The great equalizer.
I wish his family peace and a way to give away their billions to help others flourish.

The great equalizer. I wish his family peace and a way to give away their billions to help others flourish. The article I read in the New York Times today said that David had given 100s of millions of dollars to fund medical research and the arts. They quoted someone from NPR who said David was more of a “classical philanthropist” whereas Charles used his money to promote his political philosophies.

So then, this is more a case of the "good" brother dying and we won't really see any less Koch involvement in politics.

Just that apparently he did give away a lot of money to the arts and sciences.

Giving away <3% of his billions (and much of it to "educational" charities that front for his libertarian ideologies) does NOTHING to negate the evil he has done to our planet and the least capable among us.

I couldn’t get past how the newscaster kept pronouncing his name to delve any further into this story. I had always thought it was pronounced like Mayor Ed Koch.

"How does one eulogize a villain? It’s a question I find myself asking today after reading the news that David H Koch has died. What else can we really call a man who spent his entire adult life enriching himself at the expense of the world around him, leaving in his wake millions of destroyed lives, a planet on the brink of ecological catastrophe, and a nuclear superpower governed by a far-right political party?
While it is generally impolitic to castigate someone after death, in the case of David Koch, it’s hard not to point out that his life’s work was the destruction of others.
Koch went by many titles — billionaire industrialist, businessman, philanthropist, entrepreneur, conservative activist, libertarian vice presidential candidate — and I expect we’ll see many of those thrown around today. But “villain” is the one that suited him best.
Indeed, such is the appropriate term for a profoundly wealthy man who relies on a shadowy network of political advocacy groups to sell unpopular, detrimental policies to unsuspecting voters for the purposes of personal gain. "

In lieu of flowers, the Koch family requests you buy a Republican politician.

Actually, I read several years ago that the Koch bros. We’re not enamoured with the trump. Hopefully the surviving bro won’t donate to his next campaign.
Thoughts and prayers to his surviving brother /s.
