PSA: Next time you're at Tuesday Morning buying scrapbooking stuff, check their candy section and see if they have these watermelon drop candies. They are sooooo good and the bag is only $1.09. What I like best about them is that they don't leave a bad aftertaste like a lot of hard candies.

I'll keep an eye out for them. I plan on being at TM tomorrow and probs tues too, as I can go on my lunch from work and they get their truck tomorrow. Drives me nuts how it takes them days to put out their new stuff tho. All three of my stores get their stuff out the day of the truck. One store puts it in a cart or two and leaves it out in the aisle. By the end of the day, half of it is purchased and only half needs to be put away.

The only thing I've bought recently is a pack of MME In Bloom diecuts. Not much is appealing lately and not much is new.

There was new craft stuff, but nothing that appealed to me. No puffy stickers, anyway.
I did find some silver and white note cards in a box. A little embellishing, and they could be gorgeous.

It happened again. Went to Tuesday Morning and there was a handwritten sign taped to the door that said, "Due to circumstances, we have closed early." There was an employee in the store that I could see, so I knocked and she came over. I asked her why they had closed and she said that the manager wanted to. I said, but why? And also I drove 40 min and did call first and you said you were open, no one said anything about closing. She literally shrugged and walked away. So weird! I called Corp this am and am waiting for a call back. We will see what happens.

You can't just decide to close the store early because you want to. The only reasons you could close the store would be a weather emergency or power outage that lasted a certain amount of time. Tuesday Morning could be different, but I highly doubt it. I wouldn't be surprised if that manager was in big trouble now that corporate knows. You'll have to let us know what corporate says!

It was 30 mins after they were supposed to open. No one was there! Some other people waiting said it happened the previous Saturday also. I finally just left and considered it a sign that I was not supposed to be spending.

There are multiple TM stores in my area. The one where I shop the most is well run, and the employees are courteous, helpful, get the new arrivals out on the shelves promptly, and have never closed during normal hours except for inventory, and they did have a sign on the door.
There is another that is in the opposite direction, but is an area where I do some of my shopping. It is the opposite. There is ONE employee who has been helpful, but most of them are not. They take forever to get the new products on the shelves (3 to 4 days).
Some stores are poorly organized and cluttered, but have nice employees. The newest store looks amazing, but they are the ones who take days to get products out.
I assume that it really depends on the manager. Employees probably follow the manager's lead.

I think Maggie Holmes is making a 2nd round. There are a few things (okay, honestly...a few of one thing) that I'd like to pick up, but beyond that, I'm really hoping that this doesn't send another frenzy to TM. The last time, it took about 2 months before the 'OMG, TM is so awesome' newbie crowd to fade away and get back to the regular group. I changed my routine specifically because of that swarm. I'll confirm later today.
Tomorrow is the last day of school for my kids and I'm really bad at staying on the school schedule in the summer (I'm nocturnal by nature, so without HAVING to wake up early, I quickly resort back to late nights and sleeping past noon) so I might not be able to get to my closest TM Mondays at opening again until August.

That is weird. I'll add that here there are other circumstances that could cause closing temporarily with no notice. I went to a Dollar Tree last summer and the store was boiling...I overheat easily (then you add in the stuffiness of no air circulation in a closed building with other humans and it's monumentally worse) and the 10 minutes I was in there about had me ready to pass out. Not having a working A/C would qualify as a reason to close in 118 degree temps to me...unless you're Dollar Tree, I guess. That probably isn't an issue in most parts of the country right now, though. Where I live, we're about 30-35 degrees below typical for this time of the year...I'd normally be boiling waiting for school to get out, but instead I had to wear a jacket this morning, lol.
Our TM's used to close for inventory and I've gone there to find a simple typed sign saying they were closed (had also gone other days before they were scheduled to be closed and the signs were posted to give a heads up) because they were doing inventory on that day. As far as I can tell, they don't close for inventory anymore, I just have to make sure that they're not due a truck the day they're doing inventory because they don't address the truck until they're finished and that's what I go for...the new stuff.

I am travelling from Alberta, Canada next week. Arriving in Anaheim on Sunday evening. I read all the amazing things everyone gets from TM and I want in!! ...lol... We will be having a shopping day on Wednesday. Do the stores usually stock the craft aisle on a certain day? Will there be anything left for me on the Wednesday? We will be going to two TM's in Anaheim.

The stores in my area closed for inventory, about 6 to 8 weeks ago. I had tried to go to a TM that was a 45 minute drive. The sign said they would reopen early afternoon. I was there at 1:15, but they wouldn't even come to the door. I'd hoped to find out how much longer before they reopened. I finally gave up.
Plumbing problems, air conditioning, or some other issue such as the computers down/registers not working could cause a store to close, but it would be nice for customers to know the reason.

In my area of Texas, the truck deliveries are Wednesday. The best store has the craft stuff on the shelves by the next morning, but another not till Saturday or Sunday, even though they get the trucks the same day. If the deliveries are on Monday, then hopefully you will still find good stuff on Wednesday.

My TM today had some of the Kelly Purkey/Hero Arts clear stamps and dies. I didn't get any because the sets they had didn't interest me, but I thought I'd mention it.

UPDATE
Had a conversation with the District Manager today. He manages 17 stores.
He said that he would be honest, he is not sure why but they have a very hard time keeping people and managers at that store. I am not sure why either, it is in a nice location, and it is a very nice store. I am not sure what local management was like, so maybe that was it. Anyway, he said that it has been a people issue. People keep not showing up, they cannot run the store with one employee, on Good Friday they had 1 employee show up and the manager ended up walking off the job.
On Monday when I went, he said that there were two employees that showed up and they had been at work since 6:30 am stocking and unloading. The could only stay until 6pm, as they had evening commitments. The other two employees that were supposed to be there for the afternoon were no shows. Good God! I would probably close the store too, after 11.5 hrs. That is not ok.
He said there is no way to update voicemail and that there is really no way to update customers before they arrive that the store is closed-I don't really buy that, I think a FB post would work, but the point is that they do not want to give the impression the store cannot be counted on to be open. So it is better to make people mad than look like you have an unreliable store, I guess.
The new plan until they have a manager and better staff in place is to pull people from other stores. They have reached out to some employees of other TM in the area and (although they are still kinda far apart, closest one to this one is still 22 miles away) and found some that would be willing to be flexible and be pulled into this other store if needed. So he said they would not be closing the store anymore. I expressed to him that I hoped that was true because to drive 40 min to find a store closed is a big problem.
Anyway, nice enough guy, very apologetic, we will see.

Side comment re: staffing
I wonder what they pay? I know every store seems to have a "Now Hiring" sign. I get tired of the complaining by corporations that they can't hire people. Pay more. That's what we have to do at my company. It's insane what we pay entry level engineers.

Side comment re: staffing I wonder what they pay? I know every store seems to have a "Now Hiring" sign. I get tired of the complaining by corporations that they can't hire people. Pay more. That's what we have to do at my company. It's insane what we pay entry level engineers. I'm sure that for part time workers, they pay minimum wage. It's what we did at my retail store (part of a corporate chain) where I was the assistant manager. Rarely, if someone had a lot of experience, we'd bring them in at 50 cents or $1 more than minimum wage, but it didn't happen often. (Not to say that I agree with the practice, but it was how the stores were run.) Not sure where you guys are located, but in California, minimum wage is now $12, so I can't imagine companies paying much more than that. When I worked part time retail in Utah in the mid 2000s, I was also started at minimum wage, which was then $6. Merit raises were few and far between. Instead, part timers got yearly raises, which usually were around 25 cents or so I think. These practices are part of why I never want to work for a large corporation again. I understand that staffing costs are expensive, but I also think that if you invest in your employees, you get better results. Costco is a prime example of this, as they pay much higher than minimum wage and bring on more people as full-timers, which means employees stay, do their best work and are loyal to the company. Also, the corporation I worked for calculated payroll by dollars, not hours, so we weren't given (for example, these are not actual numbers) 800 hours a week to run the store, we were given 10% of the weekly sales budget in payroll dollars to run the store. This incentivizes managers to keep employee wages down, because even though seasoned workers perform better, there's a limit to how much one person can do and every single week was a struggle to staff the store for customers AND get tasks like stocking and resets done. Managers get in trouble if they exceed payroll costs, to the point of being written up and eventually losing their job, so it's not just a matter of wanting to look good to the higher-ups, it's literal job protection. Additionally, at least in the company I worked for, if we were missing our sales goals for the week, we had to cut hours because we could only use 10% of how much we actually made for the week, so if we made $5,000 less that week than we were supposed to, we had to cut $500 in payroll dollars. $500/$12 per hour is 41.6 hours, which is five 8-hour shifts. That's a HUGE amount to cut. Also, if we DID end up going over one week, we were expected to pay it back the next week. Okay, sorry, that's a bit of a tangent, but this subject gets me worked up! I loved so many aspects of working retail, but it was ALWAYS stressful because we were basically performing miracles with limited supplies. I absolutely, completely get it when people complain about stores that have long lines (no one likes waiting in line), but I also know what it's like from the other end, where you need to empty out your small back room before you get another huge truck that you don't have the room to unload or the manpower to stock, but since you've had to cut hours, the managers are the ones running the registers and the store is getting trashed by customers faster than it can be cleaned up. My main point is, with some exceptions, retail is a super stressful job that doesn't pay nearly enough.
