Thanks birukitty for the info. When the OP first posted I totally misunderstood her post. I thought it was going to be a discussion on peas who stray from following CG.I realized after peas posted that the discussion was actually about using various products and how many to use.I would not have posted had I understood correctly. However in doing so I am learning new info. I have gone to CG website and can't remember the numbers for my hair type. It is a combo of curly and wavy. It takes an hour or more to try with one side taking longer than the other. My hair is in between fine and heavy. Coloring does add weight. I know if I gave up the hair color it would be curlier but I'm not ready to do that. Anyway I'll try co-wash only and see how it goes.

I have curly, thick hair, that I have subdued with flat irons, curling brushes, etc forever. I started using LUS Brands products about a month ago on a recommendation from a friend. I shampoo and condition one day and then just spray my hair with water the second and sometimes third day. My hair is healthier and EASY. I sometimes dry it with a diffuser but mostly I 'plop' with a t shirt and let air dry. I have awesome curls now. This too is sulfate and paraben free. My hair is grey and the products I used before actually turned it dull and brown over time. I was using baking soda with an apple cider rinse twice a week to brighten it up. Since going with LUS I'm not having to do this. I agree with the others that you DON'T have to do everything in any method, find out what works for you. Curly hair..it has a mind of its own. Thank you! I was going to start another thread asking about LUS Brands after I finished reading! You saved me the trouble! I ordered it today, anxiously waiting for it to arrive!

For me, the last year has been about accepting the hair I have, as it is. Going grey, embracing the curls and letting my hair be how it wants to be. This is my goal!

I’m totally following the CG approved products and routines, but have been overwhelmed by the number of products and time commitment I see from some. I am definitely seeing results, but need simplicity in my daily routine. I have 2B-C, high porosity, medium weight strands, and lots of hair.

Scrappinmama-If your hair is looking limp by 3 pm it could be the styling products you are using. What products are you using and what kind of hair do you have? 2 weeks means you are still in the transition phase. If you give it more time your hair will start looking better and better. Thanks for answering all of our questions! I would say that I'm a 2C, depending on the day. I have thin hair, low porous hair, but a lot of it. I can definitely feel product buildup by not washing it every day and I think that's the problem I am having with limp hair. I'm using a Garnier Fructis sulfate free shampoo and conditioner (using shampoo every other day), then I put in a Garnier Curl leave in conditioner cream or Deva Curl B'Leave-In curl plumper then scrunch with a microfiber towel, followed up Garnier Fructish curl constructing foam. I think I'm going to move away from Garnier products and see if I get any improvement. I'm so sorry I didn't get back to you Scrappinmama. I think you'd have much better results using water soluble products. Those are Devacurl, Jessicurl, Moptop, Raw Curls and Innersense. The two least expensive lines are Jessicurl and Moptop. Since your hair sounds a lot like mine (2c, thin hair strands, low porosity) I would advise against Devacurl (too much protein-thin and low porosity doesn't do well with a lot of protein) Moptop has glycerin which at least on my hair adds frizz. Jessicurl is perfect for me and the website offers samples which I find very helpful because you can try out products without paying full price. The website is jessicurl.com Before you switch product lines you really should clarify your hair to get out any product buildup you have from whatever you were using before. A great clarifying shampoo is Kinky Curly Come Clean. It's very strong so it's great to follow that up with a great deep conditioner. To get my curls to hold I use two styling products. Jessicurl Confident Coils (a curl activator) and Jessicurl Spiralious (a gel) I use about a half dollar size amount in my palm of each. I have bra length hair. I can understand budget and I know that water soluble lines cost more but people tend to use less of them. As your hair gets healthier you'll be able to stretch the amount of days between washes. I'm now washing my hair every 7 days. You can also buy Jessicurl products from Amazon as long as it says Jessicurl ltd.

Thank you! I was going to start another thread asking about LUS Brands after I finished reading! You saved me the trouble! I ordered it today, anxiously waiting for it to arrive! Let me know what you think! I was out in a crowd Friday night and got THREE compliments on my HAIR. THAT has never happened. And the best part? I literally hadn't thought about it the whole day. Oh, and I learned that you could put a few squirts of the All In One in the water spray bottle to use the second/third day. I hadn't been doing that, but started over the weekend. We'll see.

Katiepotatie-sounds like you are doing great! Remember that each of us has our inherited curl pattern that is ours. The CG method can help us make our our healthy and increase it's curl potential but it'll never make me a curly girl when I'm a wavy girl. Playing with techniques is great and searching for your holy grail in products is fine too. Personally I love Jessicurl products. They are my holy grail. They are all I use from shampoo to conditioners to styling products. Quick update... thank you for this, and your detailed reply to so many. It’s a month later, and I realize now, that while I was (am) on the right track, I was comparing my wavy hair to those with much curlier hair. And I was thinking that I wasn’t doing enough to get *there*. I was overwhelmed with the lengthy routines that so many share. I have figured out a basic routine that involves a 10 min. shower and no more than 10 min. on my hair post-shower. That includes diffusing time. I’d like it to be drier before work starts, but I’m becoming ok with scrunching out the crunch about an hour into my work day! On my days off I still try out new techniques and will occasionally try a new product. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement and suggestions!

I’m happy to hear your progress, OP.
The other day I got a really nice compliment on my hair. It made me so happy. CG has really been great for me.

I'm thrilled I was able to help you-you've made my day. I agree with you that some curly girls get into the CG method and make it like a hobby-they buy tons of products, spend hours on their hair and just basically go way overboard. If that makes them happy then good for them. But it doesn't mean that doing the CG method has to take hours a day nor do you have to buy tons of products either. I'm so happy you've been able to find what works for you.
