Greatly looking forward to seeing everyone's makes this month
I'm slowly working on my Kindness shawl, I'm on a section of horseshoe lace, I can only manage a couple of rows at a time then my concentration is gone! I keep reminding myself that even a couple of rows is closer to finished than none.
Aldi has fat quarters and fabric panels in today.
Wool Warehouse has a new needlecraft section Wool Warehouse I'm so excited that they're selling the Coton Perle 8, look at those colours Coton Perle 8

Good morning! I have spent the last few days going full steam ahead on my Buddha shawl. I have 18 more rows to go. The thing is going to be huge. I am thinking I am going to run out of yarn. I will most likely order another whirl. I will make a determination in about 8 rows. I hope to finish this month.

I have a project that I started a long, long time ago. There are several reasons that I put it on hiatus but surprisingly I found I didn't have any other projects on my hook or needles so I decided it was time to finish up this afghan. It has over 1,000 tiny granny squares and involves 13 different colors.
It is 5 feet wide. I am joining as I go and also weaving in the ends (lots and lots of ends) as I go so it is kind of a slow process.
I decided I am going to finish up the project before I start a new one. It is call an Around the World Afghan - I'm about 20% done so wish me luck.

I finally finished binding and labeling this quilt for my youngest grandson. I tweaked Bonnie Hunter's "My Blue Heaven"for the pattern and raided my blue and off-white scraps (didn't make much of a dent. lol.) Had it long-arm quilted as my hands weren't up to free-motion quilting at the moment.

I've not done much, the weather has been too hot for me to crochet. I did finish a quilt top, now to pick out a backing fabric I have felt the same about my knitting last week. It has cooled down a bit, but I am still glad I am mostly knitting baby things. I now have 3 little cardigans where I have knit all the pieces, I just need to sew some seams and do the finishing. I don’t like sewing seams, so not much progress is being made on that front.

Happy birthday lainey I can’t believe it’s August already! It was only March last week wasn’t it? I’ve not done a huge amount of crafting myself. I started an easy cross stitch and will plug away at that when I can. I taught DGD 6 to do running stitch, cross stitch and back stitch and she’s enjoying embroidering her family’s names during the school holidays. She’s using wool and binca fabric and is doing so well for her first attempts that I wish I started her with embroidery floss. Her mum and I made fancy dress costumes for her and her sister for the local children’s parade and the girls and 3 other children came second in the group section dressed as Astrid and a dragon from How To Train Your Dragon with the other children as other characters.

I'm still plugging away on granny squares for a blanket. I'm using Joann's brand of yarn for the first time, and I really like it. It's very soft for a box store yarn. (I should know, I walked the aisles feeling all the brands like a weirdo trying to decide. )

I worked on Christmas cards on a couple of the miserably hot days last week just to think about cooler temps.

I went ahead this morning and ordered another green tea tipple whirl for my Buddha shawl. I cannot wait to finish. Hands down this is one of the coolest things I've ever made. I cannot wait to share it with you guys.

I made a quilt using selvage I’ve accumulated over the years. Selvage are the edge of the fabric with the manufacturer information, etc. that you usually cut off and throw away.

colleen that is awesome! I love the idea of making something beautiful and functional out of something that was just going to be waste. I love it.

Happy Belated Birthday lainey ! Sorry I missed it, but hope you had a wonderful day. jeremysgirl - Can't wait to see your Buddha shawl. I'm sure it will be gorgeous. disneypal - I love the colors in your afghan. 1,000 little granny squares! Very impressive! shelledpea - Absolutely love that quilt! It turned out exceptionally well. Your quilter did a great job. I'm sending all of mine out these days due to arthritis in my hands. All I have managed to do is piece the backing for the baby boy quilt and make the binding. It will be dropped at the quilter's next week. There will be very little work done over the next month or so as we are getting ready for an extended vacation. I have a small needlepoint project I had forgotten about, so I plan to get that on a frame and take with me. It will just be a simple continental stitch so easy to do. We are in the process of booking hotels for our trip and had it narrowed down to 2 hotels in Paris. I told DH that one was very close to a quilt shop, while the other is smack dab in the middle of designer stores. He said he probably had a better chance of not going broke in the midst of the designer shops! Does he know me or what??? ETA: colleen - I LOVE that quilt! It's got a great scrappy look, but also provides a history of all the other quilts/projects that you have made. Have been collecting my selvedge for a couple of years and hope to make something with it all one day.
