I recently started using a toner and am in need of cotton rounds or an alternative. I see that amazon has reusable ones but am wondering what the pros and cons are. Has anyone used them?

Wow, I didn't even know such things existed! I don't think I could ever use them though. I like fresh, new cotton rounds or squares. Use'em then pitch'em. But now I'm curious to see what those reusable ones look like. Off to Google!

I would be concerned about how they held up in the wash. For sure I would buy a little zippered pouch to keep track of them in the laundry . Maybe you can hang it on the back of the bathroom door to put them in when dirty and then just throw it in the wash.

Ok. Saw them on Amazon. They remind me of the time I bought a ton of baby washcloths to use like those cotton rounds. It became another bunch of towels to throw in the wash, fold and put away. I gave up and went back to the disposable kind.

I use a facial cleanser that comes with a fine cotton cloth for washing it off, and it’s good for that purpose, but something similar I would imagine would absorb a lot of your product so you would get through more of your toner. The one I use wouldn’t be soft enough for me to comfortably clean eye make off. Although I do sweep it over my eyes, I think it is too rough to do the repeated wiping over my lids and lashes that I do with a cotton pad to get my makeup off. Interested to see other replies though as I’m all for going green when I can. I now use silicon straws, but found washable panty liners to be like wearing a nappy, so one win one lose from the pea recommendations!

I use them. I just wash them loose in my normal laundry loads and they dry easily and have stood up well so far.
I keep the net bag in my bathroom with the clean ones in. The only downside I find is that for a watery product like my toner I tend to use a little bit more than I would with cotton wool as they're a bit 'padded' and absorbent so sometimes I still use a cotton wool pad for my eye makeup remover (I use quite an expensive one) and use the cotton pad for everything else.

i use reusable bamboo and microfibre cloths - they wash really well. I only use the disposable rounds for removing nail polish now .

About ten years ago lion brand made a wonderful organic cotton yarn. I think it was intended for babies but it was so soft and 100% cotton that I crocheted my own mini cloths for my face and I loved those things. The yarn was quickly discontinued and I haven't found another like it since.

I’ve been using them for about six months now and they hold up just fine. I do use a stain spray like Shout or Spray n Wash on them before putting them in the wash and they are clean out of the washer. The ones I got from amazon came with a small mesh laundry bag. After I use the cotton round the used one goes into the mesh bag and once it is full I toss the bag into the hamper for the next load of laundry. I do take them out of the mesh bag when they go in the dryer or else they don’t fully dry. I haven’t lost a single one which is impressive for me.
I do keep one bag of disposable cotton rounds in case I run out of the cloth ones before I’m able to do a load of laundry and I’ve probably used 5 or 6 in the last six months instead of using 5-6 per day before getting the reusable ones. I also find I use less product and I think the reusable ones are more effective at removing make up and spreading toner.

The reusable pads I've seen are much thicker than the disposable kind. In a pinch, I grab a few squares of TP which would be a money saving option even if still disposable.

I actually feel that I use less product when I use the reusable pads because while they are more absorbent the product still gets dispersed onto my skin, while I feel like with disposable cotton pads it just leaks out onto my hands and arms while I’m moving them around on my face.

I just put them in my laundry bin daily and wash them whenever I do a wash load. I only do laundry once or twice a week so by the time I’m ready to do a large enough load I’ve just about used all of them. I don’t like washing them outside of the mesh bag because we have a front loader and when I’ve tried washing them out of the bag they get trapped in the rubber seal and they don’t actually get washed, they just sit in soapy water and don’t get rinsed or spun out in the cycle with the rest of the laundry.

It happens with my short ankle socks too, I think the small size makes it easier for them to slip into that area. I’m fine with it happening to something that goes on my feet but I’m a little more wary when it comes to something that touches my face

I also use them and wash them once a week or so in a mesh bag. I don’t really notice a difference between the cotton and cloth ones. I got my cloth ones on Etsy.

DD made some using some leftover white flannel squares that I had after finishing a project. She stacked 2 or 3 squares together and then zigzaged around the outer edge to prevent fraying.
She puts the used ones in a mesh lingerie bag and then tosses that in with the laundry.

Thanks! I will give them a try.
I’ve never thought to put my thin no show socks in a lingerie bag, but that sounds like a good way to make sure they don’t get lost.

I made myself some with some leftover flannel and cotton I had. That was about a year ago and they have held up great, a few have some loose stitching, but not bad. I just toss them in the laundry with my regular laundry, nothing special.

I use baby washcloths. They don’t absorb a lot of my product and can be thrown in with a load of towels. We like babay facecloths, as facecloths they dry so fast. We don't even have humidity here but I don't like cloths hanging all day waiting for them to dry. I recently thought I'd like to stop buying cotton rounds. I don't like the idea of crocheted ones because the dish rags never seem to dry and they also seem like they would absorb too much product. I thought of asking my mom to sew a couple layers of flannel together. But then decided to just use my good old baby facecloths. DD has some really small no show socks I put in a mesh bag in the laundry. I'm scared they will get sucked into the washer.

You know what I thought you were thinking of? Yes my mind went there. I know there are women who use reusable pads down there(far away from your face) down there. 😀

I've been curious about these. I'm glad people like them. They are next on my list to try. I have a makeup remover cloth that I use. I use toner after washing my face, so these wouldn't get covered in make up. I just need to make sure that I get them back in the little bag so they don't get lost in the washing machine!

I like the makeup eraser cloths for washing my face, but for some reason, I can't get away from cotton pads for toner and when I use micellar water. A lot of days I use eye makeup remover, and I use a cotton pad for that too. The Shiseido ones are so soft, I love them and just don't see myself stopping using them all together. (Bonus when I find them at TJ Maxx! ) I do use a lot less disposable makeup wipes since I bought several of the makeup erasers. A little spray and wash and they don't stain. I also got a set of 6 or 8 little round ones at Macy's a few months ago that are a great size to throw in my makeup bag.

Someone here recommended the ones I use, I'm sorry that I don't recall who it was - but here's a link Bamboo Rounds
