I have been in the market for a new trimmer forEVER. I had a cutterpede for the last 10 years or more. It was great. But the hinge arm wasn't great and would sometimes cock my paper just a little but enough so I wouldn't get a straight line when butting a 12x12 against it. I've had a CM consultant for years - she's the best. Never minds when people use non-CM stuff at her crops. I always try to buy a little something now and then as appreciation that she still does crops. On iNSD she had a crop and I played w/the new CM trimmer. I really liked what I saw - rotary blade (which I prefer), super strong joint and felt well made. A little doo-dad that slides along the carriage to show you were the blade will cut if you keep the paper there. It's more than I like to spend on stuff (cuz I'm cheap), but it between really wanting a new one, wanting to support my CM consultant and feeling like CM STILL does great tools, I bought it. I got it last week and played w/it today. OMG - I LOVE IT!!!! If anyone's in the market - I would consider it. Here is a link. If you don't have a CM consultant they can help you find one.

I have heard great things about this trimmer- I don't like rotary trimmers, personally (I have a 12-inch Tonic guillotine cutter), but I do know they have had a hard time keeping this trimmer in stock.
and I LOVE CM's tools. I have their border punch system (the first border punch I've had that I don't mess up when I punch a 12-inch border!), a number of their other larger border punches, and I STILL have my very first set of shape punches, my circle-cutting system, and my very first corner rounder, from 25+ years ago.
(even though their patterned paper is lighter-weight and not cardstock, their paper designs and all their embellishments are really nice now, too.)

I am so glad to hear a) you have a trimmer you like, and b) that Creative Memories still makes quality tools!
I still have and use my CM trimmer that I purchased in 2006. I had to start using it sparingly when the replacement blades couldn't be found, but I stocked up when they came out with them again! I still have and use my circle and oval shape cutters too! And multi purpise tool, and corner rounder, and punches...CM has gotten a good bit of my $$!

I love that they’re still making good tools. I have their circle and oval cutters as well as their corner rounder. I watched the linked video and this trimmer really does look interesting. I checked their website and the price is $49.

That looks really cool, I live the thing that shows you were it is cutting, I am addicted to using my light on my cuterpillar , but it looks like this would work just as well.

Thanks for linking this, I always forget that CM is back in business. I was such a fan of their stuff, I still use their small guillotine cutter every week for my PL - it's from the year 2000. I kept most of my CM tools, too - circle and oval cutter, multi-purpose tool, etc. I'm excited to go check out their website again.

I am so glad you like your trimmer, because a good trimmer is hard to find.
For me personally, I have boycott them, due to some issues I have had with them in the past. Sad, since they do have good tools.

I will soon be in the market for a new trimmer because Stampin' Up stopped making their blades and no one can get them anywhere, unless I want to pay 4 times their cost on ebay.
I do not like rotary trimmers really, so wondering why you prefer it? Also concerned if I buy from a company like CM I will end up in the same place I am now - not being able to get parts. Anyone know how long a blade lasts?

Anyone know how long a blade lasts? This...pretty much word for word. I have used two trimmers with rotary blades in the past and didn't like them for my everyday cutting. So I too am curious why others like the rotary blades. I bought the SU! trimmer because I was tired of having to search for replacement blades for the Fiskers I had prior, but now I'm stuck rationing my remaining blades until I either find another trimmer I like or wait to see what SU! offers next...and then be in the same situation a few years from now...

Do you use a guillotine? I can’t use those, I can’t seem to hold the paper tight enough and always end up with a wave at the end. I also find it much harder to stop right where I want to stop. We have guillotine cutters at school and I usually just use a rotary trimmer in my classroom instead. I have never been able to get the hang of them.

Anyone know how long a blade lasts? I like rotary because I always used to "snag" the paper more when I used the pointy-type blade thing (probably just me being clumsy vs. any issue w/that type of blade). This CM one has an indicator to show where the blade is, so when I cut the center out of a cut-apart sheet, I can know exactly where to start and stop the cuts. I think of lot of trimmers have this now, but my cutterpede didn't so it was more of a guessing game. ps - I believe the video said the blade would last for 1500 cuts/blade.

Oh no! I could never use a guillotine unless it was the only thing available and I was desperate.

I use the Stampin' Up trimmer right now but I used to just use a fiskars. It has a blade that slides up and down the track but it is not a rotary blade. Like this:

i have owned multitudes of Fiskars Trimmers and even 3 of the MM Trimmer (which i loved, BTW). i know this, i hate blades that need replacing and guides that aren't solid enough a straight cut.
for the past few years, i've used the Fiskars Procision. it has a self sharpening blade and it's as sharp today as the day i got it. just about all the papers i use are cardstock so i need a good blade. i hated replacing the Fiskars blades and the furry edges they left when the blade was going dull. i still have my MM trimmers but they are the ones that didn't cut as straight as they should. otherwise, their self sharpening blades were great.

I just logged on to the CM site and they have the cutter in stock. Snapped one up before they could disappear again.

Trimmers are all so different and have pros and cons. I currently have and love several Fiskars and CARL professional trimmer. It can cut 15 pieces at a time. I hate replacing blades, but even more I hate replacing the cutting strips. I need a magical wand.

Just used my new CM trimer last night. I LOVE IT! It is the first trimmer where I don't have to guess where exactly the cut will be. I was at a friend's house packing up to go home when I knocked it over from her table to the floor. I hope it wasn't damaged.

I still have my CM siscors from almost 20 years ago.

I ordered one at a crop in April and received it a few weeks ago. It is AWESOME! Best trimmer I've ever owned.

I am so ticked about the SU blades that aren't available anymore. It is ridiculous. I won't ever buy one of their tools again. This CM trimmer is intriguing. I have the TH one but the small and larger but the little one is too small to cut lengthwise 81/2x11. The larger one doesn't have the 1/4 inch lines. So I am not really happy with them.

That is exactly how I feel about the SU trimmer situation. It really made me so irritated. I still have a few blades left, but they really allowed almost no time (essentially no time) to pick up extra blades. I tried the CM trimmer today and LOVED it. Highly recommend it. The cuts were perfect. It feels nice and sturdy and I love that there is a mark to show exactly where the cut will be.
