What photos do you make a point of taking during each celebration of event?
Events such as, but not limited to:
Birthdays
New Year's
Summer (not really an event, but you know.)
Holidays
Family reunion
I'd love some ideas, and where better than the peas. 😀

To answer my own question:
Birthdays - gift opening, candles being blown out.
Christmas - gift opening, playing with new toys, making cookies, decorating the tree.
Thanksgiving - the buffet of foods we make. sometimes some of the kids.
Easter- egg dyeing, egg hunt, the filled baskets, kids with bunny ear headbands on
As my kids have gotten older, they are so less open to photos being taken of them. Add to that my own mother hasn't allowed her photo to be taken in years, and I struggle just to snap a few.

Christmas - a photo of the tree and any special foods we make
Thanksgiving - a photo of the table
Summer - my DS works at a camp and I love to have photos from camp. Usually, it’s like pulling teeth to get photos; but this year they had a female media director and she took and shared a ton of photos. So this year I actually have photo of my DS working at camp. Yayyy!

I always try to get photos of DH and me with the grands. I also try to get them with the great-grandparents.
I really should plan ahead. I like your suggestions.

I try to get a group shot and I try to make sure I'm in a photo. If there are people who don't make the group shot I try to make sure I snap a photo of them.

Thanksgiving-the food, we each do a "I'm thankful for (fill in the blank) card and I add them to a pocket page. And us girls do an annual overnight trip that evening to shop the next day so there's photos of us.
Christmas-the tree before and after gifts are opened, the booze for Santa (that's a funny family joke with a story that's been embellished more over the years) and a family photo in front of tree. 😁
The other events are pretty much the usual things.

When the kids were little, I unintentionally established some "tradition" photos - thank goodness, because my kids now don't fight those being taken! It's just...tradition Every birthday - all 3 of them as a group, often holding their "baby" sister between them Every Christmas Eve - family group in front of the tree; kids group in front of the tree; "silly" shot of funniest faces or poses you can think of Christmas Season - pictures with dog/cats in Santa hats (have to be held by people or they don't cooperate. go figure) Big Movie releases (Hunger Games, Star Wars, Avengers...): picture of group at theatre in front of the movie poster. Sometimes in 3d glasses Beach/Summer - posing on the beach; posing in front of the tents; fishing/canoeing; selfie in the van with our ice creams or slurpees as we leave at the end of the week Easter - I've stopped photographing the hunt (we do a treasure hunt now, with tricky clues that often lead through the neighbourhood weather permitting) but I get a picture of the candy consumption afterwards - the "candy coma" photo - the kids love setting that one up! Halloween - holding your carved pumpkin; and a "be your pumpkin" silly picture In our family, the silly photos REALLY help the mood and cooperation! I have too many to count, and my coworkers think I'm crazy because it's those pictures I often put up at work because they make me smile! I also often will use "now a grandma photo" (ie I'm sending this one to grandparents) to make them stop horsing around and just put on a cheesy smile for a second.

I usually aim for...
A photo of myself in front of whatever indicates the event, circumstances, reason I am there. For instance. Girls night out (photo with cocktail in hand or holding dessert ), in front of the concert sign/wall poster advertisement, in front of the harvest fest sign, sitting in the bleachers, etc... I recently joined a fitness center. I want a photo of the gym sign, me on the treadmill, need to take a "before" photo so I down the road I can take a making progress photo.
Group photo, if I am with others.
A few photos of whatever is happening. Concert stage, funnel cake food truck, bbq food table, holding mall shopping bags, Niece playing her instrument, Nephew on the ball field, etc...
I usually aim for a couple-few photos when taking photos, then I will choose the best one for the scrapbook. Especially when doing a group photo(the more, the better.... to end up with a good one).
I try to be cognizant of what I am doing. I quickly take my photos and be done with it, that way I enjoy the event, instead of viewing things "from behind the lense".

I'm lucky if I ever remember to take a photo at an event. One year I only had 8 photos of Christmas.
I do tend to take a photo of my nephews every time we go out to eat. I swear 80% of the photos I have of them are at a restaurant table.
