I noticed that this month's SSS card making kit includes some kind of white and black flocking transfer sheets (?) so you can flock paper at home whenever the mood takes you. I guess someone is hoping flock is the new foil... The kit is panda themed, so I will concede that a black and white flocked panda die cut would be cute. But I've never felt that flocking was what my projects needed. Are you excited about flocking at home? Is this new or a recycled trend? Am I out of the loop on flocking's popularity? Do you like typing flock flocked flocking as much as I do? ;P ETA here's the product

I don't know if it's a NEW trend... I had, and got rid of, multiple jars of flocking, including a set from Doodlebug. But I also had foiling sheets 10 years ago, too. It all cycles. Not sure I'd bother with large images, but it was fun to make fuzzy noses on cute animals.

I get the kit and I'm excited to try it. One of my favorite pieces of paper was a flocked paper from SEI's Grandma's Attic line. I still have a few sheets, I think. I kind of wish it were a brown and tan sloth, rather than panda, but still looking forward to making it.

I went to look and noticed a pretty funny typo in the first sentence. "Add a velvety texture and vibrant color to any project with the mess of traditional flock powders! " WITH the mess? Should be without the mess I think, lol. Or the flocking paper doesn't do what they think it does. FLock flock flock. Super fun to type!

Not a fan myself. Never was, didn't like the "old" flocked papers. Prefer shiny noses Foil I like...although it's more work than I like...

Haven't looked at the kit. Used to use flocking on cards, especially if they had animals on them, and sometimes to add some texture to a page title. I have some Doodlebug bottles of flocking left. It has been awhile. I think they would work with filled-in stamps and the glue pad.

When I first saw this I almost bought a couple of sheets, but I showed restraint (don't ask me how or why) and decided that I didn't have a use for it. I'm glad now that I didn't break down and buy it because I don't think I would use it, but I have purchased ready-made flocked paper in the past to use with animal die cuts. It's cute but I don't see a need for it now.

*headtilt* So... it's a sheet of double sided adhesive? Seems kinda overpriced if that's all it is.
If nothing else, it's a good excuse to bust out an old favourite: "What the flock!"

i'm going to pass on that trend. i have used velvet paper in the past and i hate the fine fibers that get on everything. it's almost (almost) as bad as glitter.

Oh cool! I still have my Doodlebug flocking stuff. It is actually fun to flock letters and sometimes things for cards. It was quite a long time ago they sold the flocking sets...I still lived in the U.S. so it would have had to have been...at least 10 years ago, probably closer to 12 or 15!

I have all of my Doodlebug flocking powders and am still planning on using them, lol, so I'm glad this trend is back! I have the cutest stamp set full of little ducks that I plan to flock - maybe that time is coming soon

It looks like it's actually just sheets of flocked paper (or a carrier sheet for flocking) which you can use with glues to transfer the flocking onto your project without making a mess (if that makes sense). It's basically like the foil sheets but fuzzy instead of shiny. One method uses a laminator. Here's a video

Gotcha! That's not quite as bad as getting flocking all over the place then.

I remember flocking from back in the olden days of scrapping. I know I had a jar and I used it maybe once but I can’t remember on what. I think I used it as snow. It’s not something I want to try again.

Yeah, it’s just flocked paper. The transfer sheet is a double sided sticky sheet so you can die cut the panda and piece him back together as a sticker embellishment.
I remember the last time flocking powder was big in the last few years before Archivers folded. It was used to make flowers after stamping with artist impressions stamps.

I think this is really cute and I can see potential but I finally have enough awareness to know I would only do it once. ha!

I think I still have a Making Memories flocking Kit (with flocking sheets, not loose flocking) somewhere in my stash! I’ll have to find it.

I just found some MM flocking and foiling kits in a box the other day. The rub-on glue transfers have all dried out it seems but the flock and foil sheets are all still good. I have a heap of Doodlebug and Fancy Pants sheets that I never used, guess it is time to get them out now.
