If anyone here ever questions the purpose of their scrapbooking, or worries that nobody will appreciate it, I want to share a quick story with you.
I started out in crafting as a scrapbooker, had a youtube channel, blog and everything. I stopped scrapping a few years ago and moved to card making and mixed media. I am rethinking the notion of not scrapbooking anymore now and let me tell you why.
My mom is in hospice for Parkinsons, she can no longer eat or drink or speak or even move anything on her own. She is in a hospital bed in the living room with around the clock care. She cannot communicate with us in any way (can't even blink on command) but today my brother and I held the scrapbook I made of her from birth to high school graduation and flipped through it to show her the pictures and she LAUGHED several times and just had so much joy in her eyes! Man am I glad I made that scrapbook, just for that moment alone, not to mention the other family members who are enjoying going through it.
Her pages are pretty and have lots of layers and embellishments but they all focus around the photos. I put the dates, the names of the people in the pics and sometimes a quick story when there was one to tell. We read them to her...
This is a moment in time that I hope I never forget and am grateful my brother and I were able to experience it with mom together. The first time in a long time I've seen joy in her eyes and heard her laugh. So remember when you are scrapbooking, these pages may someday mean a lot to someone so keep on scrapping!

This disease took a long time to do this to my mom and she has the worst kind. She did not have the kind that makes you shake. My mom has early stage dementia. My dad has Parkinson's. It's been very slow progressing, but he has lost all his fine motor skills. He doesn't have a lot of shaking, mostly one hand and his jaw. Walking is a shuffle. Thank God he has his memory and no issues with hallucinations. It's so hard to watch our parents decline, isn't it? I hope you have more of those good days!

My son has been dating a lovely girl for years. The ring is purchased. Today he texted that he wanted me to go check out places that he could propose. Number one on his list, he just found out doesn't allow any photography other than a tourist quick pic. So we drove around our city and found some beautiful trails and bridges. He wants me there when he proposes so I can take pictures of the event.
I am hoping when I am older, that I will be the one that the photographs help. It is funny how I remember taking the pictures almost as much as the event in the photos. I can remember the griping, the clowning around, and the kids moods and behaviors at the time.
