Apparently not...nor was his wife Clearly not paying attention, is he not divorced? Wasn't there some domestic incident just within the last couple weeks? I could have sworn I saw a headline about it but I didn't read the story and it didn't seem to get much press. ETA: I didn't imagine it: Police called to loud altercation

As a complete aside, I noticed Jeremy had his wife sitting beside him but I didn't see Boris's girlfriend? His father, sister and brother were sitting behind him. Was she there? Apparently not...nor was his wife Oh? What He has both, a wife and a girlfriend

It's almost as embarrassing as our presidential situation. Almost.
My husband says Boris' hair is worse than Drumpf's. I think it's a tie. And I think they are both just about the worst possible leaders for their respective countries. Now I feel ashamed to say I'm English OR American! (Don't take that too seriously, but it is embarrassing).

😂😂😂 Good luck, Britain. You all have my sympathy. Having a racist in charge who only looks out for his own interests has not gone well for the U.S. Stay strong. In all sincerity, Britain has a special place in my heart. I wish your country the best of luck.

Good luck, UK folks. We, too, elected a bloviating, lying, bigoted egomaniac. It uh, doesn't go well.
I'm sorry. I know Boris can be a bit of a buffoon at times but he is in no way shape or form comparable to Trump. He is a very clever ( as in he's got brains) person and does have political past experience so he's not an idiot attempting to run the country. He is very intelligent. I think his buffoon act is just an act. He knows that posh boys, that have attended expensive private schools are not generally liked by the public. Down playing his intelligence and acting daft makes his career politician taught through Eton status less obvious and in your face. He has worked hard over the years on his public persona. I have no idea how things are going to go, but although I am not pro Brexit, I hope how can get it sorted, I am sick to death of all the game playing going on in Parliament. I wonder if he will change his act now he is PM.

I have to say though, that I don't think Boris is anything like in the same league as Trump for the damage he'll do or how decisive he'll be. I don't think he's only looking out for his own interests.

To be fair, I can just hear all the American Peas reading this and thinking - yes, we thought we had checks and balances that would keep Trump in check and look what happened! But in reality, Boris is not comparable to Trump, I'm certain of that...regardless of what Trump said yesterday about us liking him (wherever did he get that idea??) and calling Boris 'Britain Trump' or whatever he said

Boris Trump??
Whatever happens over the coming weeks and months it’s not likely to be boring! I hope he shakes off his persona and comes out with some fire in his belly.
I’m looking forward to seeing who’s in his Cabinet.

There is talk of Pirti Patel being made Home Secretary. Remember she was recalled from a trip to Uganda(?) after lying to TM about Boris knowing about her many many meetings with high level members of the Israeli government while being on holiday. I don't trust her.

Trump will only like him until the time comes when Boris will tell him quite plainly " you idiot you can't do that" Knowing Boris, that won't be too long

I’m looking forward to seeing who’s in his Cabinet. Me too gillyp . and me! I think he'll keep Jeremy Hunt at the foreign office though. They're the best of friends apparently and I have to admit it was nice to see how genuine the congratulations hand shake was yesterday from Jeremy Hunt and the acknowledgement from Boris that JH had some good ideas that he would be taking on board.

Yes, not surprised. She did a bad job of pretending when directly asked yesterday.
Wonder what Boris will do with Jeremy and Gove?

Nope. He was offered an apparent demotion and declined, so is a back bencher again.

It’s not a Trump situation there. Hopefully Boris has no twitter account and no god awful rallies, that’s where Trump is at his most cringeworthy. 😅 The checks and balances here haven’t gone anywhere - they’ve chosen their course (lack of) of response. Their hands are not tied, except by their own inertia.

We couldn’t do anything before 2019 because both chambers were under Republican control. Our courts have also shot down one unlawful Trump admin policy after another.
