Welcome to Sketchtember! Here is your first sketch. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create something based on this sketch. It could be a scrapbook page (any size), a card, an art journal page, whatever you prefer. sketchtember '19 #1 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Here is my take on the sketch. I decided to stretch it out to a 12x12 page and to switch out the straight border strip for a wavy one that really fit the way dd & family did their cross country road trip, stopping at tourist attractions along the way. Big Red Chair by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Points: one page created & shared (2), #1 Sketchtember page (1) twist (1) & bonus (5), #4 outdoors (1), #5 trip (1), #6 dd's pic's (1), #7 4x6 (1), #8 three pp's (1), #12 inked edges (1), #21 premade words (1), #53 rectangular photo (1), #54 square page (1), #71 dog in photos (1), #80 dots (1), #95 dd's family (1). total: 21 Each sketch challenge is Sketchtember will have a TWIST. For mine, today, I want you to try some DIY colour. I painted a wood element to the colour I wanted it. You could use paint, mists, inks. Maybe colour a stamped image with pens or crayons... Digi scrappers can add colour to an element or to a background. Everyone is welcome to take on this challenge. Please share your takes on the sketch in this thread so we can all be inspired. If you are a September Team player, check out the points system for the Sketchtember challenges in the September Challenges thread. Can't wait to see what you do with this!

So glad I got a chance to scrap today! It's been a while since I've had time to scrap. Here's my take on the sketch: You can tell from my siggy I'm a Cowboys fan. All three of my kids are too, and they're raising the next generation to do the same. The little "moo moo" was born a few days before the photo was taken.

Yay! Happy to see so many playing along! Linda , I love how you followed Chinagirl828’s lead and used the contrasting pp at the top. And such pretty pp. and congrats on all that journaling— that will add up to quite the point total! And mountains as a border strip is a marvellous idea, ABCreations ! Love the enlarged photo and the dynamic colour scheme. KelleeM , that goat diecut is so CUTE! But your photos are cuter! Love how you used the washi as a border strip, and the Nuvo’s to make the circle.

grammadee - thank you. Journalling is copied directly from the sign at the castle (DS always takes pictures of the signs for me - isn't that awesome?) KelleeM - I also LOVE that adorable goat - what a pretty layout!

MDscrapaholic So cute! That football paper is perfect and I love it paired with the lighter neutral and the doodled border. Linda that cherry blossom paper is gorgeous, I love it paired with the solid pink, and this makes a great double pager! ABCreations love the mountains in place of the scalloped pieced and that cute fortune cookie is so cool. KelleeM those little farm animal stickers are so cute, I love the little goat in the grass, and how the ribbon picks up the colours in the butterfly paper. AussieMeg I've left some love in the gallery.

My take on the sketch and for my twist I colored the flower, not once but twice to get the right color I needed for the products I had on hand.

Here is my #1 sketch layout with the twist. I painted the little bird and then heat embossed him. MIckey Love MDscrapaholic, your Touchdown page is so cute. I love the sign he is holding. Great use of the football paper and Cowboys icons. Linda, I love your use of the sketch. The beautiful large photo and the tiny little doll look perfect together. What interesting facts. I love the quote on the card. Beautiful pages. ABCreations, the colors on your layout are so deep and pretty. I love all the little accents of mountains, lanterns and fortune cookies. This is a beautiful page. KelleeM, your layout is adorable. I love that little billy goat and the cute animal heads. Visiting a farm with children is the best. You really captured it. Dictionary, great page about kite flying. I love what you did with the flower. It’s the perfect color even if it took painting it twice! Such cute photos and dainty butterflies. buggirl47 your dog is so cute. I love, love, love this page. Clean and classy and just perfect. This is my favorite kind of page. Love the banners. grammadee, AussieMeg, ComplicatedLady, Chinagirl828, and DawnMcD there is love in the gallery for your #1 sketches. Beautiful layouts.

That is a lovely photo, @elaynef. No wonder everyone likes it. Love it scrapped with the blues, and great idea to rotate the whole sketch, including the scallops. Are those blue doilies? Or a border punch?
