I was never really into them because of all the issues I had with rub ons.
I do like Simple Stories clear photo overlay stickers though! They look like rub ons but are way easier to use. You just stick it on.

I still use my Making Memories alphabets in the narrow little book with the popsicle stick tool. I have over 50 books of them and still stalk e-bay for the more unusual fonts and colors. I recently scored a set in orange - perfect for Halloween and fall scrapbook pages, projects and cards. I keep them stored in their original little plastic box in a larger covered container and they have held up remarkably well considering they are all over 10 years old. I have a centering ruler I use to draw out light pencil lines or dots to help in placement for titles, phrases and names. The lines erase easily without removing the rub on if I use a very light hand and a white eraser. If I screw up and misplace a letter or have mounted it crookedly, the gummy adhesive remover square thingy easily takes it off the page without leaving any mark. It is so much easier than trying to glue down die cut letters when trying to personalize something!

I used to love rub-ons and defended them hardcore, but not anymore. My MM letter books became stuck to the backing sheet, and thennnnnn--and this was the most heartbreaking thing in the world--my HAMBLYS became stuck. I had invested so much in those dang things and had to pitch them all. oh no! I have a stack of MM letter books sitting there, all aged and stuff. Gonna try them tonight and see what happens.

I have a stash, and also, I appreciate you describing how you use them because I swear it's been so long since I used mine (over 10 years!) that I'd forgotten about the gummy eraser trick!

My bigger, wider MM books without the little plastic case and popsicle stick did not hold up as well and I tossed those a few years ago. When they came out, I didn't think the bigger books nor the monograms were of as good of an original quality as the little letter packed ones were. They were backed with plastic where the little books backed the letters on a tissue like paper that seems to have held up better.

Ah, okay those narrower smaller ones with the tissue are the exact ones that I have still, thank you!
