Topic- The Color My Life App Disclaimer-I am not in any way affiliated with, or will receive any profit from this post Disclaimer-This app is for ios only at this time, "coming soon" to andriod. I was messing around on YouTube the other day and came across a video by Justine Hovey describing a new (super new) app, designed for paper crafters www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3N6nWZa1_gThere is a free 30 day trial, and then...a 14.99 dollar a year subscription fee. There really are not many free features...but if you discontinue your sub, you can keep it, you just will not be able to add new products. I have been using Evernote, but when I moved all my recipes out of Evernote and into Paprika3... I realized I really wasn't all that happy with Evernote, and really wasn't happy with the cost either. But as someone who has accidentally purchased the same set of stamps more than once...I need something lol. I downloaded the app and love it. There were a couple of glitches in the first few days w/ syncing btw my ipad/iphone...but they have fixed the issue so now I feel better about recommending it. Their customer service was top notch during the "glitch". HTH

teacherlisa, she didn't go over it on the video, but can you add your own category or do you only get to choose from what's there? BTW, I just love Justine Hovey! I've been a subscriber for awhile but don't watch a lot of YouTube. She's informative, doesn't go off on wild tangents or repeat herself over and over and is a delight.

I use a free app called Sortly to inventory and organize all My craft supplies and it works perfectly. I tried Evernote and felt it was too clunky or something.

I started using Sortly for my nail polish collection and upgraded to the professional version. Using it for my scrap supplies was just the natural next step. I love it! Haven’t purchased duplicate roller stamps or Nuvo Drops since I started using it. That app is awesome!

Is there a specific category you are looking for? Another work around to that, would be, you can make sets of items. So you could make a set and call it whatever you want. There is a category for paint, but lets say there isn't...I could add "paint" under the set portion, and then when I want to see all my paints, it will bring them up. If there was something that was really important to me though, I would probably just let the developer know so they could add it. Is there a specific one you are looking for, that I can check for you?

I'm not thrilled with evernote either (I use the free version) but so far other apps haven't really been any better. And I can't even imagine moving my 1300+ notes out of evernote. I wish there was an app where I could just import my evernote data.
This app isn't available for android yet, as far as I know, and there's no computer app for it. I like being able to add some things on my pc or check them on my pc when I'm shopping online.

The andriod is coming...and they are "thinking about PC" and other people have asked about an evernote export...and they said they are working on that too. So who knows what might come later. I am hoping for the evernote export too lol.

Eh, I wouldn't pay for a subscription for what amounts to a sandboxed light database, but your needs and comfort with technology may vary. For those looking for alternatives, this looks like a prettified and trimmed down version of just about any GUI database application out there. Currently I'm using github.com/giowck/symphytum Symphytum. Very feature light but it does exactly enough to keep track of my dies, what I own and what I'm looking to buy. I've yet to accidentally purchase a duplicate!

Embri my needs and comforts must be very different from yours, because I honestly could not even understand what you are saying I also can't find that app lol. I am super glad you have found what works for you though... duplicates stink!

Just have to scroll down the page to Download? It's offered for Win, Mac and Linux. github.com/giowck/symphytum#downloadAnd yeah, I'm old school. I cut my teeth on ClarisWorks, and spent many a year with FlieMaker Pro, spreadsheets, Excel, etc. Know my way around a database app. If you don't want the fun/frustration of building your own stuff, then custom made software like this is helpful. Sandboxed = self contained, all in one, 'no touchy the file structure, mere human' light database = not relational, no database-ception of databases referring to other databases... that would be massive overkill for a simple inventory anyways. GUI = graphical user interface. aka 'point and click on stuff to make it work' rather than 'let me just sit down and write a few hundred commands...' feature light = not a ton of power under the hood. Does only the basics. isn't necessarily bad, just limited. If anything else is obtuse, just let me know! I've been known to drift into too much technical jargon on occasion. Sadly good database software is something of a dying breed unless you feel like putting out many hundreds of dollars for the industry giant FileMaker.

Ok...I am really light tech then lol cuz I just keep a google doc of all my stuff, easily updated, doesn't need to be saved like excel, I can search it and can access it from my phone.

If it works, that's all that matters. The most important feature of any system is that the end user uses it. The fanciest, most advanced storage or organization anything is utterly useless without end-user engagement. So if Notepad / Evernote / Google Doc / Excel or whatever works for your collection, go for it! Inventories need to be kept current which means they need to be as easy as possible for people to maintain.

I started using this about a week ago, and have all my stamps finished, and will start on paper soon. I love that you can cross-reference/search by color, too. This is going to make it easier for me to consider all options in specific colors, since I like to keep my papers physically organized by manufacturer/designer and not color. I'm really loving it.

I keep Pinterest boards for my dies and stamps, as they are the things I buy most of. Each board is divided into different sections - sentiments, Christmas, animals, etc - and I often find it useful to check it rather than wade through the actual stuff when I am looking for a particular word or image.

The price isn’t bad for an annual sub but Evernote works ok for me and I just can’t face having to redo everything!

Inspired by this post, I went looking for an app to inventory my supplies. I'm on Android so I can't get this one yet (I know it's coming soon but I'm impatient). I found a free one called Stock and Inventory that I really like so I filmed a quick overview. I'm up to 500 items entered and I'm still loving it. Came in handy at TM today! If you're interested, here's my review. youtu.be/14CEFb46MnM

I guess I didn't want to be limited to just scrapbooking supplies. I guess another system would be a better option for me. That's just me. Multitasker.
Thanks for sharing the app though. It's awesome that they made this.

You might want to check out some other inventory apps- Like I linked above I found Stock and Invenory for Android (I'm not sure it's available for iphone?) so maybe there are some other options that will let you include other crafts or supplies.

It sounds interesting but I use List Master, not feature heavy or special in any but it was cheap and it holds my stuff pretty painlessly. I just can’t imagine inputting all these craft supplies again. I did watch the Justine video and I liked it. The color thing seemed helpful.

I'd concur, a general inventory app sounds like what you want. As a bonus most of them are outright buys rather than subscriptions too. Sure you have to do a bit of up-front work setting up your categories and layout most of the time, but it also means you're free to change those things any time you desire.

Hmmm, will have to check out Sortly ... I use and love Evernote and definitely want to stick with something free but always good to check what's out there.
