Last night dh and I were watching B movies on Prime. He chose Hackers (he's an IT specialist). Really early Angelina Jolie, horrible movie, lol.
Dh works in cyber security so he's pretty anal about protection on our devices, etc.
As we're watching the movie, his phone rings and it's a crank call asking if he likes burritos. He determined his number was spoofed. We thought it might be my oldest son (last day at his summer job, etc). Within minutes two of my bils called us saying they got the same call and the number listed was my husband's phone (which is work issued).
Dh ultimately found a weird file on his Google platform and deleted it. He did search ds's phone (because ds had no idea what we were talking about or how to spoof a number).
So long story, we have no idea how this happened, or why it happened during Hackers.
When the movie The Net came out on video, my 8th grade teacher and her husband rented it. Halfway through the movie they got a call from their bank asking about suspicious charges to their credit card. It freaked them out so much that they shut off the movie! 😄. I have no idea why I remember this story!

You’ve got me on that one, but I’ll share anything if it comes up that I feel might be connected. I’ve sort of become like a synchronistic detective and put all the pieces together.
I didn’t know that Hackers was a B movie. I might be confusing movies up but I’m thinking of a movie based in San Francisco/Bay Area, where someone gets kidnapped and driven to a place in the area. There’s a recording during the car ride and that’s how they find out where the kidnapper got taken because of the bumps on the bridge.
