Several people with different schedules live in the house.
There are three of us—the dogs get fed morning and night; same with Mabel’s medication.
And I love them to death but… Our dogs lie If you ask them if they’re hungry or if they have eaten yet. They always indicate that they are starving. So we can’t rely on them to tell us if someone has been there and fed them an early supper.
And so, every once in a while they get a second supper. I guess that evening meal is the problem usually.
Suggestions for an easy way to communicate to everyone about the supper and medication? Surely other households have this issue!

It is understood in our house that the dogs get fed at a certain time. Whoever is home at that time gives them dinner. I keep their pills in an old lady pill box with AM and PM slots for each day of the week, so it’s easy to see if they’ve had their meds yet.

Maybe it can be as easy and low tech as keeping a magnetic dry erase board on the refrigerator? In the kitchen is probably where you feed the dogs and dispense medication. You could either do a chart or just a list with the each dog's name in columns across the top. Then as each dog is fed or given medication that dog is given a check mark for that day. You can easily draw lines across the board to keep it neat.
This is a very inexpensive and reusable way to keep track. The tough part will be training each person to make that mark on the chart after every feeding/medication. With some reminding it won't be hard-that chart will be facing them every time they open the refrigerator so multiple times throughout the day (each time they open it to get a snack or drink) they'll be reminded.

I put it on the white board in the kitchen. Day of the week, breakfast, lunch and dinner with a check box next to each. We feed three times a day and our dogs lie too

This is what we do for pets and people at our house, especially for temporary meds that aren’t an ongoing thing. I make a chart right on the sheet that comes from the pharmacy or the vet for the number of days the med needs to be administered with am/pm whatever and whoever gives the medicine checks it off for that day and time. If it was for something that needed to be given forever, I would make a customized dry erase or chalk board that could be reused indefinitely.

LOL. Emma lies, too! And sometimes we get scammed and she gets two dinners. It’s a win for her!
DH and I use a sticky note on the fridge. 99% of the time Emma doesn’t get up with DH and I feed her, but sometimes she will get up if he goes in late. Then DH will put a sticky note on the fridge saying “Emma has been fed”.
For the pills, I’d use the pillbox idea. Especially if the meds aren’t given at the same time as a meal. An app or a checklist adds another step for someone that could get forgotten.

We have a 5 year old lab mix with heart failure. She gets meds three times a day. i bought a 7 day, 3 boxes (columns) a day, pill box we refill Saturday evenings and keep it in a specific spot every one knows about. We feed when we medicate, AM and PM. So if the box is empty, we know she was medicated and pets were fed. Nice with lots of people in and out. Pill organizer we use - amazon link.

We have the AM and PM people who feed at those times. We also had a pup for 12 years on meds. I used the AM PM pill boxes. I bought two weeks of them and filled them for the full two weeks. My dog is constantly bringing me her bowl even though she ate 30 minutes prior. Dogs lie. Ha. Mine is a pathological liar.

LOL - my dogs are liars too - EVERY morning the Husky tries to convince DH that I forgot to feed them (I've NEVER forgotten).
Like Merge we feed at specific times (5:30am and 5:00pm). Our dogs' medicine goes into their food, so it's just part of the feeding routine. Once they got used to the routine, they learn to tell time - they start pestering whoever is home at about 4:45, the time change screws them up though.
