Lovely jeremysgirl, that looks an eminently wearable design. And it's ridiculously soft and was a very easy pattern too.

I have a few 1:12th scale dolls that have their undies on and now need dressing ready to be donated to a local special needs schools charity shop. Was thinking of Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and Dorothy from Wizard of Oz. Have I got the fabric I need amongst the shop load that I have stashed? Like hell i have. So off to spend some pennies in one of my two favourite online mini fabric shops. They are both closed for the whole of August. I`m ok now the temper tantrum has burned itself out and the pouting has taken over. suppose I could catch up on some housework... or not

jeremysgirl it's lovely and looks really comfortable to wear. You're on a roll at the moment with your makes
My kindness shawl is finished and I'm disappointed with it, it's so small and I'm not sure that blocking it to death would make it a wearable size. I enjoyed knitting the lace very much though.

Loving all the creations posted. Special praise to jeremysgirl for posting two great projects and to colleen, not only for a fabulous quilt but for the waste not want not aspect of her work. The reducer, recycler, repurposer in me applauds.

Not half as much as I`d like to wellway. in my defence they only sell small pieces of fabric for about £1 each, so not like the cost buying by the metre.

lainey can you repeat some rows and make it bigger? I used every bit of my yarn My biggest pet peeves is that I always underestimate my yarn. So I run out all the damn time. The yardage posted never seems to apply to my projects. And the best yarns are usually only available in limited quantities. I'm so sorry. I know exactly how disappointing that is.

The pattern called for one 100g skein but lace is such a yarn eater I think at least a 150g was needed. I'm always slightly disappointed with how small my knitting turns out, maybe I need to loosen up my tension a bit?!

I'm not sure if I'm the last person to know about this but I thought I'd share. Lots of knitting and crochet magazines to look through.

The pattern called for one 100g skein but lace is such a yarn eater I think at least a 150g was needed. I'm always slightly disappointed with how small my knitting turns out, maybe I need to loosen up my tension a bit?! I am not the right person for this question. I am going to ask my expert knitter friend, Nia, tomorrow night when I go craft with her. My crochet tension is never right. I am consistent throughout my garments but I can't seem to ever get my tension square correct on anything. Some people managed that Buddha shawl with one whirl. It took me part of a second one. I question whether if I had sized down a hook to a 3 mm instead of a 3.5 whether I could have pulled it off in one skein. But then it would have been smaller too and I'm very happy with the size that it is. I'm a big girl, need a big shawl. I'm just wondering had you loosened up would it have taken even more yarn? These are all unsolved mysteries in my head. I will ask my friend tomorrow as I don't knit and report back.

Here are 2 doilies that I recently finished. I also made a granny square lapghan for my 92 year old great aunt. She was recently moved to a care facility near me and is having a hard time adjusting. Her home, her dog and almost all of her belongings were left behind in Arizona, and now she is here in Washington. I hope a hand made gift will let her know that I care and brighten her day at least a little.

I have trouble crocheting with thread - I'm very impresses with your skills!! That is so sweet of you to make the lapghan for your great aunt. I am sure it was a difficult transition for her but I am sure the lapghan will give her some comfort in knowing how much you care for her.

teri that black, purple and orange one needs to get in my closet! Gorgeous. snoopy how do you crochet with such thin thread? What size hook? That top one looks like a beautiful snowflake. lainey my friend Nia says size up your needles and try the lace shawl again. She said gauge is a tricky bitch just as we thought. She showed me two shawls, same pattern, same yardage, one knitted on size 4 needles and one knitted on size 7 needles. I couldn't believe they were the same shawl. I couldn't believe they used the same amount of yarn. The different effect was so stunning.

Her home, her dog and almost all of her belongings were left behind in Arizona, and now she is here in Washington. I hope a hand made gift will let her know that I care and brighten her day at least a little. I recognize those patterns. My Grandma crocheted on auto-pilot. I distinctly remember the first time I noticed how good and fast she was. We had driven a motor home to visit her and she was in it as we all headed somewhere. I remember her sitting on a bench seat talking and catching up all the while a crocheted masterpiece was flowing down from her needles. For a young tomboy/kid who didn't yet care for that kind of thing, I was still impressed. Actually in awe. I treasure some of those pieces that I have. Love them snoopy

jeremysgirl both of those doilies are using size 10 thread and a 1.5mm hook. I taught myself to crochet several years ago, but I never wear any of the scarves or hats that I’ve made, so I decided to try doilies. Most of the ones I make just get wrapped in tissue paper and put away in a box, but they don’t take up much space in my closet! I see the beautiful blankets that you and others have shared here, and I’m a little jealous. I don’t have the patience to work on such a big piece. I get easily distracted, so I can only stay engaged in a project that changes the stitch pattern with each round.

Thank you PLurkerI had a coworker who was amazing with a crochet hook. I was mesmerized just watching her. I’m afraid I’m not quite that good.

Thank you PLurker I had a coworker who was amazing with a crochet hook. I was mesmerized just watching her. I’m afraid I’m not quite that good. Well, my Gram was nuts (in a good way), she also was a prolific quilter and never owned a sewing machine. You may not be that fast but you are obviously that good with the end results.
