Biggest bestest stamping and scrapping store EVER! they have EVERYTHING!!!! And we can stay over night. The huge crop room is lined with bedrooms. Not fancy like a retreat house but awesome!! Omg that sounds awesome.

I wish I had someone close by to crop or make cards with. One of my BFFs moved away recently, and now I have no one to craft with. Unless you count my mom, who will be 92 in October. It's not really the same, though, because when we make cards or jewelry together, I wind up doing a lot of her work too. Does anyone live in or near New York City? I do!! I work in Manhattan by the Empire State Building and live in Queens. I haven't been to a local crop in years. Hey, Christine! I work in Manhattan too, on 25th St., not far from Madison Square Park. I live in the Bronx, not too far from you. We should get together soon. I'll send you a PM.

I find I lose motivation when I scrap by myself at home, too many distractions when I get "stuck" on a project.
I hate dragging all my stuff to a crop, but am definitely more productive at a crop.

I love hotel retreats! I try to do a 3 day one twice a year. A friend and I are doing one in late August. We love these retreats so much we drive about 5 hours to get there. The uninterupted dedicated crop time is great.

I didn’t know about it until now. Are you going? Have you ever been to one?

Same here...I find myself doing one more thing around the house or DH will pester me so I don’t get too much done.

A 12 hour crop is not worth my time. I want a come in on Friday and leave on Sunday. Maximize my effort. I'm there to scrapbook, so I don't need fancy anything or pampering.

I didn’t know about it until now. Are you going? Have you ever been to one? I'm planning to go, though DS has to go back to college that weekend, so it depends on whether DH wants me to go along on that trip. I only go for the day, and only to shop. I love going to the booths and seeing the products demonstrated, and sometimes you get to try them out for yourself. I always come away inspired. I haven't gone for the last 2 years, but I went regularly before that.

I went to a crop just yesterday. They had 3 or 4 sewing machines making quilts, weighted blankets, and one lady was making pantie liners and was telling me how they were made etc. She totally lost me at panties. Others were doing papercrafting. I made ATC's for a swap next Sunday, theme - Hot August Nights.
I just enjoyed the chatter and noise, and the cookies. There was food there too, but it was "healthy food", spinach, broccoli, and other green things, not in my diet plan. I may go next month. I like the people I met.

For me, going to a crop to scrapbook makes it more productive. I am not distracted by the TV, housework, or anything really. It is like going to a golf course instead of hitting balls in my backyard if I played golf. Or playing in a ball game vs tossing a ball against the garage door.
Now I do not go to socialize, which is the one bad thing about any crop for me. But as long as people let me be productive I am happy.

There is going to be a vendor there that I love. She had the very latest doodlebug an bo bunny this weekend at Lancaster Expo, and she said she will have other new lines as well. It is called Kraft n creativity. She had new Prima at Chantilly Expo. Paperi s $1 a sheet but that's the going rate for paper pretty much.

They have a bulletin board at registration for that.

I don't attend any classes. I find them to be very expensive, and I already know most of the techniques they teach in the classes anyway. Plus I usually have my disabled mother with me, although she might not come this year. She hasn't been feeling well lately.

Add this to the "things I have learned recently ". I did not know this was a thing. Can even buy on etsy.

ok,,I just mean that for some reason..I am starting to wonder why I go to crops...I have a perfect crafting room,,,every little thing I could ever want...prime tv...movies galore..nice temperature...comfy bed to sleep in when I am tired...endless snacks...quiet when I want it...great chair to sit for endless hours......can invite friends when I want the friendship factor....I can even drink!!..
The reason I am posting is I just came from an all inclusive retreat for projects,,,nice hotel,,and a good group of gals..was expensive but hey...I didnt have to haul everything under the sun to the event...easy peasy...
so now I cant think of a good reason to attend no frills crop...omg..I guess I have become a dreaded "crop snob"!!
anyone else out there feel like they are one too?
I stopped going to crops a long time ago. I’d get together with a few friends at the local library to scrapbook, because I didn’t have a scrapbook room, and I lived in a small house. I enjoyed meeting at the library. I enjoy having my own scrapbook room even more. Crops were always too noisy. I have trouble being creative in a noisy environment. I also tended to think about how many cool tools and/or supplies I can buy instead of paying the crop fee. I’d skip the crops and buy stuff instead. I love having my own scrapbook space in my current home. I can invite friends if I want company. I can craft whenever I want. I have no need and no reason to go to crops. Even when my kids were young, I found it easier to scrapbook at home than at a crop. I had 5 kids, but a room full of gals chatting is a lot noiser than my kids were! And I’d still rather spend the money crops would cost on tools and pretty papers.

I'd rather spend my scrapping budget on supplies than a crop. I feel so lucky to have a local no-frills crop to look forward to each month. Great company and it only costs me a small donation.

Hi Kier.! Sure, join us next time! I'll post here the next time we're getting together. Maybe we can all meet for lunch one day soon. I have a late lunch, around 1:30, and I can do a Monday or Wednesday. My schedule might change in October, though.

We get lunch delivered to our office and it isn't always at the same time, I'm at the front desk so it's hard for me to step out. But I'm available after 6pm, or on weekends!

Cropping with a bunch of women is not for the weak hearted! Can be way worse than locker talk with some people! I agree, spinach has no place with paper crafting.
