How long does the blade last? Right now I’ve got the Fiskers trimmer with the sliding blade and the blade life is so-so. Replacement blades are around $2.50. Since the CM blades are pricey it would be worth it if they lasted a long time.

Since the CM blades are pricey it would be worth it if they lasted a long time. In the video above, it says at the very end that each blade is good for 1500 cuts. I'm not sure how many cuts the Fiskars blade is good for. For the Sure-Cut one (I have this one), I don't think it is 1500 cuts but I couldn't swear to it.

I was just coming in to start a thread on paper trimmers but thought I'd jump in here instead. I have three at the moment, and while I like aspects of each of them, I also dislike aspects of each of them.
Fiskars 12" Surecut Deluxe - Love the wire cutting guide, rulers and it does mostly give a straight cut. Hate that the blade ALWAYS comes out and dulls so quickly. Also difficult for small / narrow cuts.
Fiskars 12" Portable Rotary - Love the clean cut and good rulers and a relatively long lasting blade. Dislike that not being able to see where I'm going to be cutting and often having to run the blade across a couple of times to cut all the way through. And also not good for small / narrow cuts.
Tim Holtz 8.5in Guillotine - LOVE the clean cuts, usually straight cuts and being able to cut very small slivers. Hate that I'm often guessing where the cut will be and getting it wrong, the ruler/guides are also rubbish.
So... my interest is definitely piqued by the CM trimmer. Its definitely on the pricey side though (AU$79). What do you think peas, with my likes and dislikes for my current trimmers, am I going to love the CM trimmer?

I think you would really like the CM trimmer. It by far has the easiest and most accurate “accurately show me where this is going to cut” system I have seen on any trimmer besides the Genesis. It gives very smooth cuts and very good sniblet (thin/small) cuts. i am a little worried about the cost of blades over time, but it is an excellent trimmer and I love being able to see exactly where it will cut.

I've already bought an extra blade. Will probably buy a few more from my CM person when she has crops. I don't want to be stucke w/o.

I'm pretty much in the same boat you are - I have the same trimmers as you do and have the same frustrations. The CM trimmer is $59 Canadian, which is so expensive in my opinion. I just found out that Stampin' Up! is coming out with a new trimmer soon, and it will be $25 US. Some of the demonstrators used it at a convention or on their incentive trip or something. They said it's a personal trimmer, and not a guillotine. For that price point it must be fairly basic, but I may just wait to see what it's like before I commit to a new trimmer.

Last week I was getting organized for my semi-annual crop in October so I used the trimmer more extensively. I love it even more than I already did! The sturdiness of it outshines any trimmer I've ever owned and I like the fact that the different blades snap in on the underside. ETA: It must be REALLY popular because I ordered it in April and received it in late July or early August.

I love my cm one and just bought two extra blades and the scorer for it to have just in case they stop making them. I also love the Tim holtz small guillotiine because I make cards. Between these two I can do everything. Love them both.

Thank you @zingermack for bumping this thread and the link to the video.
I missed this thread the first time around. I really need a cutter that 1)cuts straight 2)has a small foot print (to put on my work surface and 3)doesn't cost a fortune.
Her video shows how flexible it is. I love how easy it appears to be to cut out the inside of a matting paper. I would love this in cardmaking. Matting adds so much weight and bulk to a card, plus if I use a specialty paper, it can be costly.
I already placed my order based on RefuPeas reviews. It will be here tomorrow!
Now I want to learn more about the specialty blades. Does anyone have any of them?

I don't have any of the other blades, but I did buy extra cutting blades because I love it and I don't want to be in a lurch if they stop making them. But I think it's pretty popular, so hopefully, they'll keep making them for a long time.

I bought the trimmer a year ago, and still LOVE IT! I actually just bought a replacement blade, a mat strip, and the Wave blade. They should arrive tomorrow. Not sure how I know when the blade/mat has done 1500 cuts - will it start to fray paper like other trimmer blades when replacement is needed? I just felt I was getting close so ordered them to have on hand.

I have been on the fence with this trimmer, mainly because of the price. I use an old fiskars trimmer that is ok but not my favorite. I have a bunch of CM tools that I bought years ago & still use. I recently connected with a CM consultant & she is awesome! I caved & bought the border maker & a few cartridges & now need to play with it. I think this is at the top of my list next time she offers free shipping, she always has special offers for her customers. The videos are great & I am surprised at all you can do with this trimmer. Happy to hear it is well loved!

Could someone post the size of the platform? How wide can you cut before having to extend the arm, and when you do extend the arm is the gap hard to measure around?
Thanks!

I don't find it hard to measure anything with or without the arm extended. I am still in love with the trimmer! To answer another question, I have the deckle blade and plan on getting the scoring blade. I have an older CM trimmer with the scoring blade but this trimmer is far superior.

I was wondering about that scoring blade. Do you think it could replace having a scoreboard? I hate having to haul out my large scoreboard to score a greeting card. Plus I sometimes mess up the score on thicker card stock. I guess I should go search out some demo/how to videos!

JMHO because I'm not an expert at scoring. Unless it's my LSU football team.

I bought this trimmer in March & I have been really loving it as well. This thread prompted me to reach out to the CM consultant I bought it from & get some extra blades and extra mat strips - I'm going to pick them up tonight!! I'm also getting a scoring blade - excited to try it out! The one (small) thing that bothers me is if I am trying to cut a small strip from a narrow strip (like 1/2" wide) it doesn't want to stay put so my cut gets wonky. I tend to pull out my old Fiskar when my paper gets too narrow. Otherwise I really like it!

Close the arm thingy. Then cut. It works really well for me when I want to knock a bit off of a small bit.

I have so many trimmers. I find the one I rarely use (Carl) has the rotary blade. I do love the Carl, but it is a big cutter I use when making multiple kits. I love all of my CM tools. They are good quality.
