July 10th Final Update
Hello everyone, I wanted to give a final update. My friend Lynn, went home on July 4th (only 2 nights in the hospital) and her son, Jack, came home yesterday. He has to take 8 medicines at night and 9 in the morning (for a while) and he has to go to the hospital twice a week for 8 weeks for check ups. Eventually he will be down to 3 medicines but has to take some of them 12 times a day!
They are both doing GREAT!! Still in some pain (expected) but otherwise just doing beautifully.
Thanks again!!
July 3rd Update
Thank you SO MUCH for all the prayers.
They both did so well. They removed her kidney at one hospital, took it under a tunnel across the street to the Children's Hospital and as soon as they got it done, his new kidney started working right away!
The mom, Lynn, was placed in a room last night and looked awful and was in a lot of pain but they were managing it. She may be allowed to check out tomorrow if all is well. She is looking much better this morning.
The son, Jack, is still in PICU and slept all day yesterday but this morning he actually was up and took a few steps. He is in pain (of course) but they are also managing it. He will be in PICU today and if all is well, will be moved to a room for 3-4 days. He will then need to go to the hospital twice a week for 6 weeks (which is tough since they live 1 1/2 hours away).
The surgeries couldn't have gone any smoother and everything just went perfect. Thank you so much for the prayers!!
**Original Post**
Hi all,
I believe in the praying power of the peas!
My friend's son was born with only 1 kidney and that kidney was not healthy.
He is now 13 and tomorrow he is receiving a kidney transplant and my friend (his mom) is the donor. He is a trouper and isn't nervous at all (is used to doctors and such).
Please pray that all goes well for them tomorrow, for both of them and that the transplant is successful. Their names are Jack & Lynn.
We have known for 13 years this was coming but still, you are never ready for it. Thank you!!
