I know I couldn't. I've been thinking perhaps I should do something about that.

Not very far... I do carry a knife, though. Maybe I could run long enough to get it open?
zombies? Naw, they'd totally get me.

Yes, but slowly. The zombies would surely catch me.

hell no. my best shot is to go rag doll and let them struggle trying to drag/lift me anywhere.
if I can't outrun the common criminal, I'm pretty sure I can't outrun ISIS or terrorists too.

Adrenaline is an interesting thing. If you truly had to run for your life your body would find a way to do it.

I can run way further and faster now than I could 3 months ago, but I still wouldn't get far! I'm hoping to continue to work on that this year!

Adrenaline would be my only shot. Under normal circumstances, I would get outrun by a snail.

I was thinking more along the lines of ISIS, terrorists, etc. Wha? ?? As for the OP no I can't run, I never will be able to either, need a double hip replacement. Yeah, the zombies would get me too.

Yes. Particularly if we are talking about slow-moving Walking Dead zombies . But, seriously, I am in good cardio shape and can run. I cannot necessarily outrun a fit, speedy attacker, though.

Possible - as others have mentioned - thanks to adrenaline. But when I got wherever I was going, death would probably have been preferable to the months of recovery that followed.

I'm actually a pretty decent runner. I sincerely hope I never have to put it to test though,

I run regularly but when I play flag football I noticed that the men run so much faster than me in such a short sprint, and actually in my run group as well the men are always in the front. So while I can run 5 miles, running away from an assailant at top speed is something different.

What she said:) In the way that women have been known to lift cars off their kids to save them I would hope that I might have a quick burst of unexpected speed but realistically, no, I am not set up well for that.

I have. Ran in a zigzag pattern in high heels back to the bar.
That was a long time ago, but I think I can still outrun a zombie...don't they just lumber along in your general direction?

Hahahahaha, there is no way in he** that I could run. I'm relying on the instinct to curl up and play dead to save me.

Uh, no. I've actually been thinking about this recently because DS practices at a park each week and I want to start walking on the trails, but it kind of creeps me out to walk by myself, as they are fairly secluded. I've thought though, who really would attack me? I am a middle aged mom, with a few pounds to lose. They would definitely go for the younger cute things. I don't know that I have anything to worry about.

Well...I took one of those Facebook quizzes about "how long would you survive in a zombie apocalypse?" and I got something like "ten minutes" for my result. So running would do me no good at all, since clearly I'm stupid when it comes to surviving. Also, on the subject of zombies, they move pretty slowly in most movies, but wasn't there one where they were REALLY fast....? Was it "Z Nation"? Can't remember now, but I know there was one like that. I'd die immediately.

Yep as long as whomever was chasing me was slower. I have crazy endurance when it comes to running...it's just not very fast

Yes I can, I've worked very hard over the last 18 months to be able to run. I beat those shambling zombies every time. And since I'm fat, I'd have the element of surprise on my side too.

Yes, I can run. I'm running 10 miles on Sunday. But I'm a 51 yo woman, so I doubt I could OUTrun many things. But I'm okay with that.

Nope. While I could probably outrun a zombie for a little while (yes, winogirl, they do move pretty slowly), my stamina would run out pretty quickly and I would become lunch. Armed terrorists? Can you say target practice?

Depends on how far, how long, and if I'm the only one running for my life or if there are others and I just need to beat out the slowest one, what kind of threat it is, if it's a tidal wave, aliens attacking, etc. Really a lot of factors in play with this question. I need more information.

On a serious note, running isn't going to help you with terrorism. I'm sure there were runners who died in the Twin Towers. And look at what happened at the Boston Marathon. A running race. Running isn't going to help with bomb or poison gas attacks, and ISIS terrorists aren't going to chase you down the streets.
I run for my life. But when I say that, I mean that I run for my cardiac, bone and mental health and to hopefully extend my life so that I am around for my family for years to come.

but I think I can still outrun a zombie...don't they just lumber along in your general direction? Now, see-- I can lumber! It comes quite naturally to me. How about "Hide for your life"? I could do that because my sedentary lifestyle equips me with a high tolerance for remaining motionless.
