My daughter is getting her first apartment at college in a few months. I’ve heard good things about a bed frame and mattress you can purchase online that is delivered in a big box. The problem is I’m not sure what the name of the company is. Has anyone purchased a bed and mattress like this? If so where did you buy it?

We bought a rolled mattress and bed frame from IKEA that was very nice and so much cheaper than most of the other well known places.

Ds got a mattress/box spring set from Sam’s a few years ago, shipped. The box spring was folded in a large nearly flat box and the mattress was rolled up tightly in another box. It was pretty inexpensive but got good reviews and he seems happy with it (he’s now 17 and teens can sleep pretty much anywhere anytime so he’s not real particular about mattress quality).

I ordered one from overstock last month and it is so comfortable! I'll find the link in the morning. So did I in November. I got one that has the gel and foam. With all the coupons and free shipping I think I only paid $400 something for a Queen. I had gotten money from my car accident last April after everything was settled and was impressed with the reviews!

My husband had a bed from Ikea in college. It lasted several moves, almost 20 yrs and was my DS's bed (got a new mattress for him) until we got him a lofted bed at 10. The bed was really easy to take apart and has wooden slats that rolled up, no box spring. The mattress we bought for DS is also from Ikea and came rolled up.

I think a lot of the online mattress companies ship vacuum-sealed in a box, where you have to let it “fluff up” after you open it (fascinating process compared to trying to strap a standard mattress/box spring to the roof of your car). Try purple, Casper, Saatva, I think even Sealy has one.

I've ordered a bed from Sam's 3 times for my college kids and once for a friend. They are great, and the kids still use them even after they have graduated and loved them.
It was the memory foam mattress and it comes with a really easy to assemble frame. Around $300 delivered - so easy, and they are comfortable. The last one I ordered was $290, for a 13.5" queen sized memory foam bed. She loves it.
