i had the pleasure of chatting with a lovely young woman who is a local artist and graphic designer while shopping in HL. She is getting ready to open her studio for workshops in all things paper craft, jewelry making, painting and coloring. She wants to not so much teach classes but rather bring people together to share creativity. They would be encouraged to bring their own supplies as well as use her huge stash. Her goal is to create a new “community” of crafters in our area which is sadly lacking in places to commune with other like minded individuals (other than at TM). I wish her well on her endeavor. I only wish she hadn’t moved her studio from a nearby town to one much farther away.
Does anyone have or attend workshops like this in your area? The closest I have come to it is a quarterly class at the library.

The last remaining LSS in my state has monthly craft time on a Friday night for $10. I haven’t gone because I haven’t seen the point, in packing up what I’m working on to go there to do what I’d do here with my own stuff.
Yes the camaraderie would be nice, but I’ve been too lazy.

My LSS offers a 2 day (16 hour) crop for $15. Plus you get anywhere from 10-25% off of your purchases, so the crop (for me) was almost free.
I think a lot of crafters like to go to crops or classes to see what others are doing. It provides inspiration. I am slowly learning to just bring kits to these things so that I don't have haul all of my junk with me.

My LSS brings in craft designers for workshops. Gina K is coming in August. Their usual repeats are Ken Oliver, Taylored Expressions, Dyan Reaveley and Dina Wakley.

Sounds like a version of a "Makerspace". I know some libraries have them. I don't know of any in our area.

The only craft class around here is whatever they’re offering at Michael’s. No thanks. The classes the OP is posting about sound awesome. I so wish they had something like that in my area. Sigh.
