hid money and documents in envelopes taped to the underside of counter tops, dresser tops and other furniture with drawers. You could pull out a drawer, clean it and not see a thing. To see it you had to remove the drawers and either feel or take a flashlight and look UP to see what was hidden. They also taped things to the underside of other furniture. Remove the drawers, look on the bottom of the drawers and look up at any boards between drawers that were meant to prevent items from slipping into lower drawers.

I’m confused - are you watching 2 women tear a house apart but you don’t know what they are looking for? They were “cleaning” and “clearing” out. You know, being helpful. They knew there was hidden money. They were looking for that. But the money was found. And they were still looking for something. One woman is desperate to get back into the house. “ to finish clearing out stuff” Honestly , I only knew the was some hidden money and a safe. The desperate woman knew there was a safe and she got even more desperate when the safe was found. She gone really anxious to get that safe open. Nobody was surprised at what was in the safe, but the 2 started digging again. My theory: Bil opened the safe , he grab a small box or 2 from it. He was in such a hurry to get whatever out of the safe that he didn’t realize that he locked the combo ( yeah, we could that ) in the safe. He sealed the hiding place for the safe back up. He hid the small boxes( or what ever container). Since there was money/coins in the safe, what was in the boxes is not money, nor coins, I believe that there is jewelry or gems. I believe he had shown the contents of those boxes to the 2 women. To answer another question: No, we can’t ask because they will only lie to us, they have already stolen money, but we can’t prove that.

I am quoting you again to add: This was one of the heart wretching, soul hurting, despicable things I have ever witness. It was like they were raping bil. All I could was sit in a chair and sob. I couldn’t stop them. My husband was off trying to get all the paperwork done and that got held up. They even stole the stamps and then started shitting about getting thank you notes sent out...... guess who is doing the thank you notes.

Is the house secure now? do you have access? Look for secret drawers under the kick plates.

Hidden panel in the floor, maybe under a rug or furniture? ETA: When one of my brothers was a teen, he helped this little old lady who was a friend of our mom’s with some handyman type projects. When he was done, he discovered what he thought was a loose floorboard and asked her if she wanted it fixed. Her eyes brightened up and she said no, that was where she hid her silver service! Did he want to see it? He humored her since he and one sister were into making spoon rings at the time. She ended up giving him the silverware set because she had no one left in her family to pass it along to.

When: 2009/2010 Where: The home of my deceased in-laws The searchers: 2 of the 3 brothers inheriting the estate What they were looking for: Diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds, all loose stones Alleged hiding location: wrapped in tissue (ie Kleenex) rumored to have been placed in the bottom of vases, or other decorative items. Status of the lost/missing items: Never found Probable location: In the possession of the brother that declined to aid in the search. Who was also the first person in the house after the last parent died. Also suspiciously missing: other valuable/heirloom jewelry including cameos, a diamond solitaire necklace, diamond earrings and my MIL’s diamond wedding ring. Same brother said that the parents live-in care takers stole those items. (Insert my giant eye roll here. Yeah, that’s right, that’s what happened. I totally believe that. NOT ) Megmc, I’m so sorry for your loss and I understand your pain.

Ugh, what an awful situation to deal with and a mystery for sure. Hope you find what it is and where it is hidden. Hopefully you can keep the two women out until then.

My cousin’s MIL hid jewelry in her coat pockets then forgot about it. They put in a claim to their insurance company thinking that the jewelry had been lost or stolen.
A few years later they found the missing jewelry and then went back to the insurance company & paid back what they had received. She said that the insurance company was mystified & didn’t know how to handle the repayment.

OMG. I feel sick for you and your DH. I agree with christine58. I would say this to them: When you searched the house and took money and personal items, I felt like BIL was dying all over again. I hope that the person you are showing me isn't really who you are inside, but it appears it is. Shame on you. Please contact the lawyer from this point forward.

check the freezer's food containers for "cold hard cash".
Not kidding. I witnessed it and then after heard it is a popular hiding spot.
ETA upon going back and reading more after the vague post, I am so sorry, greed is an awful thing to see especially coming from "loved ones".

Estate garage sale down the street. They sold the contents of a hoarder’s garage as one lump sale. I believe the purchaser paid about $300 for the entire garage. There were about 10 boxes of the same new shoe, same size. Inside each shoe was about $5 grand in cash.

But I imagine no, if there was, the heirs should have combed through it before putting it up for sale.

A similar thing happened to me a few years ago. People - close relatives!!!! - do dispicable things.
You think it may be gems that are hidden. What things of little value could feel like a bag of gems when picked up? Frozen peas/corn, cat litter, coffee granules, candy, those glass beads in vases. Or, as someone else said, in a container in the freezer looking like normal food, frozen in ice in the freezer? On TOP of rafters, in a hollow handle of an item.

Here is a list of where my mother hid her money: In boxes if old holey T-shirt’s In her bible At the bottom of a bag of yarn As book marks in craft pattern books In the pantry ( my dad used the freezer ) In the spare toilet paper roll covered with a doll
Here’s a list of where my mother hid important papers Behind the washing machine In my father’s tool shop In the attic In her purse In her craft bag In her car
Jewelry wasn’t hidden - no one had gold

My daddy built our family home when I was a kid. There are a few hidden places built into the house, one that I think only my mom and I know about now. I have one in my house that only I know is there. Crazy thing is, they're all in plain sight but so well placed no one will ever see them.
