We have bought him a tie and tie bar from his university he will be attending, a nice watch, and at some point this summer a laptop but he will be expected to contribute towards that.

A laptop! It is a necessity for any college course these days.

I got a party.
I think we gave the kids money. We took son out for expensive pizza.

From DH and I DS got a trip to Japan. He's always wanted to go there because his dad was stationed there while we were engaged (exdh) and I've always talked so highly about it. Plus Japan is super cool. I took him on a 10 day tour of Japan and it was probably the best trip we've ever taken together.
He is the only grandchild on both sides so he also got a new laptop for college (from his dad) and other things he needed.

My parents gave me very nice diamond earrings. I still have them and wear them. Same here. One of my most prized possessions.

My DD's situation was a bit different. It had already cost me a ton of money(tuition was $65,000 for 9 months, and a minimum of 5 round trip airfares for her senior year). Prom was associated with graduation weekend as well and bless her, she went over budget on her senior prom dress (not much - about $35 and I agreed, she looked the best and it made her the happiest). She was going back for post-grad education so we had that $ to look forward to. That said, my DD and I were told that she would never graduate from high school, but, she went to this school and blew all predictions away. She totally succeeded! Graduation from high school was a big deal for her. My entire family flew across the country to watch her graduate. My younger brother danced the parent dance at the Senior Prom with her. My SIL did a special photo shoot of her around campus and her favorite spots around Cape Cod. I wanted to get her something special that she would always have and to remember not only the fact that she worked hard and accomplished a long time goal of hers. I took her to a Jewelry Store and she chose a Cape Cod Ball necklace. It was a great experience. Now, every time we go to Cape Cod, we go into that Jewelry store and purchase either another ball for her necklace or a bracelet. She wears her necklace all the time - 10 years later. Best $125 ever spent.

We are looking at getting dd a horse. She has been riding for 10 years and is currently working at the ranch to help out. So she will be learning a lot. I love this. Every single gift giving occasion in my life I had hopes that my parents would buy me a horse. Never happened, but I never gave up hope.

We gave DS the gift of a paid for college education. He will not need to take out any loans and we think that’s a pretty good gift. He will probably appreciate it more after he graduates and sees others starting to pay back loans.
We did buy him a laptop, but he needed it since he didn’t have one. I didn’t really consider it a graduation gift.

I'm taking my daughter to plays throughout the year. My husband took our son to music concerts when he graduated.

We got each of them a computer for graduation (their choice of desktop or laptop). They already all had trucks by then.

My third kid just graduated. She got an iPad Pro, a bottle of Gucci Bloom and various smaller things that I already forgot, so she probably didn’t need them. 😂

DS graduated on his 18th birthday.
We pre-bought both of his gifts- one was a weekend concert experience, and the other was a new phone. Unfortunately, his new phone was stolen at his weekend concert experience. (And I had to buy him a new, lesser phone.)
He knew that both were going to be his gifts.
Anyhow, we did give him $100 cash (that was a PTA end of year gift to me) and a shirt/sunglasses/underwear. He is getting a laptop as part of his college tuition. He has a vehicle, and won't need one for college.
He doesn't really want for anything.
Oh, and I'm taking him to Disney and Galaxy's Edge on Monday.

We've not reached that point yet with my kids. However, my parents gave me a good camera (my first SLR) and bag, etc. - which was a fun but fancy and yet still practical gift for me.

A $50 money lei, a small pizza and cake party for immediate family and his BFFs; at his favorite pizza joint, a trip to Disneyland @ the Disneyland Hotel, and we cover what his scholarships don't for school.
