A very good friend of many years is having surgery for this today. Has anyone here had it done?? A bunch of us would like to do something for her when she gets home. Surgery was earlier today on Long Island.

I have trigeminal neuralgia but haven't had an mvd. On various fb groups for TN I know that the pain doesn't always disappear straight away, and unfortunately the success rate is quite low. Your friend may have headaches for a while (different from TN pain) and may not be up to company for a couple of days. Thank you for being a good friend for her, TN is a beast of a disorder and it often scares people away.

She's been in such pain that this is hopefully going to help. She's had a few consultations and this surgeon came highly recommended. I pray it helps her

My dad suffered for years, until he found a surgeon in Ohio whose procedure & result were miraculous! Prior to his surgery he could no longer chew food, shave, receive a hair cut, be outside on a windy day. The pain was too fierce. His procedure was 20 years ago. We are so thankful for that procedure because it saved my dad's life and gave him a reason to live again.

Thank you for being there for your friend. I’m “lucky” in that my TN is controlled thru medication. I’ve known people who medication didn’t work/stopped working and chose the surgery route to varying degrees of success.
I’m so hoping this works for your friend. Wonderful news that she’s already feeling relief.

Update: She has had NO PAIN since a few days after surgery. This has totally changed her life for the better. She and I were born on the same day--our moms are life long friends--and I am so happy for her
