I thought I would make a thread for us to encourage each other to use stuff we'd like to use but don't use as much as we'd like.
So, I'll go....
"I just pulled out my Silhouette (which I don't use nearly often enough) to cut some graduation caps for a few graduation cards I need."
What things have you used lately that you've been meaning to use.
Come post to this thread whenever you want a little acknowledgement of what a great crafter you are!

What a great idea! I need to set up my ScanNCut and do some cutting soon. So there, I've written it down so now I need to make it happen.

Well, I did set up & use my silhouette last month. I also got out an eyelet or two and used them.
Now I don’t know what I don’t use, I’ll look later

I pulled out a CTMH stamp set this week and used some of them. Way too many of those envelopes of stamps still shiny and unused. Used my Minc on the same project and it hasn't been turned on for awhile. Will share a pic when I get organized.

I recently used the PixScan mat and it worked! I did have to do a lot of clean up like deleting and fixing nodes to get it to work, but it did! I'll give it another try soon.
I have a Sil Portrait. Hoping a Cameo will be discounted on Prime Day. LOL!

Hoping a Cameo will be discounted on Prime Day. LOL! Can you share why you're interested in the Cameo vs. keeping using the Portrait? Just curious how you see each tool. I don't mind sharing my thoughts. I have a 1st generation 12x12 Cricut Expressions that I use with SCAL. Everyone was WooHoo-ing over the Cameo and how much better it is than Cricut, and I really wanted to use the PixScan mat to save on die costs. And Cricut doesn't cut all that well. I can try to cut a page of 2" circles and they are not round. And that is using a cartridge or SCAL. And Cricut is very finicky on when and what it wants to cut. When pressing the cut button I always say "Please Cricut please, cut good for me." I told DH if the Cameo gets below $200 buy it, or if the Portrait gets below $100 buy it. This was when these machines were $300 and $150, respectively. (DH is really good about finding the best prices and I was in no hurry because Cricut still works). The Portrait was listed on Amazon for $80. So I got it. I thought I could try it out before I splurged for the Cameo. Anyway, long story short, I would really like one 12x12 machine that I can rely on. ETA: I just checked and I bought Portrait from an Amazon lightning deal for $79.99 in 2014. So as you can see I'm in no rush to upgrade to a Cameo.

About four weeks ago I recommitted to crafting. I have a whole room of stuff (plus a little spilling out) just sitting around not being used and I was having a lot of different kinds of remorse/guilt about it. I put together a crafting schedule/list - trying to inspire daily interaction with my stuff on SOME LEVEL. Anything. Even getting rid of duplicate tools to clear up some space would have been a welcome use of 15 minutes. Well - I labeled Thursday's "Tool Thursday". I seek out a tool I haven't used in a while and use it on Thursdays - or at least that's the idea. I'm not perfect at keeping to the schedule. So far I've used my Cricut, my cuttlebug, and my embossing supplies including heat gun. Coming up on the schedule I hope to use my watercolor pencils, my chalks, and my shimmer brushes.
If anyone is intersted, here's my basic schedule:
Mondays - Memorable Mondays (cards) Tuesdays - To Give Tuesdays (gifts for people) Wednesdays - 3D Wednesdays (altered items projects) ** This category isn't working out very well. I might be changing it. Thursdays - Tool Thursdays Fridays - Free for All Fridays (catch up/organizing/purging/make up day) Saturdays - Stitch in Time Saturdays (sewing project or cross stitching) Sundays - Sentimental Sundays (scrapbooking)

My DH surprised me with a new die cut machine (Big Shot Express) and I have already used it. Usually I get a new toy and it takes awhile for me to get around to using something but I really like this machine (so far!).

Wanted to come back and include a pic of the silhouette cuts. Today is all organization - but that's fun too (plus bought a few things at LSS - don't tell anyone).

Oh! This is a good thread for me. I have the following:
1. Silhouette Cameo. I bought this at the Studio Calico Warehouse Sale for $100 and toted it home from Bowling Green. How long ago was that, three years? Total times used: ZERO.
2. Vagabond 2 electric die cutting machine. I bought this at a screaming deal price to replace my still serviceable but no longer really fabulous Cuttlebug, which I donated to a children's museum with a bunch of dies and cutting plates. Total times used: ZERO.
3. Full-size Minc Machine. I bought this from an online Studio Calico sale for an exceptionally good price. I have a mini-Minc, which I have used at least 300-400 times (did a major wedding invitation project with it), but the full size? Total times used: ZERO.
4. The stamp maker thing made by Silhouette. What is that called? I also bought one of those at an SC sale for a great price. I have some extra stamp blanks as well. Total times used? 2-3 BUT NOT BY ME. My neighbor borrowed it to make some stuff for our neighborhood historic preservation organization. Then she REPLACED all the consumables, bought her own, and gave it back. Dadgum these fabulous thoughtful neighbors. It is again pristine. Time times used (by me?): ZERO.
5. I ALSO got one of those diamond press machines, the little ones that you can use for small dies. Now, this is an unfortunate thing. I got it to use for small alpha dies that I also bought around the same time. But I lost the folder part of it, rendering it useless. It was sitting useless for at least a year, probably longer. I recently bought some more folders for it on HSN within the last six months or so. I almost never buy stuff from QVC or HSN. But I went out of my way to buy the replacement parts for it. Total times used: ZERO.
6. Fuse tool. Total times used: Please.
7. We R MK Tab punch board. See above.
As you can see, this is a good thread for me. And I feel better, having unburdened my terrible dirty secret.

Hello people! I know I'm a bit offtopic, but I found the forum and this topic on Google while I was trying to find more information about Silhouette Cameo and Curio. I noticed some people here are actually using the Cameo product. I will use the machine mostly for vinyl cutting so after reading this article I'm thinking I should go with the Cameo. However it seems the software has a steep learning curve? Is the Silhouette Cameo the right choice if I will use it most of the time for vinyl and paper cutting? Thanks, appreciate your time

I pulled out some really old Quikutz dies (Jingle) to use for the titles for my San Diego album. I like my titles to have the same font in a travel album. It's been nice not having to fuss with my Cameo and using an old tool.

There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this board, but they might not see your question since it is buried inside this thread. I am sure someone can point you in the right direction.

I managed to actually use my sewing machine. I'm feeling kinda proud. I've now used it a total of 3 times but it's out of the box and on my desk so hoping that will help me use it more often.

Thanks, appreciate your time I have had the Cricut since it came out that first weekend. I also had the Gypsy that went with the Cricut and knew that software well. Then I got the Cameo in 2011. I wanted it because the store had great images for less money than buying the cartridges from Cricut. I could also use things I found in the internet for free. I learned that software quickly. It was actually (for me) much easier even though I had been using the Gypsy for years. Both machines cut vinyl really well. Picking the correct transfer tape is more of a hassle than anything else for me. Watch some YouTube videos about picking the right vinyl, using the Silhouette, and transfer tape. You'll have it down in no time.

Seriously just get that thing out it will be your staple. I stamp off images and just use the what I call the Lil' Shot. So much easier then having a bigger machine on my desk. I just leave the Lil' Shot out .

I thought about using my Fuse. Does that count? hahaha. Isn't that the first step towards making a change? I just used my Scan N Cut machine! I've been putting off getting it out because of the need to clear space on my desk, needing/preferring to have stuff colored before I cut (and I don't really care much for coloring so I haven't finished what I started), and general hassle and noisiness, not to mention that once I get it out I want to cut ALL the things because I know once it goes away it will stay away for a while. (yes, ideally I'd like to have a dedicated space to use it but #smallhouseproblems) -I cut out some stamped houses that have fairly delicate outlines and for the most part they came out well. Just a couple of porch roof corners chopped off. -I cut a bubble around a die cut word to see how that would work. Not bad, might do more. -I stamped a few of my fav butterflies while I had it out, considered giving up stamping forever because I kept having problems, got over my dramatics and stamped a whole page of them and cut them all out. And now as I type this I realized I have some more colored-in things I had been meaning to try cutting. I'm glad I didn't pack the machine up yet.

I pulled out the ol' Silhouette again yesterday.
DNB has fallen in love w/Queen since watching 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.
I have had completely unused vinyl for years.
I pulled out a sheet, found a jpg outline of Freddie, cut it on the vinyl setting.
Boom. Done. Perfect.
Now they have Freddie on their phone.
Why don't I do that more often?!?!?!?!?

I pulled out my original Cameo last week and cut some snowflakes that I purchased from Paige Evans. OMG! I'm in love once again!!! This was the first time I used my Cameo with my iMac...that I bought last December! I think I'll be using it a whole bunch more now!
