Today was my first day with students and there is no doubt why I do what I do.
Sure my counselors don't have schedules set and there is some stupid stuff outside the classroom, but just the comments from my students affirm that I am where I should be.
I ask my students that have had me before to share something they know about me.
They called me mean and tough and nice and awesome.
One of then said, "She's always in your corner even when you don't know you need her to be."
Did I say I love my job?

That's awesome! I admire teachers so much. It's such a hard job, for really crappy pay, and dealing with lots of horse shit. But they really are THE best. Sounds like you're a great one.

the best. Unexpected or overheard compliments are the best. You sound like you are where you should be.

"She's always in your corner even when you don't know you need her to be." This is awesome! Those are some pretty perceptive kids!

That's great! I left my school last year to try another but am going back this year. I have gone in a few times and people I see keep telling me how excited the students are that I'm coming back. I'm excited to start up again!
I know some people don't enjoy teaching for many reasonable reasons, but I couldn't see myself doing anything else! I know a big part of being happy as a teacher is a good administration and the principal at my school is top notch. I am a special educator and I left because of a co-worker. When they learned I was leaving, they retrained him, not only on paperwork, but also some social skills. I don't think he was intentionally as ass, but he was. It meant a lot to me that they were willing to do that, I just wish I had spoken with admin before I made the decision to leave. After the new staff orientation at the other school, I knew I made a mistake. Last year was a long year. It was nice to be welcomed back!
I'm so glad you had a great first day back!!

I think that's the nicest thing anyone can say about someone. You should be very proud!
