I finished a single page layout today I started on Friday! I went from my goal of 4-5 layouts a week to actually completely one a week. But, I have been in my area almost everyday organizing, stamping, or looking at sketches for ideas. I have also been watching RTS Youtube videos the last few days. Tonight I plan on making simple base pages with some unloved paper just to do something scrappy.

I finished 3 more cards and coloured and die cut and assembled 10 ATC cards. My table is a mess. But that is for another day.
I got ten cards made and addressed and stamped. On our evening walk I will mail them.

Let us know if you use the ones you make.

I have my first (ever) guest designer spot up on the Cut To You blog today 😁 I have applied for a handful of design teams over the last twelve months. Although I've not made it onto any design teams, I am really happy to have been asked to contribute as a guest designer. There will be another one up mid-September. cuttoyou.com.au/2019/09/02/for-the-love-of-books-guest-designer-belinda-jane/Good Job! you made a wonderful layout! I checked out you youtube video and it was well done. I subscribed cause I like your style and creativity. Keep it up!

I just bought 2 new Christmas lines for my retreat this coming weekend. I was so excited that our store finally got in Prima Christmas in the Country and MME Yuletide. LOVE both of these lines! They are so different from each other. I love the down home country feel of Prima with the gold foil to the airy, delicate silver glitter touches of Yuletide. After 24 years in this business, I still get giddy for new product.

I have been putting together page kits for an upcoming retreat, and they are coming together very well.
Yesterday I took a break from kit making to work on a page. It felt really good to scrapbook again; it's been a while. I'm hoping to finish up the page in the next day or two.

Yesterday I picked up 2 packs of autumn puffy stickers at the Target Dollar Spot. One is glittery orange pumpkins. The other is pumpkins, toadstools, and changing leaves. Both $1/ pack.
Then I hit Dollar Tree and bought 4 packs of large enamel alpha stickers. Similar to thickers. I bought one dark blue, one white, two black. I wish they had had any more white or black, because I would have bought them. They had a lighter sky blue that I passed on, and lots of bright pink, that I also passed on.
Today I'm going to pick up page protectors. I have stacks of layouts just waiting.

I have my first (ever) guest designer spot up on the Cut To You blog today Gorgeous layout! Love all the textures. Our house is shuttered up (is that a real saying?) and we are hunkering down for the duration of the storm. So...I'm super curious...do people in Hurricane zones keep "shuttering" materials in the garage? Do you buy houses with shutters ready to put up? Or did you go to the store and get the metal and have to do all that work on the fly? I can imagine there is a huge rush to purchase plywood and whatnot when a storm approaches... (Tornados are the thing here and you can't really prepare for those )

Or did you go to the store and get the metal and have to do all that work on the fly? I can imagine there is a huge rush to purchase plywood and whatnot when a storm approaches... (Tornados are the thing here and you can't really prepare for those ) I believe after the 2004 hurricane season, shutters became mandatory when a home is built. My current home was built in 07 or 08 and my shutters are in the garage. They are shaped pieces of metal that nest one inside the other so they don’t take up much space in the garage. Maybe 1.5 feet x 1.5 feet? They are a pain in the ass to install. My landlord sent four guys over to install mine (and somehow managed to “forget” three windows...) and it took them 1.5 hours to put them all up. Houses built before 04 either need to have shutters purchased (with the corresponding bolts installed on the house) or home owners buy plywood to cover windows and doors. When a hurricane is imminent, the whole state goes a little nuts. Stores run out of water, generators, plywood, bolts and wing nuts (used to put up shutters), bread, eggs, peanut butter... it’s crazy. I go early, then stay away from the stores! This storm took forever to make it to Florida and the waiting is the worst part. It was like being stalked by a turtle.

It was like being stalked by a turtle. I know it's not funny, but this was great. My experience is also tornadic in nature, and those tend to be swift and fierce, I can imagine the waiting could make a person go a little bonkers. Kinda like being penned up after a blizzard.

my craft room is a shambles right now; I never put stuff away after I got back from my CM crop, and that was a week ago on Saturday, already! The dining room table is also a shambles... I didn't want to stop creating after getting home from the 12-hour crop, so I just spread my stuff all over the dining room table, lol. Since that Saturday (8/24), though, I've made 39 base pages-- 17 2-pg backgrounds, and a few one-pagers. The layouts I've made are from a number of different sources: 1) Organized and Creative Mom's CM sketches: 1 piece of patterned paper, 2 pieces of cardstock, and 3 cuts with the trimmer = arrange the pieces to make a 2 pg layout 2) Instagram, pages from CM Japan consultants (they do some REALLY creative things with their patterned paper and punches!); ideas from either sketches or completed layouts 3) CTMH page kit and the layout ideas included with the page kit 4) plain cardstock background with Kiwi Lane style borders on each side 5) a few of Janet's / RTS base pages (large block of paper on the background) 6) Janet's / RTS 4x4 series (you cut up 4 patterned papers and arrange the pieces on 4 different backgrounds = 4 page layouts) Most of these layouts are 'generic' enough that any arrangement of photos will work on them. I just chose papers that fit my 'mood and feel' for southwest / Arizona photos, because I have a particular trip in mind that I want to scrap. When I finally print those photos, I should be able to use any of the layouts for them; then I'll be able to get to the fun part - the photos arranging and embellishing- that much quicker. eta: another one of Janet's ideas that I adopted I think will help me a LOT: these in-process pages are all in page protectors in a 12x12 D-ring photo album. I put them into the page protectors along with whatever sketch / idea I used, and put any additional pre-cut pieces or scraps inside its page protector, too. I originally had both pages of the layouts stuck into one page protector, but I rearranged it all so each 2-pg layout is actually in 2 page protectors like it should be- this way I can see the layouts much easier when I'm glancing thru the album to choose pages to use. (I also need to make some cards, too- my sister had to put one of her dogs to sleep a couple days ago, so I need to make a pet sympathy card as well as a few other everyday cards to have on hand.) LavenderLayoutLady, is Dollar Zone a particular dollar store chain? those alpha stickers sound interesting! what area of the country are you in? I'm not sure I've ever seen a store named Dollar Zone in Phoenix.

I got one layout done, my first towards the September challenge board. I've got one layout done and sat there trying to check off points but dang..so many categories! That took a while to figure out I spent most of my weekend doing the finishing clean out of my scrap room, I got the last baskets sorted through and did some purging. I got all the things I had taken off the walls (I moved furniture around) and get everything rehung. Only a couple of small 'hot spots' done but for the most part I feel like I can really get into it again and tonight is the night, oh yeah, oh yeah. DD 13 has youth group at church tonight so I'll have a few hours of uninterrupted scrap time. I really have to print out recent pictures of her. I've been Iphone picture taking for the past 5 years or so and have NOTHING printed. I don't even know how. I mean I know it's not hard but I have to sit down and figure out what app and can CostCo print them out? IDK those are the things I don't know right now and don't want to spend the mental energy figuring it out. So I'm going to have to just scrap old pics until I get my ass in gear and get some recent pics printed.

I’ve done a couple pages this weekend which makes me happy. But my biggest thrill is winning a $100 gift card on a Simon Says Stamp Instagram challenge. I can’t stop perusing, filling my cart, then starting again.LOL. It’s also just in time to maybe grab a goody or two from the Stamptember releases....I really like the critter crowd set. So cute. No way. Wow. What an awesome prize

I have been using the app too and I think it is going to help me use them more because it will be so much easier to search them. Yes, I'm so excited about the search function. I made fairly detailed tags so that I could easily find sentiments, especially - I always forget which sets have a Mother's Day stamp, for example, so I'm super psyched to be able to just search for "mother" and find all of the sets that contain that word in them.

I was lucky to kick off Labor Day with an add on crop at one of my regular venues. I got a decent dent in my recent photos getting scrapped and in their albums.
My adult son decided to start a facebook group for adults who grew up on our street, and he has been pulling out the scrapbooks to add the many photos I've scrapped in the years they grew up here. My boys entire lives are in scrapbooks so it is an overwhelming task for him to go through all of them.
I also ran into an acquaintance at one of the Expos this summer who used to run great crops. She's back with CM and running crops at a church less than a mile from my son's house if I was inclined to stay over. In Sept she has a crop planned for the end of the month that I've signed up for.
I saw Scrap your trip had a small sale so I ordered a bunch of papers to scrap our recent trip to visit our son in California, including Yosemite. I don't do family albums anymore so all those layouts will go in DS2's albums. I still keep scrapbooks for my adult sons!
I finished the month of June for DGD and am almost done with July and August. That little girl has an album for almost every month of her life. Today I took the June album over to her mom. She told me when they were packing to move a few weeks ago she looked though the books and was happy to see so many memories preserved. Both she and my son send me photos to scrap, but since I babysit her most photos come from me! I think I need to slow down a bit, but all these firsts are irresistible.

This has been such a lousy summer with this and that going wrong. Just when I thought I could finally get time alone to do some crafty work now I have to spend my time changing my email on every blessed thing. I just want a month to do my own thing for a change.

I put a large stack of layouts in page protectors this morning, and put them away in their albums.
Not exciting, but satisfying.

Last weekend we moved DD back to college for her senior year, and she realized she forgot to place a photo order to decorate her walls. She emailed me her order yesterday so I could place it and pick it up for her, but the photos were really terrible quality. A bunch have been passed around losing pixels each time, a bunch more were backlit because they were avoiding looking into direct sunlight, and then a bunch were indoors in poor lighting. It took all morning to try to correct them, size them, and place the order, but I did it. (patting myself on the back)

By the time they were all put away, I all but ran out of my scrap area. LOL.

Does anyone remember the Heidi Swapp color shine products? The die cuts came un-colored and you sprayed them when mist to change the colors? Some of the pieces had a coating on them to create a resist look, too.
I pulled out my set of die-cuts (from 2013) and used my Mr. Huey’s most to color them. They are cool products and I need to remember to use them more often.

Ok, I am working tonight on cataloging my 6x6 paper pads. I did not rip them apart like I did the 12x12 because they are so little and cute. I have...29 so far. And a whole stack left to catalog. I know I do not need another one forever! But they are so fun to use, and they cost less than a cup of coffee!

My scrapbook room has been a mess for the last few weeks. I have been shopping but not putting things away like I usually do. I have piles that have been multiplying as I ignored them apparently. Today I told myself I would turn on the tv and listen to two talk shows as I cleaned and organized. I did just that and now my piles have turned into one file box of stuff (pictures and layouts included) that need some attention. I have a bunch of fun pictures from this summer's activities with my boys. Many more than in past summers since my kids are 23 and 25. I have about a dozen layouts to complete and am thrilled. Then I have to go back and work on 2002. I have about 75% of those pictures already matched with premade layouts, so I should be able to finish the year in a few weeks once I sit down and get busy.

You made me get up to see if I had any left (I don't) but I still have a couple of the prima canvas mistable pieces that also had a resist on them. I need to find stories to go with the remaining super themed pieces so I can get them on a page.

WELL...Tht's one way to purge an entire category of items from my scrapbook stash...I have all my bigger alpha sticker sheets in a sweater box - probably 1/2 full...SOME cat peed in it. The whole box reeks (and is soggy) so out to the bin it went not good for my motivation...and the culprit is fortunate that he's one of several suspects.
