The real 60s like the ladies are doing for 50? I turned 60 this year and it has been interesting coming to terms with it. In some ways it’s no big deal and other days it’s holy fuck!

I feel my age.. 63.. but then I still go and do whatever I can/want. this week I am going on a very short solo backpack trip. i would be happier with someone to share the load. but know I will get there slowly. going to wilderness beach ... and driving 900 miles alone before I get there. I will retire next year, then dh and I can go on more spur of the moment travel. and I hope to get in more skiing.

I’m in! At 62 I’m still coming to terms with being “old”. Most of the time I feel about 50, but when friends and acquaintances in the 65-70 range start dropping it gives you pause.

Me too, I'm in. I'm 64 and it ticks me off when i hear on the news "something... something, happened to and elderly person aged 60-69." I'm NOT elderly. I may be a senior but I'm NOT elderly! arghhhhh

I'm 62. I also still feel like I'm in my 30's. It was a big shock when I got my first senior citizen discount!
Right now I'm going through all the tests and procedures they give old people and I'm not liking it.

I'm in! I'll watch both this and the 50's thread, although I belong in this one! I'm 60. But, if I didn't know how old I was I'd say I was 39. So far, I'm lucky that I don't really feel the years quite yet. I think we should encourage each other to continue to enjoy life and be as vital as we ever were. I think maybe keeping plans and hopes is key. My biggest issue to date is probably the metabolism slowing down and weight and fatigue trying to take over!

Btw I kind of woke up during mine a mumbled “what are you doing back there?!”🤣🤣🤣

I’m in! At 61, it’s not bad but sometimes standing up is an adventure. Never quite know what’s going to work well or hurt.

I’ll play, too. I’m 67.
If you haven’t read Women Rowing North by Mary Pipher, please do. Pipher explains this time in our lives so well and offers a thoughtful perspective on aging. It’s story-like. She interviewed numerous women, and just in the first three chapters, I’ve felt myself on the page a lot. It’s easily read and goes fast.
Thanks for starting this thread!

I'm in. I'm 63, although every time someone asks my age and I say 63 I think "How the hell did that happen?" And how the hell did my 'babies' turn 36, 34, and 30? If I could just get rid of the RA, the Fibromyalgia, and the Hashimoto's I'd be happy.

I'm in. I turned 60 last month. I still catch myself being upset and pissed off about stuff that happened in my childhood - and I think - when are you going to get over it - you're old now!

I'm in, too! I'm 62 and loving every minute of it. I was just talking to another friend about age and we both agreed we are feeling really good at our age and don't miss the angst of some of the younger decades.

Can we *early* 70's Peas join y'all? I played 4 games of pickleball this morning so I feel much younger! It's sobering to realize that when I turn 72 in March, I will have outlived everyone in my immediate family. Daddy died at 69, mom at 72 and my sister at 59.

I’m watching this thread, and the 50’s one. I had no idea we’re so many of us this age, I thought y’all were mostly younger.
I’ll turn 62 in October. I don’t know how that happened!
I have 4 grandbabies 5 & younger. I’m having so much fun with them! I feel 40....most of the time...,

Don't like the idea of waking up though. I've been to the health center 8 times in the last month and I have 3 more scheduled appointments. So far everything is ok but I am now taking fish oil pills, vitamin D and calcium pills. It's my new breakfast.

Me me me!
I’m 65. I retired early at 62 and DH just retired at 68. We have 4 grandchildren we call “The Grands.”
I’ll be looking for the wisdom of the 70-somethings Cadoodlebug.
Thanks for the book suggestion desertgirl.
I tell my son (45yo) “when did you pass me in age?” 😆

I will be 64 next month! My sister told me your body started falling apart at 30. I thought she was nuts when I was great through my 30s and 40s, but did find some slowing down starting early 50s. I do pretty good overall, but have a few things that I wish were better like weight and endurance. There are lists that go around from time to time for senior discounts, but I don't feel like a senior, so I always forget to ask. Should be a fun thread.
