”Trump rambles about the U.S. having “tremendous wealth” when asked about his skepticism of climate change”
Once again trump showed the world just how stupid he is.
When asked about climate change his answer was how he brought to life the massive wealth the United States has under the ground.

He’s my choice for VP.
Joe Kennedy III
”Hi everyone --
I hope you're all having a great summer and getting a little break before fall kicks in. I wanted to take a minute to check in -- and to make sure you're hearing directly from me about my plans for 2020.
Over the past few weeks I've begun to consider a run for the U.S. Senate. This isn't a decision I'm approaching lightly and -- to be completely candid -- I wasn't expecting to share my thoughts so soon. Family is my first consideration with any big decision like this. Lauren and I have two little kids under the age of four. We're incredibly lucky to have the support and resources that we do, but like every young family, we struggle daily to balance it all. So we have been taking the time to talk through what an endeavor like this would mean for us, and for Ellie and James, in particular.
But I'm happy to put this on the table for you now. I haven't reached a decision yet -- that's the truth. I'm thinking about what I have to offer Massachusetts voters, what is most important in this political moment, and what kind of party Democrats need to be building for the future.
I hear the folks who say I should wait my turn, but with due respect -- I'm not sure this is a moment for waiting. Our system has been letting down a lot of people for a long time, and we can't fix it if we don't challenge it. I've got some ideas on how to do that. And I don’t think our democratic process promises anyone a turn. What it does promise is the chance for anyone to earn it — if we think we have something to offer and are willing to put ourselves and our ideas out there.
I am humbled by the words and actions of so many people supporting my potential candidacy. It means the world. I plan to spend the next couple weeks talking to as many of you as I can, trying to figure out if this campaign is right for me and right for Massachusetts.
I'm grateful for your thoughts, encouragement and especially your patience as I weigh a big decision.
More soon.
Joe

I’m curious if Trump’s own children would be citizens under his new plan of eliminating birthright citizenship? At what point did his wives become citizens? It doesn’t matter. The children were born to an American citizen father. (And no matter how much Trump wills it, the Constitution cannot be overridden by an executive order.)

As a rule a Rachel Maddow doesn’t talk much about what trump says. But I guess after his performance this weekend she couldn’t help herself. It was entertaining. Her best comment was the only time trump was lucid was when he was talking about his property in Florida, the possible site for next year’s G7 meeting. She had a point.
From The Washington Post...
“Sixty-eight minutes in Biarritz: A glimpse into Trump’s unorthodox mind”
“BIARRITZ, France — For many minutes on Monday, President Trump stood on foreign soil at the close of the Group of Seven summit here and trashed his predecessor. He bragged about his personal properties from the presidential podium and suggested that he will hold next year’s G-7 gathering at his Doral golf course in Florida, which has “incredible” conference rooms and “magnificent” bungalows.
And he defended both Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, suggesting that the Russian strongman deserves an invite to future G-7 summits and that the North Korean dictator is an honorable man who will not let Trump down.
The U.S. president’s news conference here was presaged by an aide saying Trump would answer anything if the first two questions stayed on topic. Trump seemed more interested when the questions went off topic — and for 68 minutes in a seaside auditorium, he offered a lens into his unorthodox mind, a range of false or dubious statements and the myriad ways he has changed the presidency in 31 months.
He attacked former president Barack Obama’s intellect while defending Putin for annexing part of Crimea — a move that drove Russia’s expulsion from what was then called the G-8. To many world leaders, Putin’s move was illegal and had nothing to do with Obama. To Trump, it showed that his predecessor was a sucker and that criticizing him (along with former vice president “Sleepy Joe” Biden, in Trump’s words) was fair banter. He veered into a similar diatribe on Obama not enforcing a “red line” in Syria, though he was not queried on the topic.
“President Putin outsmarted President Obama,” Trump said, calling it “very embarrassing” for Obama. The realpolitik of the world, he said, meant Russia should be in the room at future summits. And he said he would like to invite Putin next year to his golf course, claiming without evidence that other leaders agreed with his predilection — even as they said otherwise.
Asked why he continued to falsely blame Obama for the annexation of Crimea, as he did almost a dozen times Monday, the president suggested that he knew the black journalist asking the question, Yamiche Alcindor of PBS News, had an ulterior motive. “I know you like President Obama,” he said, without saying how he knew that.
I’m not blaming him,” he said, before blaming him extensively because “a lot of bad things happened.”
Trump admitted no blunder in his escalating trade fight with China, even as his flummoxing moves have rattled the markets and his own aides.
In four days, Trump imposed new tariffs on China, called the country’s president an “enemy,” admitted “second thoughts” on the escalating trade war, reversed course hours later to say he only wished he had raised the tariffs higher, and then vowed a deal would be coming soon — because China wants one desperately, in the president’s telling. Doesn’t that make it harder, a reporter asked, to make a deal?
Sorry, it’s how I negotiate,” he said. “It’s been very successful over the years.”
His assertion that China is itching to strike a compromise has been contradicted by multiple reports and Chinese officials. When Fox News reporter John Roberts expressed skepticism, Trump forged ahead by saying the Chinese had been working behind the scenes.
Trump claimed to have gotten two phone calls on Sunday night from high-ranking Chinese officials seeking to negotiate a trade deal. “High-level calls,” he said. Chinese government officials said Monday that they were unaware of any such calls. When Trump asked Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to back him up, Mnuchin would only say there had been “communication,” avoiding the word “call.” The treasury secretary quickly interjected again Monday afternoon to add “communications.”
Trump suggested that within weeks he would be willing to meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. “Now, is that based on fact or based on gut? It’s based on gut,” he said. He added: “Maybe it works and maybe it doesn’t. I say it all the time about everything.”
Although he said French President Emmanuel Macron asked his permission to invite Iran’s foreign minister to the G-7, Macron said that he simply “informed” Trump in advance of his plan and that it was Macron’s idea alone.
At length, he boasted about his private properties. Trump refused to divest, unlike many of his predecessors, and has profited from an influx of Republican fundraisers and other political events. Questioned about the propriety of profiting from next year’s summit of world leaders, he batted down any concern.
“I don’t want to make money,” he said. “I don’t care about making money.”
His resort in Miami, he said, would make a terrific locale for the G-7 because of its bungalows, proximity to the airport, large ballrooms and substantial parking.
“Biggest ballrooms in Florida,” he said.
He offered an unproven claim, as he has done before, that the presidency has cost him $3 billion to $5 billion. He then moved on to praise his golf courses in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Seeming to change course, he moved into a soliloquy about the nomenclature of Europe.
“What’s England? What’s happening with England? They don’t use it too much anymore,” Trump says he told British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
He described both Iran and North Korea in terms of their real estate potential, saying the countries would want to deal with Trump because they sit on valuable, or gentrifying, properties.
“A location that’s a little rough neighborhood,” he said of Iran, in the middle of the war-torn Middle East. “But eventually it’s going to be a beautiful neighborhood.”
He showed no concern that the North Korean dictator had violated U.N. resolutions by firing missiles, instead saying that Kim would not personally disappoint Trump. In a long-winded answer, Trump nodded to his wife, Melania, and claimed she had gotten to know Kim Jong Un very well; the White House later acknowledged that Kim and the U.S. first lady have never met.
He also jousted with journalists. When a French reporter charged at the podium without being called on, he pointed to Jim Acosta of CNN and grinned. “She’s worse than you!” he said, before explaining that Melania Trump likes French wine.
When Hallie Jackson, an NBC reporter, stood up, Trump said, “Here we go,” before repeatedly telling her she would get only one question.
Even as he spent several days on Twitter decrying the “Fake and Disgusting News” for giving a “major case study of Fake News,” he seemed much more enthusiastic once Macron left the stage and he was able to hold forth alone.
“You can’t say I don’t give you access,” he said.

PBS reporter called dt a liar to his face!! Okay, she was kinda-sorta diplomatic about it, but still. After Donald Trump blathered some nonsense about never, ever doing things for political reasons (really?), and claimed that he ran for president in just one election (false) and won, and that he’s ahead of the 2020 field based on current polling (wrong again), he said that Obama kicked Russia out of the G7 because he was “embarrassed” that Putin had taken Crimea on Obama’s watch. “President Obama was not happy that this happened because it was embarrassing to him, and he wanted Russia to be out of what was called the G8. He was outsmarted by Putin, he was outsmarted. President Putin outsmarted President Obama.” Unfortunately for Trump, Yamiche Alcindor, White House correspondent for the PBS NewsHour, has a long-term memory, and she immediately called the pr*sident out on this oft-regurgitated statement. “Why do you [keep repeating] the misleading statement that Russia outsmarted President Obama when other countries have said that the reason why Russia was kicked out was very clearly because they annexed Crimea. Why keep repeating what some people would see as a clear lie?”“Some people” (i.e., all people with a rudimentary grasp of reality) do see it as a clear lie. And yet Trump keeps repeating it. Luckily, at least one member of the press is willing to challenge him over his rich fantasy life. (Hey, I would have preferred “you’re lying your ass off again, and you look like a half-eaten creamsicle a raccoon buried in a sandbox 20 minutes ago,” but this is a start.) More of this … please. ** www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/8/26/1881485/-PBS-reporter-calls-Trump-a-liar-to-his-face

President Trump has suggested multiple times to senior Homeland Security and national security officials that they explore using nuclear bombs to stop hurricanes from hitting the United States, according to sources who have heard the president's private remarks and been briefed on a National Security Council memorandum that recorded those comments. Behind the scenes: During one hurricane briefing at the White House, Trump said, "I got it. I got it. Why don't we nuke them?" according to one source who was there. "They start forming off the coast of Africa, as they're moving across the Atlantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it. Why can't we do that?" the source added, paraphrasing the president's remarks. ** Much more at link:

Interesting the rule goes into effect Monday but we cannot comment until it is posted, when? (CNN)The Justice Department is giving discretion to a top official to decide immigration cases as the administration tries to exert more influence over the nation's immigration courts. A new rule, which goes into effect Monday, gives more power to the director of the Executive Office for Immigration Review, the agency which oversees the immigration court system. It allows the Justice Department-appointed director -- currently, director James McHenry -- to issue a ruling if appeals aren't adjudicated within a specific time frame, thereby granting the director new decision-making authority. Except in limited circumstances, if appeals are not completed within 90 or 180 days, the director will be able to decide the appeal. The union representing immigration judges pushed back against the rule, saying the department's action ends transparency and assurance of independent decision making. "It's essentially creating an immigration court czar," said Ashley Tabaddor, president of the National Association of Immigration Judges, who argued that the regulation will collapse policy making and adjudication into a "single individual" and favors policy directives over the non-political legal analysis."It's the final nail in the coffin of any semblance of independent decision making," she told CNN ** Critics of the system, who say it should be more autonomous from the Justice Department, recommended rescinding the recently imposed quotas and metrics used to evaluate immigration judges and have said recent actions have made it more unfair to migrants. Earlier this year, the American Bar Association said, "The current system is irredeemably dysfunctional and on the brink of collapse." The Justice Department will accept public comments on the rule for 60 days after its publication in the Federal Register. ** www.cnn.com/2019/08/26/politics/justice-department-authority-immigration-courts/index.html

NBC News Fact Check from July.
”President Donald Trump falsely claimed in a pair of tweets Thursday that Congress had "foolishly" sent $92 billion of aid money to Puerto Rico, which “squandered away or wasted” much of it.
Congress has allocated $42.5 billion to disaster relief for Puerto Rico, according to federal data, but the island had received less than $14 billion through May. Trump signed another aid bill in June that will send an additional $1 billion to the island. The bulk of aid dollars is still in Washington, much of it waiting on processes that require officials to submit a series of plans outlining how they expect to use the money and await federal approval.
What's more, the aid Puerto Rico received is a fraction of what it needs — Hurricane Maria inflicted an estimated $90 billion in damage on the island.”
Why do I bring this up now??
Because of this from trump...
“Wow! Yet another big storm heading to Puerto Rico. Will it ever end? Congress approved 92 Billion Dollars for Puerto Rico last year, an all time record of its kind for “anywhere”
don the con makes it sound like PR actually received that much aid.

This is absolutely insane...
“U.S. to states: School lunch changes none of your business”
REUTERS/LUCAS JACKSON NEW YORK (Reuters) - As schools begin reopening their doors to children nationwide, the U.S. government has told a federal judge that states have no power to sue over new rules they say make school meals less healthy.
In a Monday night court filing, the government said New York, five other states and Washington, D.C., could not sue based on speculation that changes to the federally funded National School Lunch Program could cause health problems for children and require more spending on treatment.
The government also said the states lacked power to sue under a doctrine known as "parens patriae," Latin for "parent of the nation," because it allegedly would not protect children from harm.
This rule recognizes that a state has no legal interest in protecting its citizens from the federal government, and that only the United States, not the states, may represent its citizens and ensure their protection under federal law in federal matters," U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman in Manhattan said in a filing in the federal court there.
The office of New York Attorney General Letitia James, who led the state coalition, did not immediately respond on Tuesday to requests for comment.
New York, California, Illinois, Minnesota, New Mexico, Vermont and the District of Columbia sued Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue on April 3 over changes in the school lunch program, which feeds more than 30 million, mostly lower-income children.
The states accused Perdue of acting arbitrarily and capriciously by ignoring dietary guidelines and scientific research when he allowed fewer whole grains and more sodium in meals, easing rules championed by former first lady Michelle Obama.
Among the changes were halving the required amounts of whole grains to be served, giving schools more flexibility to serve foods with refined grains such as noodles and tortillas, and delaying or shelving targets for sodium intake.
Schools were also permitted to serve low-fat chocolate milk, rather than fat-free milk. Berman called the new rules only "minimum requirements," and said states remained free to enact stricter requirements.
He also said the states offered no proof that children at 4,100 schools exempted from earlier whole grain rules suffered adverse health consequences.
Excessive sodium intake has been linked to heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke. Relatively higher refined grain consumption has been linked to type 2 diabetes, heart disease and obesity.
The case is New York et al v. U.S. Department of Agriculture et al, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, No. 19-02956.

Trump could have just ignored this and raised some ridiculous distraction as he does 5x/day on a normal day.
Instead, he's ensuring people now link his property to the documented case of a settled suit over bedbugs.
