If nothing else, this whole episode should serve as a warning to everyone about just how public things are when you post on the internet. Even after you delete something, many things are archived in Google cache for a period of time and in the wayback machine at archive.org.
I was able to learn exactly who Adam is through nothing more than the fact that he told us his first name was Adam, the site host he chose for his forum, and his own words from public posts on this board and his board.
Depending on what someone has posted publicly on other sites (especially Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, other social sites, and other message boards), that can be enough to find out someone's home address, their phone number, their employer, and their job title.

I cannot believe the response Arvixe sent to Gale W. Their support team knows darn good and well exactly when that site was created and that it was NOT an old abandoned site. I can't believe they sent out such a statement. It would have been much better to say something very generic such as: "Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We have deactivated the site while we investigate what has happened. Rest assured that we will take whatever action is necessary to make sure this does not happen again."
I am very tempted to write to them and inform them of all the specific details I'm aware of, just to see how they would respond when confronted with an outside party who knows the truth.
They have just guaranteed that if I am ever in need of a new site host for my business, I'll never take a look at them. I will also certainly never recommend them to anyone, either.

SMH..... I can't believe anyone in the position to misappropriate a site wouldn't realize that he was leaving a trail. And if he did understand that and failed to appreciate the fact that together, we encompass an enormous breadth of knowledge and talent..... ..... all I can do is SMH some more.

I'm glad that the site was shut down. I read that on another thread that he sent them a angry e-mail. I hope he doesn't start harassing others.

I have no plans to contact Arvixe about anything at this point in time, as doing so could potentially have some very severe repercussions for someone, that I really don't wish to see happen. I just hope that Adam learned something and will never attempt to do anything like this ever again. I also still hope he'll turn over the URL to our admin here so she'll have it available for future use when we outgrow ProBoards. That would be a responsible and ethical thing to do, and would help begin to make amends.

I did reply saying that they were not auto-replies and that the site was up and running when I sent the initial email (and I'm 100% positive as I was copy/pasting the conversation AND taking screen shots at the time). Whatever-it's over now.

If anybody receives any sort of angry or harassing emails or PMs from this Adam guy, I'll be happy to give you information you can use to get it shut down pretty fast. Just get in touch with me via private message.

Good grief! Has it only been just over a week since the peas went down? And in that time, we've found a new home and fought a "hostile" takeover? And won! I guess the peas are alive and well! I'm only posting since I know it won't bump to the top. Good job keeping your cool Admin! Now, if we can keep the "pea power" to the good!

I wouldn't like to think that Adam would lose his job over this piece of madness, but I sincerely hope that he gets a very severe reprimand indeed.
The facts are there and visible on the internet and may well come up in searches, which won't enhance Arvixe's reputation.
Just goes to show though, that even though there is the very occasional difference of opinion on the pod, wrong us and you will rue the day, as collectively, we are a force to be reckoned with.

I've only been on for a few days, but this site already feels like our new 2Peas home! I am glad we are all staying. Thank you admin for taking such good care of all of us!
