I listen to podcasts when I travel these days. I find I just can't concentrate on reading during trips anymore and it's extremely annoying because I love to read.

I bring light reading but usually end up catching up on movies on flights instead.

- Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman: I really got into this one. Suspenseful and intriguing! Would definitely read more by this author.
Thanks so much for this rec. Just bought it for my trip next week! I listened to this while walking my dog and I thought it was really good! My dog got some very long walks because I wanted to keep listening

I love what they call "Nordic Noir" Scandinavian crime novels. Camilla Lackburg, Jo Nesbo, Henning Mankell, and Stieg Larsson are some of my favorite authors. If I was heading to Scandinavia, I'll load up my kindle with a bunch of them.

I load my Kindle up with everything on my to read list. I really like long books I can be completely absorbed by. I also throw in a few no brainers, in case I’m not in the mood to concentrate. I even download a few audible books. Then for good measure, I download a few movies from Netflix. I’m like a kid when traveling, are we there yet?

When I got to Poland I actually ended up cutting this huge novel in two (Rick Steve's suggestion for his travel books) and using masking tape to bind the edges Argh! I couldn't do it! I barely open a book so I don't bend the binding!! I recommend trashy romance novels.

Fluff. Chick Lit. Nothing that requires working brain cells. Did I mention Fluff? Same... except I never seem to find the time to actually read anything I take along.

I barely open a book so I don't bend the binding!! I recommend trashy romance novels. I know what you mean. Like I said I was cringing inside and had pain in my belly. But I did have the same book at home in hardback sitting on my shelf-I bought myself the whole series in hardback after I read the first book-Outlander. I can't read trashy romance novels-they don't hold my attention anymore. And I can't throw what is left of this inexpensive paperback book away-the two parts because throwing any book away is a sin in my book. Anyway, I plan to keep both parts and make some crafts out of them. I cherish books. I truly do.

You have received some great suggestions.
I forever have a long list at the library plus a huge stack of books I have bought but haven't yet read. I prefer physical books to Kindles, but I do have a few e-books as well.
I take a few from my own stash I've been wanting to read for a while and maybe one or two from the library. I like to have a choice.
I loved Something in the Water and think it would be a great vacation read.
