I am the Imelda Marcos of frozen food.
I have a standard size fridge w/freezer on top in my kitchen.
I have a smaller (but not much) fridge w/freezer on top in my laundry room.
Next to that, I have a full size upright freezer.
All are pretty full. There are 3 1/2 of us (my husband travels a lot) living here. My kids are teens.
In my defense, the 2 in my laundry room were given to us. I would have definitely bought myself a second fridge/freezer had it not been a gift, but wouldn't have purchased the upright freezer.

We have 5 children and 2 refrigerators. One is in the garage. We are in the market for a chest freezer. There never seems to be enough freezer space. I am partial to the upright ones.

We are two adults and five kids, plus I through our contract provide our nanny with lunch and snacks. We have two freezers and use them. We only have one refrigerator. We could really use a second, and I have in fact shopped for a second, but what I want to do is replace our lame side-by-side fridge with a four-door, and it turns out that our fridge is basically built into our wall, and we are trying to move in a year, so I don't really want to do the work to replace it, but don't really want to get a second inexpensive fridge for the basement when what I really want to do is move this fridge and get one for the kitchen that is more functional for us. And we may not be able to move. Paralyzed by indecision! [/slight tangent]

One fridge/freezer upstairs in kitchen and one extra fridge/freezer unit in the garage. Two adults, two teens. It works for us. It's great to have a second unit for parties, holidays, plus cooking and freezing a bit.

My husband and I just went through this. It's only the two of us. For years, I had an extra refrigerator turned on in the garage. Just turned it off a couple days ago. We don't need it all the time. Our french door refrigerator holds so much, we can really fit in all our water bottles and everything.

We have a side-by side refrigerator that came with the house we bought. We also have a mini fridge in the garage for beer/drinks. We have plans to purchase a stand alone freezer in the near future too. Only DH and I live at our house.

One fridge, two people. Gave my upright to my brother for his cabin because I just didn't use it.

We are a family of four with 2 fridges. A beautiful French door style in the kitchen and the old side-by-side in the garage. I do have an upright freezer, but it died this summer and we have managed without it so far, so I doubt it will be replaced. We weren't using the freezer in the side-by-side until the upright died, but I couldn't give up the second fridge. It holds the extra milk, eggs, butter, juice, beer, wine, vegetables & cheese.
Sharing with a family is way different than sharing with other adults. If you aren't sharing groceries, you are both buying juice, milk, yogurt, pickles, fruit, vegetables, cheese, hummus, etc. The one extra person might not go through the food as fast, but they could need more than 1/5th of the fridge space to be fair.

There are 6 of us. We have one (small) refrigerator with a top freezer, and one small chest freezer. We definitely need more room in both. We don't have space for a second fridge or larger freezer, though.

I had a chest freezer and a French door frig. The chest was to deep for me , so that got unplugged and I will clean it good and leave it for the people who buy the house. And the French door died. So, it took forever to find the new frig and it is a side by side with no freezer room. Hence the search for a new freezer. There are four of us but I stock up on burger when the store I like has it on sale and I like to have two or three turkeys in there too.

We have a side by side and I hate it. I don't think there is enough room. But I live in the country and shop for at least a week at a time.
We have a stand alone freezer. We buy sides of beef and there is no way that would fit in a tiny freezer. Hell would totinos pizza even fit in a side by side freezer

we have 3 people, one french door with freezer on bottom in the house, a full stand up freezer in the garage (we buy meet in bulk) and we have a smaller size fridge with a top freezer in another room. We keep pop and extra fridge items there. I don't think the power bill is much more, it is very reasonable anyways.

Two adults, one kid. Two refrigerators, a big chest freezer and a big upright freezer too. Both of the freezers are about half to 3/4 full right now but at times they are both packed full. We get our beef from my sister's in-laws, half a cow at a time. It's so much better than the grocery store stuff because it's grass fed and we tell the butcher how we want it cut (lean) and packed (small packages). When pigs aren't so hard to come by, we sometimes get a pig and have all that in there as well. Then there are the ginormous bags of stuff from Costco. We cook at home just about every day so even though there are only three of us we go through it.
ETA: The second fridge and both big freezers are in our heated garage. The garage fridge is mostly used as a beverage cooler for when we have a party or guests over. We have two refrigerators at our lake place too.

3 of us in the house (2 adults, teen daughter) - we have a large fridge freezer in the kitchen, a medium sized fridge freezer on the Latino mainly for drinks and an upright half sized freezer. It never seems big enough to me. I cook in large batches so we always have meals in the freezer so I couldn't see us only coping with one unit.

Two people
One French door ref. with freezer at the bottom. One small ref with freezer at top One upright freezer
We had a chest freezer but replaced it with the upright because of floor space.
We purchase meat on sale as well as freeze fruits for future use. When I was single I had a small chest freezer. I like to take advantage of meat sales.

We only have the side by side freezer. There's only two of us, but we're big bbq'ers, and I've been bugging DH forever about getting a freezer so we can stock up on sales.

We have 4 people. We have one fridge/freezer in the kitchen. One fridge/freezer in the laundry room and a stand alone freezer in the laundry room. Really the only reason we have the fridge in the basement is to hold milk because our huge new one in the kitchen, does NOT hold gallons except on the door and we buy 4 gallons a week. We have more space than we need but I am fine with it. I like having all the extra space if we need it.

Growing up in a family of 4, we always had two fridges. The second one was out in the garage and held all of the beer, pop, and extra drinks. The freezer usually only held some ice packs for my Dad to use in his lunches. PLUS a chest freezer that is at least 20 years old now. I fear that when it comes time to really clean it out, I'm going to find a relic from my teenage days at the bottom. Now my parents are empty nesters and they still have two fridges and that stupid chest freezer AND Dad has a little dorm fridge in his shop so he doesn't have to walk back into the house to get more Pepsi or beer. They're all full. It drives me batty because DH and I can get by with just one fridge with two teenage boys. I just don't buy as much all at once.

We have a french door fridge/freezer in the kitchen, a top fridge/bottom freezer in the basement, a mini fridge in the barn, and a chest deep freeze in the mudroom. We often feel cramped for freezer space but tend to buy a lot from Sam's/Costco. We rarely (only at holidays) feel cramped for fridge space. Our household is me, DH, and DD(7).

We have 3 in our family. Our kitchen fridge is side/side. We have a fridge and a separate freezer in the garage. Our basement has a wet bar and there is a shorter fridge/freezer combo down there. We use all of them. When we have company all get packed full!

We are a family of 2. We have a regular fridge in the kitchen, one in the basement for our "beverages", and a chest freezer in the basement. My DH is a hunter so the freezers are full of venison and elk, and we buy a quarter of beef every year too. My in-laws are huge gardeners so if they run out of room they bring stuff over for us to store too.
